The Gameweek 2 Team News

Michail Antonio is available for West Ham’s trip to Southampton. Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit for the home clash against Crystal Palace but West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans is a major doubt for an away day at Burnley.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home encounter with Manchester United, though forward Fernando Llorente remains out as he continues to build up his fitness levels after breaking his arm.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed that Jermain Defoe is in contention to start against Watford, after the forward came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. A late decision will be made on Simon Francis (hamstring).

Daryl Janmaat, Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra will all miss the trip to Bournemouth after suffering low-grade muscle injuries in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool. Troy Deeney has returned to full training following a groin injury though, while Christian Kabasele (hamstring) and Brice Dja Djédjé (fractured finger) resumed training in the middle of the week and may be available.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Jonny Evans (hamstring) looks set to miss West Brom’s trip to Turf Moor, while Gareth McAuley (thigh) and James Morrison (knee) remain sidelined.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton will be without Izzy Brown for the trip to Leicester City, after the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury during the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit for the visit of Crystal Palace to Anfield, but Philippe Coutinho and Nathaniel Clyne both remain out due to back injuries.

Mauricio Pellegrino has a fully fit squad to choose from for Southampton’s home clash against West Ham United, with Ryan Bertrand recovering from a minor knock picked up during the goalless draw with Swansea City.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic will have Michail Antonio available for the trip to Southampton following a hamstring problem, but Manuel Lanzini (knee) will return to training on Monday.

Mark Hughes has confirmed that new signings Bruno Martins Indi, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Jese Rodriguez will all feature in the matchday squad at home to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger welcomes back Per Mertesacker for the trip to Stoke following a facial injury, while the Arsenal boss also revealed that Shkodran Mustafi and Francis Coquelin will be in the squad. Tomorrow’s match is expected to come too soon for Alexis Sanchez (abdominal injury), though.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman revealed club-record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson will undergo tests over the weekend to assess whether he is ready to feature in Monday night’s trip to Manchester City. Sandro Ramirez (heel injury) is a slight doubt after missing last night’s 2-0 win over Hadjuk Split.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

The people advising to bench Alexander-Arnold are clearly non-owners. I get that Liverpool aren't good defensively and very well might concede but surely there's way more upside to playing a defender who takes corners and free kicks against a Palace team that didn't score at home against Huddersfield and are now without their best player (Zaha). I wouldn't use a transfer to get TAA but if you own him play him. Just my two cents.

Seems like sound logic to me. £4.5m, on some set-pieces and playing for a very attacking team - if I was an owner I'd be starting him.

Not benching a 5.5-6.5 defender for TAA.

Bavies (v weakened CHE, Kola v a STO who can let 4 in agaisnt the big teams or Walker v EvE playing 3rd game in a week)

When people's arguments border on the extreme like some of these who've replied, it's usually best to ignore that advice. It's like that Milivojevic pre-season bandwagon where everyone who could only afford 5.0 was suddenly convinced he was the new Mahrez.

How much did Zaha score in the same fixture last year? Liverpool have a proper weakness in defending set pieces and Benteke and Dann are beasts at them. Corners and free kicks are great but if it's just one match, there is no harm in going with someone you think has higher clean sheet potential. You guys are talking as though it's a guaranteed 15 pointer. It might happen, it might not happen. It isn't the same as an Alonso benching.

Seeing plenty of posts about Xhaka being on corners...and he is so far...but...

There are corners and there are corners,...some teams have an annoying habit of playing short corners that actually means the corner taker is in quite a poor position on corners.

Make sure you add short corners to your tables and bear them in mind.

Mane is not ruled out - missing one day of training does not mean he won't start.

The issue, though, is that Lukaku and Kane are simply more consistent scorers and their position is not threatened by anyone (by a returning Sturridge and Origi. Firmino will also have frustrating games, because he peels deep, in which he will miss out on goals, and Liverpool played mid-week and have a crucial game Wednesday.

I also think Milner will start and may take pens back.

Hegazi needs 15,000 transfers to rise(although they are still working on the formula). He's probably gonna get 50,000 transfers in today because it's the last day before the GW starts and he's been getting about 20,000 on regular days. So if the formula is somewhat right Hegazi should be getting another rise tonight.

        Bertrand Mee Daniels
        KDB Alli Ritchie Phillips
        Chicha Jesus Lukaku(c)

        Subs : Elliott , Alonso , Carroll , Suttner

For people that have Lukaku and aren't captaining him, realistically how many points do you think you'll gain?

My dilemma is how to get Trippier into the team instead of Daniels for GW3. 0 itb after getting Mhki for Zaha (ft).

        Foster
        Bailly, Yoshida, Daniels* Dunk,
        KDB, Mane, Mhki, Ritchie
        Kane, Lukaku.

        (Elliott, Calvert-Lewin, Carroll, 4.0)

Considered KDB-> Erikson/Alli to free up the .5 needed but that would leave me with 3 spurs and 3 utd which is a bit over-reliant on those two.

Another option is Jones for Bailly to free up the 1.0.

Will monitor Ritchie but want to keep him for the next few weeks.
