Fantasy Premier League 2017/18 Is Now Open

After teasing us with a list of player prices and the revelation of a new Free Hit chip over the last few days, Fantasy Premier League has finally opened for registration ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Launched a week earlier than last year’s July 19 date, we now have 30 days to assemble our 15-man squads before Arsenal and Leicester City get Gameweek 1 underway on Friday August 11.

A quick look at the Player Price list shows that Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez are the priciest players on offer at £12.5m and £12.0m.

Kane’s average of 7.5 points per match (ppm) was more than any FPL regular last term, while Sanchez – who remains a midfielder – clocked up 6.9 ppm on his way to topping the charts with 264 points.

Last year’s most expensive player, Sergio Aguero drops from £13.0m to £11.5m – the same as Romelu Lukaku – with Manchester City team-mate Gabriel Jesus offering a cheaper alternative at £10.5m.

Meanwhile, City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is one of just three midfielders priced in double-figures. The Belgian comes in at £10.0m on the back of 21 assists in 2016/17, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard listed at £10.5m.

As we discovered yesterday, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is now re-classified as a forward – at £8.5m, he offers a cheaper route into the Reds’ attack than midfield trio Sadio Mane (£9.5m), Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah (both £9.0m).

At the back, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is the most expensive defender in the game – the wing-back comes in at £7.0m after averaging 5.7 ppm in his first season at the Bridge.

As always, we’ll roll out a series of Player Price List articles over the next few days, breaking them down by classification and cost.

In the meantime, enjoy delving in and getting those opening squads built.

    Forster (Elliot)
    McAuley, Cedric, Milner (Lascelles, Rangel)
    Redmond, Zaha, Pedro, Alli, Coutinho
    Lukaku, Benteke (Gayle)

    Thoughts?
Only reason i didn't select Kane was that he takes some games to start scoring.

One of Benteke and Zaha is enough, I feel!
Liverpool are in the market for a LB. i don't think Milner will start. you are better off investing 6.5 anywhere.
      Rest are good.

If Liverpool buys an LB Milner could get games in the midfield. What a prospect that would be.

Agree on Kane! Would swap Milner for a Chelsea or spurs LB

Ben Davies for LB and Lanzini would have been a fit were WH not so unpredictable, quiet [transfers] & with three aways to start [though that may help given their home ground!]

Is anybody actually maverick enough to go for Rooney given fixtures and his poor and continually decreasing form in recent years? He can't even get picked for England now

He's in my team at min.. but may switch out and monitor.
Think he'll Do well this year, and losing England place isn't a bad thing, he is playing for his international future.

      No. He's finished.
He may get a few goal and assists but you are better off investing 0.5 more in Defoe.

Forster; Alderweireld, Stones, Monreal; Coutinho, Sane, Loftus-Cheek, Redmond; Kane, Lacazette, Gabiadinni. (Boruc, Lascelles, Simpson, Colback) 1.5m ITB.
Triple SOU, rather keep 1.5m in the bank than try to pick the best 6.0m midfielder.

You can get Stanislas, Ritchie, or Knockaert with that budget. Considering to pick 1 maybe 2 of them

Boruc won't be number 1. They didn't spend £10m on Begovic for nothing 😉 feel like Gabiadinni is a poor choice. Had a good run but he's just not very good. Better off with Rodriguez, Gayle, Deeney or Austin I think (as I think Austin may come above Gabiadinni in the pecking order but we'll see) other than that nice team! If you did any of those other strikers you could upgrade Redmond to Sigurdsson which could be a good investement!

4.0m defender go Hunemeier he played near enough all the second half of the season for Brighton last year once he recovered from an injury at the end of December. Hopefully he will stay a starter.

He is one for the watchlist at least. Long is not good enough, and Gabbiadini could be both amazing and crap as we saw last season.
We'll just have to wait and see, and keep an eye on the friendlies

Rodriguez for 6m could be a good option. Moved to West Brom, should get plenty of game time. Hopefully will provide them with a bit more attacking presence. He's in mine currently, but Austin would probably be my pick if he plays but god knows if he'll be above Gabiadinni or not.

You could save a bit in defence by swapping Kolasinac and Lindelof for £5 defenders to afford a midfield elite.
Southampton and West Brom have favourable fixtures so maybe double up with McCauley and Yoshida. Alternatively Ake always seems to be an affordable goal threat.

Rate my team please everyone. I've got a million to play with, and anticipating backlash with my forwards:

    Butland (Foster)

    Lindelof, Ake, Tripper, Lowton, Cedric

    Redmond, Pogba, Lanzini, Stanislas, KdB

    Deeney, Lukaku, Firminho

Feedback, and where should that extra £1m go??

Obviously its early days, but what do you guys think of my first pick?

    Foster

    Kompany, Cédric, McAuley

    Brunt, Coutinho, Fernandinho, Herrera, Kanté

    Lukaku (v), Firmino (c)

Subs - De Gea, Lacazette, Daniels, Bellerín

I know De Gea and Lacazette are big money to have on the bench, but I'm taking the first 3 or 4 games into account with them.

This also leaves me £2.5m in the bank.
