Fantasy Eliteserien – Gameweek 14 Preview

Gameweek 13 was pretty low scoring so we’ll be hoping for more goals for the next set of fixtures, which kick off on Saturday.

FANTASY LEAGUE STANDINGS

Colmans Mustard extended his lead in the Fantasy Football Scout League to 15 points after a respectable score of 68 points this gameweek.

In the H2H league Dutch Warriors got another win and remains on top with 11 victories and 2 losses.

STOCK CHECKS

Rising

Amin Nouri (5.6, Brann, defender)

He’s continuing his amazing form recently. Over his last six matches he has scored once, assisted four, kept three clean sheets and picked up six bonus points from his right back berth. He’s now scored eight points less than Rolantsson. Be wary though, Nouri is without a contract at the end of the season and has refused to sign a new one. There’s a chance he’ll leave Brann in the summer.

Abdoulaye Seck (4.7, Sandefjord, defender)

This man never stops impressing. Another 15 point haul this Gameweek, on the back of a goal and clean sheet, propels him to third in the total points table. Who would expect that from a 4.0 priced centre back at the start of the season?

Aleksander Megalvis (4.3, Lillestrøm, defender)

Mentioned as a differential ahead of this Gameweek, he delivered a goal, a shut out and maximum bonus points. This followed two assists in his previous two run outs, in which he has proved an excellent out of position prospect, playing on the right side of midfield. But, with Knudtzon suspended next gameweek there could be a major re-shuffle in the lineups if a striker impresses in the abscent of Knudtzon up front.

Fredrik Knudsen (5.0, Haugesund, defender)

I could have picked any of the Haugesund defenders after three consecutive clean sheets. They are very much on form and shut Rosenborg out this Gameweek. Knudsen has picked up bonus points in three of the last five Gameweeks  which makes him the stand out option, although Stølås (5.4) and Haraldseid (4.9) are also good picks, especially as both are on set pieces. Bråtveit in goal is another option.

Haris Hajradinovic (7.2, Haugesund, midfielder)

This is a very interesting one. Before the season I thought he would be a good pick, but for much of the campaign he’s been anonymous. That all changed in the last two games when Haugesund changed formation, with Hajradinovic scoring once and assisting another in a new role behind a lone striker. In one of these games, against Rosenborg, he racked up a remarkable eight shots. Last season’s tally of four goals and seven assists did indicate he can prosper when afforded the opportunity and it looks like he is finally doing that this season. If he can continue to be fielded in this advanced role he looks an excellent acquisition for your squad.

Daniel Braaten (7.0, Brann, midfielder)

Coming back from a one game suspension, he provided a goal and an assist as well as maximum bonus points. He has now picked up 16 bonus points so far this season, more than any other player. He’s getting hard to ignore.

Björn Sigurdarson (9.8, Molde, forward)

Sigurdarson scored in his third consecutive home game. Do we now have a reliable captaincy option when at home? With home games against Viking and Strømsgodset coming up I certainly would consider bringing him in soon. One of the top scoring players in the game and one of the few premium priced players actually delivering points.

Falling

Erling Knudtzon (8.1, Lillestrøm, midfielder)

Knudtzon let down a couple of thousand new owners in the home game against Viking. He did hit the post, but he also (wrongly) got a yellow card which means he’s now suspended for next gameweek.

Jeppe Moe (4.2, Stabæk, defender)

Stabæk has shown over the last couple of gGmeweeks that they’re not a top team, but more like the team we expected them to be. They have conceded 12 goals over the last three games. Moe picked up his third yellow of the season and is now suspended for the home fixture against Kristiansund.

Birger Meling (6.3, Rosenborg, defender) and all Rosenborg players

Rosenborg again failed to play well and keep a clean sheet. They have only kept one clean sheet over the last eight Gameweeks, way less than expected. On the top of that Meling managed to get sent off. To be honest, I  could have put every Rosenborg player on this list.

Anders Trondsen (7.6, Sarpsborg, midfielder)

The most owned midfielder in the game left after 39 minutes with an injury. After he finally produced some points over the last few Gameweeks, this isn’t good news to owners.

Mos (9.0, Aalesund, forward)

After looking like the only reliable player in this game, he has now blanked three Gameweeks in a row. With though fixtures coming up, is it now time to look elsewhere?

DIFFERENTIALS FOR GAMEWEEK 14

Daniel Fredheim Holm (6.3, Vålerenga, midfielder)

He’s been showing good form recently. He’s now started three consecutive games as a right winger, after starting the season injured. He’s picked up two assists and four bonus points over those three games. I’d back him to do well in a home fixture against Lillestrøm. Vålerenga will be boosted by the return of Zahid from injury as well.

Luc Kassi (6.0, Stabæk, midfielder)

A key man for Stabæk is returning from suspension. Prior to this enforced break he had picked up a goal and an assist in two games. I expect Stabæk to get a win again in a home fixture against Kristiansund, and I expect Kassi to be involved in Stabæk’s goals.

Mikael Ingebrigtsen (5.8, Tromsø, midfielder)

Tromsø is in pretty poor form these days, but they have a good chance of turning it around at home against Sandefjord. Ingebrigtsen started up front for Tromsø against Molde and has been looking very dangerous lately. He hit the bar twice in the previous two games and has scored three times in the last five.

You have good players in the squad.
Eliteserien (as the Norwegian league is now named) has a tendency to be more volatile than the EPL.
The only 'true' top club is Rosenborg (which is bad, they are my club's (Molde) arch-rivals).
Other clubs have good and bad seasons.

Stabæk (Moe, Brochman and Omoijuanfo) has an 'easy' home game this weekend vs Kristiansund (KBK), but then they face three tough games after that. Ohi (as we shorten Omoijuanfo to) may very well score a hat-trick against KBK, and blank next tree. He's been missing a lot of chances lately. To be honest, he should've scored away at Brann (Stabæk lost 0-5).

Rosenborg (Hedenstad and Jevtovic) should start winning now, after a rather bad run of results. They have easy games. But the lack of CS' is a concern. I hope they continue to fail, of course, but they probably will start picking up those three points again at this stage of the season. One big problem, though, is that Bendtner (yes, the former Arsenal Dane) is not getting the points. Vilhjalmsson is a better striker, but the Rosenborg manager (Kåre Ingebrigtsen, a former Man City player) doesn't seem to be willing to play Vilhjalmsson by putting Bendtner on the bench. Money talks! Still, they should have the quality in their side to start winning. Despite Bendtner being a failure. What would you call a 12.5 Million striker with four goals after thirteen games? Certainly not a fantasy-success.

Aalesund's (Gyasi and Mos - Mostafa Abdellaoue, the brother of Moa, Mohammed Abdellaoue at Vålerenga) Mos can score in any game. But if he doesn't he's almost invisible. There's no telling when and where his goals comes. He'll probably end up with something within the 10-15 range. But he only scores once each game. Gyasi is an influential player that can easily pick up three bonus points just by being a presence on the pitch. And he's a goal-threat.

Haugesund and Odd have until now been strong defensively (CS), but weak in attack. You just have to pay attention to when that starts turning around (if ever).

Molde (my favourite team with S. Svendsen and BB Sigurdarsson) is a hit or miss club this season. They can be really bad, or really good. Difficult to judge. A low average age of the squad can explain a bit. Sigurdarsson is outstanding, though. He can score against anyone, on a good day. Sander Svendsen is still just a teenager. He can be really good, or rather ordinary. He's often subbed off in the 60-75 minute range.

This is too long already... I'll stop here. More people can comment to give you some alternative viewpoints from mine.

Are you a journalist? Your desciption of Bendtner versus Vilhjalmsson is pure sensationalist. Rosenborg is playing terribly, not Bendtner.

Not a journalist. Just interested in football, and in my 40's.

I form my opinions from watching some games, and round-ups of the gameweeks on TV/internett.
Impossible to watch every game, as they're broadcast simultaneously, you know.

I have a tendency to be a bit harsh in my opinions, sometimes. You are welcome to disagree, and argue against my positions if you find them not too your liking. I'm never offended by critizism that goes straight to the point. As long as we can agree to keep namecalling and such immature behaviour out of the discussion, I'm fine with being proven wrong from time to time. If you can do that.

As for Bendtner: Rosenborg played well to beat Strømsgodset 3-1 when he was suspended. Vilhjalmsson scored one, and got one assist. Reports said that he fit better with the rest of the team than Bendtner does when he plays. I'm not saying that Vilhjalmsson would be better at Arsenal than Bendtner, if they were there at the same time, but he is better than Bendtner in Rosenborg right now.

And to make it clear: My judgment of Bendtner is from a fantasy point-of-view. He is a 12.5 million striker (the most expensive in the game by far) that is very far from living up to his price-tag.

        Thank you so much!

According to this I should sell Svendsen, but I am afraid because they have got nice fixtures soon. And will he be fit for next GW?

Maybe sell Knudtzon for Haugen and downgrade Brochmann?

There are indeed good alternatives to S. Svendsen out there.
Personally, I'm keeping him. But I'm not 100% objective here, as Molde FK is my preferred club. Just so you know.

I don't know if he will be fit this weekend. I hope he will be back the match after that, at home to Viking.

Molde do have reasonably good fixtures coming up. If I could only trust them to be steady performers, I'd recommend keeping more than just BB Sigurdarsson from them. But they are too much up and down this season. Some games they can be great. Other games they look like relegation-material. So unpredictable. I long for the day when I can look back on past fixtures and see three MFK wins in a row. May it come soon. But who knows?

As for the others; Haugen/Brann is a good player. Probably the best fantasy-midfielder at Brann. But if he is a bit expensive at 9.9M (currently), Daniel Braaten (7.0M) is a good alternative from the same team. He is 35 years old, midfielder playing winger in 4-3-3 and has been awarded bonus-points in seven (!) out of thirteen gameweeks this far. An expert-commentators favourite, you could say.

Knudtzon is suspended this weekend. I have therefore sold him from my team. If he continues to play up front as a striker, he should deliver more goals. But if he is moved back to a wide midfield position where he started the season?

Brochmann is a good player on a (now) mediocre Stabæk team. He should be able to perform, and get something, from home-games. Maybe one you would want to rotate in/out based on opposition. Don't know if I really can recommend getting rid of him. He seems like a good player.

Rumours have it Molde FK will play with a 3-5-2 from now on. They tried, for the first time this year, at home to Tromsø IL and won 3-0. But not without some luck. Second half was better than the first, though. Danish back Remmer did get more forward, and had two assists in the game.

If he continues to be a threat away at Strømsgodset, I'm wondering if it is worth it to bring him in. He's currently at 5.2 million. Even with a tendency to concede in a most games, there may be some value there if he goes forward a lot from now on.

Molde's formation, and Remmer's contributions, should be monitored in the next few games, at least. He is a 'maybe' player to me now.

    When is Svendsen expected back?

      Very hard to figure out.
Molde's manager (Ole Gunnar Solskjær) does not exactly have loose lips when it comes to informing the world about his players. Besides, he is just a youngster still, so I wouldn't expect him back until the home-game vs Viking.

He may very well be rested after injury away at Strømsgodset this weekend. Even if he could play had it been an important game (like a cup-final, or something).

I like the Ingebrigtsen punt this week, but I note that he's flagged in the game (sickness, 75% chance of playing). Anyone any idea if this is accurate, or not up to date?

Fredrik Oldrup Jensen is linked to Zulte Waregem. A bid has already been made. It's fairly likely that he will leave, as his contract expires after next season. Våge Nilsen should take his place and become a nailed on "budget" option at 5.4.

      Who would you prioritise to get rid of from these?;
      A) Knudtzon
      B) Trondsen
      C) Moe
      D) Rolantsson
Tempted by A even though I just brought him in, or D as Rosenberg have forgotten how to keep clean sheets but probably should give him one more week.

cool, I'm very biased as a Rosenborg supporter, but going to venture a C-claim anyway. Rosenborgs upcoming fixtures are pretty decent, so if they get their shit together this would be the time...

Tempted double Brann defense and could afford Moe to Nouri. Alternatively plan would be midfielder to maybe Hajradinovic (keeping my third Brann space spare) or just crumble and go for the more obvious Braaten.

Brann has kept a clean sheet in five out of thirteen games. Only twice have they left the field without scoring a goal. Especially at home they are winning with a margin. Two home 5-0 results already this season.

I'd be thinking about attacking players from Brann. Which includes the game's defender Rólantsson playing winger.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with this. My brain forces me, despite my heart's protests.

Rosenborg's next five fixtures should realistically end in a minimum of 3-2-0. 4-1-0 most likely in my opinion. 5-0-0 is a possibility, but you always end up drawing one such game anyway in the long run.

My only fantasy-hope is that it is players like Vilhjálmsson or Bakenga that scores, instead of their highly owned players. If I were not a Molde-man myself, I would've considered three RBK-players next five games. But I am, so I won't.

            Ghayas Zahid / Vålerenga.
He's back from suspension, and they face Lillestrøm. That is a real rivalry-derby.
Knudtzon / LSK is suspended, so their counter-attack threat is weakened.
Vålerenga can stand higher up the pitch with Zahid frustrating the LSK defenders.

If you can afford an Odd-defender I'd go for Grøgaard instead of Ruud. Yellow cards: Grøgaard - 0, Ruud - 5. Goals scored: Grøgaard - 1, Ruud - 2. Price: Grøgaard - 6.3, Ruud - 6.4.

I don't like the idea of double-up on Brann defence. Unless you rotate one of them to the bench in away games.

Seck should only be played in home-games. Sandefjord are not good away.

Rosted is solid. A good candidate.

Others: One of the Haugesund-defenders (lots of clean sheets).

B - Kind Mikalsen away at Vålerenga.

Braaten in-form. He can get bonus-points even if Brann lose.
Shuaibu away at Viking. I'd bench him were it not for Viking being rock bottom of the league.
Kind Mikalsen will concede a goal (or two) at Vålerenga. No CS.

Funny thing is, I own both Braaten and Kind Mikalsen myself. I'll be tweeting my team-selection tomorrow, with Kind Mikalsen on the bench. Unless there is a sudden injury or something.

2FT, and not totally sure what to do with them. Think Moe and Mos are the obvious choices to lose... but also thinking about ditching one of the Rosenborg guys, haven't been too impressed with them:

                Dyngeland (McDerm.)
                Rolantsson, Ruud, Reginiusen (Seck, MOE)
                Haugen, Midstjo, Jevtovic, Brochmann (Sodlund)
                Sigurdarson, MOS, Omoijuanfo

I'm a bit stumped, any suggestions?

                  Maybe Adegbenro to Helland?

I'm actually on my wildcard this week and still not getting any Rosenborg mids/forwards. Bendtner is just too expensive for his modest output, while the mids are a lottery.

Midtsjø doesn't tempt me at all. Jevtovic gets subbed around the 60-minute mark and will leave in the summer. Jensen is on the suspension tightrope. Helland is always hot and cold.

So I'm just gonna go without any of them and reassess later.

Keep seck on the bench. He is the perfect rotation defender. Look at his points at home vs his points away. He's like a beacon of consistency among a sea of uncertainty

I'm starting Hedenstad, Rolantsson, Ruud & benching Seck.
On paper would be better benching Rolantsson as a defender, but not given where he actually plays.
Ruud vs Seck perhaps more of a toss up.

Rosenborg next 5 games are absolutely ridiculous on paper. You really couldn't ask for an easier set of fixtures. Time to invest in their attack again? They're certainly due a couple of high scoring games.

How does Knudtzon > Jevtovic FT sound? I've even got enough ITB for Jensen. He's the best player in the league imo, you can't keep good players down for too long.

I know they've been poor for a while now but during all that time they were still top (not because they were any good but all other teams were more inconsistent). Now that Brann of all teams has taken their spot at the top I'm expecting Rosenborg to show some real fight.

I'd go Jevtovic. Helland, Bendtner and Jensen are too expensive. Helland and Midtsjø are playing really poorly at the moment. Jevtovic gets subbed off early a lot, but at least he plays well for the most part.

The downside to Jevtovic is that you'll likely only be able to use him until GW20, and De Lanlay is back in training.

Yeah fixtures appeal but form less so. Still have Midtsjo, but would prefer Jevtovic and not a bad pick.
Could switch myself but minutes worry me, as Ramboros says.

                    A) Adegbenro out
                    B) Knudtzon out

                    1) Helland in
                    2) Zahid in
                    3) Anderssen in
                    4) Jradi in

I think I'd do B3 and rather consider getting Knudtzon back in after the Sarpsborg game.

Play Gyasi (ODD) or Haugen (s08)?
Haugen's good, but has only scored/assisted in 1/6 away games.

Looks ok. Otherwise in fixture terms would look at A - Andersen/Jradi/Odd mid, or B - Odd def.

Both Tromsø and Odd are now listing their GW16 fixture as postponed. New date is undetermined.

Vålerenga - Haugesund is also postponed to GW24/25.

GW17 deadline is last shot as far as I can understand. Odd have 2 home games in a row after the blank, starting with Viking in GW17. It would be very tempting to double up on Odd defenders and maybe even give Riski a shot. Just be aware of the EL rotation. Last year Odd fell apart during the qualifiers and didn't recover.
