Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Man City

Saturday’s events end on the south coast as Brighton make their Premier League debut and bid to follow the example set by Huddersfield Town following their victory at Palace.

But the Seagulls face a daunting task, with Premier League favourites Manchester City the visitors to the Amex Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s men are bristling with prime Fantasy talent with Kevin De Bruyne owned by 31.6% of FPL managers in midfield, while both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero – owned by 13.4 and 11.4% respectively – start up front for City.

That trio are the first big captain assets in action today, with Aguero backed by 5.9% of managers with the armband, while De Bruyne is the skipper for 4.7% of managers and Jesus 4.3%.

In contrast, Brighton are something of a non-event from a Fantasy perspective. Their most popular assets – Uwe Hünemeier and Liam Rosenior are both owned as 4.0 enablers, while Anthony Knockeart – present in 2.3% of squads – joins them on the bench following a recent injury.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Liverpool have been awarded the most pens in PL era. Firmino was a no brainer for me. Got 11 G 11 A last year. Expect more G. 8.5 is a snip.

      I ended on a bit of a Firmino-Salah merry go around a few hours before the deadline. Settled on Salah.

      TBH they seem to finish as bad as each other, but crazily I might even double up!

      KDB is a massive worry. Against a pretty poor Brighton he did nothing (Fantasy scoring-wise) and was far too deep to be directly involved with scoring points.

      Silva looks like a good shout for £2m less. Got to hope Jesus will actually score rather than hitting the ball with his hand or letting the defender score for him, but either way, City look far from a good shout regarding scoring points.

      Can't believe I captained Jesus. So annoying. What a really poor way for Saturday to end. Only have Lukaku left (I'm on about 67 points now) but so does everyone else, so hey doesn't mean anything.

          I wouldn't say that, he has set pieces, took some long shots and was in the box a few times too, he spent a lot of time on the edge of the box and even had an 'assist the assister moment', on another day Silva passes to him and he assists Kun, I'm expecting a lot from him this season

        He had an assist disallowed on another day would have been given for Jesus goal. He won a penalty for dunk's handball but ref didn't give it. Took every direct FK & every corner. Assisted assist for Kun goal & involved in every city attack. Relax, he will beast it this year. He'll get 17 & 18 points in some games & 2 & e in others... just keep calm & keep KDB, points will come 🙂

            Well that's before the scores have been updated. I'm actually on 65 but it will only show as 50 as I have Hegazi on my bench to come on for Iwobi.

            I'm more annoyed because I tried to plan my team well for GW1 and 2 so that I could wildcard early. That's the main reason I'm annoyed. On another day it could have been much better, but it was between KDB and Mane/Salah in midfield so I feel like I've dropped the ball.

            And I just know Lukaku will score a couple tomorrow and Kane will probably too. Jesus was seen as a differential captain pick which didn't pay off.

            What's the point in playing the game unless you try to find an angle not many other people have. No point in having the exact same team as everyone else, so yes, it's annoying when your ideas don't work, especially against Brighton of all teams! Haha.

              I'm not complaining about my points.

              Having KDB and Jesus accounts for over a 5th of my budget and they returned 5 points (Jesus was captained).

              It's so frustrating because I've put more effort into building a decent early entry team for an early WC. I think you'd be quite annoyed if you felt you missed out on 20-30 easy points against Brighton, right?

              Yes it's just a game, but failing is never fun.
