I could have saved you the time. Tadic always looks good but lacks cutting a edge. Ramsey is a good FPL player but could struggle with playing time.

Serious question for Newcastle fans: What's the drawback with Atsu?
I mean, his stats and heatmap vs Spurs are excellent, and he only costs 5.0. But according to whoscored, last season he only played 15 matches as a starter and came on a whooping 17 times from the bench...
What's the issue? Is there a pattern to how Rafa uses him?

Very surprised. Very rarely do you make up the 6 point (-4 from the transfer and the +2 from the person replaced) from a hit.
Depends how you see it. Investment in the hit might pay off in the next few weeks instead of just one.
At the end of the season all those hits just drag your OR down.

Not necessarily 2 points for the person replaced though is it? Might not make 60 minutes, might get a card, might get 2 or more goals scored against them if they are a defender.

To say this shows.complete lack of understanding.
It shows bitter experience, Siggy.
A lot of FPL pundits agree and would only take hits as a last resort.
Hits should never be regarded as inherently bad. Sometimes they are a necessary part of the game.
We are trying to score the most points. We try to do this by having the right selection of players. If you can achieve this with no hits then that is the ideal. However, of your team is nowhere near this then saving the -4 is pointless (you've saves 4 but lost majorly elsewhere) your team is further away from the ideal, and sometimes you can't catch up 1 move per week.
To label hits as a disease will dangerously limit you. Best to learn the art of self control where hits are concerned - the art of the well judged hit can bring major rewards.

I think the best way to use a -4 is with two FTs as a sort of mini-WC.
Why? Because that's what Mark said on the scoutcast?
I'd prefer to save a FT, make 2 transfers 1 week and another FT the following week. I think it is more sensible to do your mini Wildcard in 2 stages.
Every point is precious and they are so hard to make up.

You seem more of a Mark and TM nut. An FPL nut would limit his area of specialization to FPL and football itself. In my view, he wouldn't venture into other players' teams and transfers during the season.
Mark and TM are two of the biggest - and best players - in the game. You gain valuable insight by studying what they do.
Personally I think that TM and Mark kneejerking after one game is a big news story for a rather dull Wednesday - and it warrants a nice discussion 🙂
Personally I feel it warrants a discussion after the gameweek results are out and you know about the exact transfers made by them. Things like last weekend's matches or any interesting observations made by you during the course of a match would be less stalkeresque. 🙂

I'm having an enjoyable debate about the merits of taking very early hits. It's a good debate to have as many people will be thinking about doing the same. What we need to answer the question is arguments from both sides and, ultimately, statesmanship .... not childish name calling.

I thought Mark's moves were not bad, all things considered.
However, I do wonder why he bought Valencia in the first place if he was just going to sell him after one week. If he decided to invest 6.5m, he had to have believed that he would deliver value for that price, with attacking points as well obviously. How do you determine that value after just one week? Now Jones can't cover those attacking points (which he believed in), so he might lose out on them. Switching the budget around this early is quite strange.
I agree. He always said that going big in defence would allow him to downgrade and free up cash, but to do it after just 90 minutes of football is a bit myopic.

agree on hits not against them full stop but I've always taken a few too many , looking to do less this year to beat previous ranks. That said done a minus 4 gag to votes and zaha to milk so looking to cover this with price rises and few points more hopefully

Depends on future weeks and rest of your team, wouldn't do like for like and -4, only do it if having money itb is going to set you up nicely for coming weeks and you need to jump on a big hitter
Does anyone know how many of Kane's attempts on goal were when Toon had only 10 men on the pitch. I seem to recall that he was v quiet in the first half, so the Big Numbers might be misleading
