Dugout Discussion – Watford vs Arsenal

Saturday’s action comes to a conclusion at Vicarage Road as Watford entertain Arsenal in the 5.30pm kick-off.

We have a chance to scout budget midfielder Richarlison as the fixtures fall in the Hornets’ favour from Gameweek 10.

The Brazilian has bagged three goals and two assists already, though has yet to find the net in front of his own supporters.

For the Gunners, there’s no Alexis Sanchez or Aaron Ramsey, while Mesut Ozil only warms the bench.

Alex Iwobi – at just 5.1 – earns a third start in four Gameweeks in light of his strike against Brighton last time out.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette, the fourth top captain choice for this round of fixtures, looks to break his away drought, with all four of the Frenchman’s goals arriving at the Emirates.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Harry Kane

The grand total of 8 points from 4 home games (3 of those games were against Burnely, Swansea & Bournemouth)

This Wembley thing really is a worry, can't see me captaining him for a while so the question needs to be asked is he worthwhile keeping?

In all those games they dominated and he had a lot of chances. Just variance that he didn't score.

This is as laughable as the dembele theory. Go ahead and sell. One less person for me to worry about against in the overall rankings.

don't care for the stats. watched the Burnley & Bournemouth games live. Could have had 2 or 3 against them. He was a bit off the pace today but had at least 3 good opportunities.
It's a Spurs problem rather than just a Kane one.
Burnley & Bournemouth both played much of the game with 9 men behind the ball. Spurs passing the ball too slowly and full-backs not able to gett in behind (Bavies a huge miss in both games).
Plus Son gets in the way - he can't cope in crowded situations. Alli becomes far less effective as doesn't have space to run into.
Away from home with space (and teams not parking the bus) suits Spurs better. Possibly Spurs will do better at home when the bigger teams come (exc. negativity Utd)

HT? Love it when the sheep get rid of Kane. That's when he begins to haul. Which is the point. He is fixture-proof. Of course he's going to go through games when he blanks. Even Messi and Ronaldo don't score every game.

Who would you sell for? Kun & Jesus are rotation risks so not sure you could be any more confident captaining one of them (assuming you don't have one of them already). Lukaku can underperform too (last 2 GWs, including CPL when he seemed like a TC candidate) and isn't as explosive as Kane. Morata is an injury doubt, and Lacazette is just a poor FPL player for the price.

I'm keeping for now but more because with the injuries to Aguero and Morata I don't see other decent options up front (also have Lukaku and Jesus).

But his form is a huge worry and I can't believe people are ignoring it. The number of big chances he's had at home all season - ONE - is absolutely pathetic. It also shows that we can't expect him to suddenly start banging them in at home until Tottenham start giving him the chances.

Remind me how many goals he has scored this season?

Question for you: does it matter where he scores the goals?

Kane will score close to 300 points this season so I am more than happy for you to sell him.

THe problem is him not scoring enough points in easy home games for good captaincy. 300 is too far off I am sure you exaggerated there as a joke.

This could be confirmation bias but I think this type of game makes Kane a better option this week. People will get rid because, on paper, Liverpool are a better team than those Spurs have faced at home in the league (with the exception of Chelsea). Liverpool provide a similar challenge to that of Dortmund and look what he did against them. Should be a very different game to what they've faced at home in the league so far.

    Bottomed

I see quite a few people getting rid of Kane now. I believe Kane could easily haul next week.

I don't think the problem is just Wembley, it's who Spurs have faced at Wembley. All the teams they have played there in the PL have parked the bus against them, and Spurs seem to really struggle to break through those teams when there are 7-8 players sitting in the box. It was not too long ago when Spurs beat Dortmund there - a team that always has an attacking approach

Liverpool has a really attacking style of play and I think that they could be punished

They seem to have less intensity at Wembley, at WHL they would pummel teams, it don't feel the same.

I was all set to lose Eriksen as think Kane and Eriksen (not selling Davies) could be too much but they still score points regardless of how Spurs look.

After the last couple of years, if any team deserves patience, it's them.

I think Spurs really missed Davies, he offers a lot from wing back in terms of their attack.

Aswell as that though, as you say teams are coming to Wembley to defend. And its working, which only makes more teams determined to play that way against them. Liverpool are an attacking side, but as we saw tody they weren't overcommitting against utd as they were fearful of the counter. Its perfectly conceivable they could defend with 7 players, and leave salah, firmino and coutinho further up the pitch to counter attack at pace. We could see another stodgy 0-0 if both teams are overcautious of the counter.

Its most difficult stadium in world in park bus at. Its not a small stadium like britannia/white hart lane. It would have been more easy to park the bus last season as ground was smaller. It is basically to do with english teams think of wembley as the holy stadium and bring their A game

Dembele really is the key. Winks is doing well for his age and lack of experience but he should be getting the cup games to try to be a bit braver. He's playing it safe which is understandable. Can't fault him - he's been solid whenever he's played.

Kane owners looking for confirmation bias tonight. So cute. He's the best striker in the league but just admit he isn't worth the FPL price tag. He won't be scoring 7 goals in 2 until the opponents he faces are on the beach in April/May.

He scored 14 goals in September in all competitions. Your argument is invalid, the season has just started

the only reason I would drop is if I was confident that Morata and Kun could match him for around 2 and 1 mil less respectively

Aguero and Morata when fit can match him IMO whilst Spurs are poor at home.

Context is a marvelous thing. Tell me which strikers this season have scored 7 in 2 ?
No confirmation bias required - he could have scored at least 2 today . I don't believe this Wembley crap , it's only a matter of time and then he will be proven to be worth every penny.
Best of luck if you go without him with the weekly washing bill for underpants .

It is becoming a bit ridiculous. I can't remember a team scoring so many goals over such a short period of time. If you take out the 1-0 victory against Chelsea they have scored 23 goals in the other previous 4 games in the PL. Completely insane but I love it 😎 😎

He transferred in Sterling and Abraham. Think he will be a happy bunny regardless

A bit naive with Jones imo. You should know Mourinho by now 🙂

It wasn't really naivety. I do know how Mourinho works. It was more futile hope that good would win out over evil this time 😉

Nothing evil in it, at least that's how I see it. It's a classic case of game management. mou wanted 1 pt, he got it, klopp wanted 3 pts, what did he get? Who is the tactician here?

GW rank out. Another dumbass Egyptian creating a new team just to get 1st place. I wish FPL would stop allowing this - if it's a new team and a chip has been played, it shouldn't be displayed as the highest scoring.

It ruins the spirit of the game.

I'm impressed with their confidence in Liv-Mun 0-0

        Points per £m:

        Kane (12.8): 3.6
        Abraham (5.6): 6.9

What’s the news on Atsu injury?

If he doesn’t play Carrol comes on for 8 which would be nice...
