The Big Numbers – Gameweek 6

Up next, we make our regular post-Gameweek assessment of the Opta data for our members.

The improved performances of Alvaro Morata, Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling come under close scrutiny, along with Man City’s relentless attack.

We also check out the impact of want-away midfield big-hitters Alexis Sanchez and Philippe Coutinho, before casting an eye over Marcos Alonso’s downturn in output as the Fantasy exodus on him picks up pace.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Thinking the same with Alli as him and Kane together aren't as good value as last season unfortunately.

Luiz can pop in with a odd goal and assist along with being perhaps the cheapest nailed route in Chelsea defence.

I'm interested in David Luiz at 5.9. He won't score the most points in the Chelsea defence but he looks like good value at that price.

but Kane always doesn't score in august. Firmino should be scoring/assisting with all the goals they have scored and their front four. Yet it doesn't seem to happen.

i disagree , i've watched most of Watfords games this season and other than the city game they have been very impressive , they will finish in the top 10 imo , good fixtures will come and go but if my prediction of a top 10 finish is correct then having a 4.5mil defender from them who will pop up with some assists and possibly some goals would be a steal

With 3 of the big three up front, it means only 2 big midfielders for most (with an OK defence).

Is it simply a take your pick from Erikssen, Alli, Silva, Cout, Mane, Pogba, Miki, KDB, Hazard or are there particularly favoured options?

    Lukaku Kane
    To score 4/9 1/2

For fantasy, with his ownership, is it dangerous to own Lukaku and not C him if he hauls?

As in, you'll get his points but it won't do much for you.

You can get 200% of Lukaku or 100% by not captaining. His effective ownership will likely be over 100 this week so you'll lose a bit of rank for each point he scores if you don't captain. Obviously if you captain Kane and he does well in the early game, you'll be hoping for a Lukaku fail rank wise as it means captain fails.

Carroll and Arnautovic fantasy island risks on last night's scoutcast.

There's a couple of Hammers in my Scout Squad selection tonight too.

would it be a good idea to do Eriksen to Mane after 2-3 weeks when fixtures turnaround for those teams?

Eriksen can get points Vs anyone as can Mane, changing one for the other doesn't make too much sense. Big players usually fixture proof

Alrighty, all splendid people in here, I wonder if these reasons warrant a free hit chip for the upcoming GW:

                - I have the wrong strikers, Morata and Aguero instead of Lukaku, Kane, Lacazette or Chicharitito. Hence, there is no clear captaining option.

                - I do not own any Arsenal or West Ham players, and have just one player from each of Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool (Holgate, Alli, Salah).

                - Only two of my defensive assets are playing on a team which is a clear favourite for their game, Holgate and Jones. Others are either in 50/50 games or are doomed to lose.

What do you think? Should I free hit chip this moddo fudgo, get Kane, Lukaku and Lacazette, along with better defensive options like MUN and ARS? I think I'll opt for a 4-3-3 if the consensus leans towards a free hit chip.

5 PL teams in Champions League / if they advance in FA Cup in spring there will be cancellations / blank weeks / double gameweeks and you will want to use it then...

Yes but we get plenty of warning when the blanks happen, people that have played the game over the years plan and cope, it's not like this chip isn't a new thing and we've been unable to survive without it in the past.

Rather use it now and chase big numbers then use it then and chase a load of 2 point Charlies.

GW28 last season had like 4o r 5 matches total. Many "experienced" teams who have "played the game over the years" had only 7-8 playing members and had to take -4, -8 or -12 just to field XI. With this chip, you could not only field XI, but you could field the best XI, so you would have instantly earned the 4, 8 or 12 back you lost + kept your original players (not transferring those out that you want mid or long term) + hopefully pick up 15-20 based on the selections with the best fixtures.

It can certainly be used this early in the season but I think there will be "emergencies" to use it.

Furthermore, not much is being said about using it in GW38 as another "Free" wildcard.

Absolute nail on the head. Plus loads were stranded with crap players from the likes of West Brom and Stoke for weeks either side to prepare/run down from that week. Absolute no brainer to save the free hit chip for now.

Yes, they were stuck with them on their bench until they wildcarded a few weeks later for the bigger doubles.

                                Absolute disaster that was.

Valid points there, Ibra. I do like to have an emergency buffer, as well as the option of taking advantage of blank weeks and end of season rotation. I think this on won the discussion for me.

Next week, Aguero and Morata won't be 'the wrong strikers' anymore, it's only because they play each other this week. I have them two as well. Find a captain from the midfield maybe.

Ah free chip, didn't read it properly. Still, not worth using that chip until later in the season as others have said. Plus, how do you know Morata and Aguero won't still do alright?

Well, they play tougher teams, each other in fact. Perhaps Morata will play 80-90 minutes and hence justifies a captaincy, but Aguero might be subbed pre/post 60.

Captaining Salah does not really fit my MO.

Well, if it helps I'm in the same boat. My team has no stand out captaincy picks:

                            Foster
                            Alonso Davies Jones
                            Eriksen Mkhi Sterling Ritchie
                            Aguero Morata Firmino

Though I'm just going to put it down to a tough week rather than hitting the free chip button, as I think there will be a time when that will be a lot more useful. Just my opinion though. Going to stick the captain on someone like Eriksen and hope for the best.

Used mine last week seeing some clear advantage for Chelsea and City. Got 86. Mixed feelings as all the strikers did well so only 26 above average.

However my rank went from 2.4 to 1.3 million - main reason I did it as my season was drifting away otherwise.

Just use it now while the ranks are close, an extra 20 points now will do a lot more for you now then in the blank week when everyone is locked in together, has a chance to prepare and also a second wildcard to clean it up around the doubles.

I'm really in favor of leaving the chips until the second half of the season. It can tempting to use them early but the second half of the season is when the schedule really gets crazy and, I feel, chips are worth more then as the potential returns are higher.

For instance, the guy leading my ML used his TC on Aguero this past week. Fair play for scoring 33 pts but it's not a game changer and now I know he's burned it which gives me an advantage later.

In your situation, I'd captain Aguero or Morata. There's been goals in this match before, no reason to think there won't be this weekend.

TBF I TCd Aguero in GW27 last year (or 28) and it was no game changer.

It would have been in GW37 for Kane/Sanchez.

The week when most bench boosted, hindsight is a wonderful thing though although it doesn't strengthen the argument.

You don't ever know how it will play out and last year the chips were underwhelming.

I'm hoping WC/TC/BB will be enough toys for the second half.

True. Aguero is risky, imo, but Morata just might play enough minutes to get a goal.

                  Who to play in UCL:

                  A) Smalling (cska away, good chance of a CS if starts)
                  B) Bruno Fernandes (Sportingb mid who plays Barcelona at home)
