Sky Sports Focus – Gameweek 9

It’s now time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article, where we look back at last weekend’s action, before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 10 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Liverpool vs Man UnitedJoe Gomez
Man City vs StokeKevin De Bruyne
Burnley vs West HamSteven Defour
Spurs vs BournemouthAsmir Begovic
Swansea vs HuddersfieldTammy Abraham
Crystal Palace vs ChelseaWilfried Zaha
Watford vs ArsenalTom Cleverley
Brighton vs EvertonAnthony Knockaert
Southampton vs NewcastleManolo Gabbiadini
Leicester vs West BromMarc Albrighton

Kevin De Bruyne picked up his third award of the season and second in as many matches. The Belgian is in the form of his life right now and, despite playing in a deeper role, could still be worth the outlay at 11.5m.

The budget-friendly Tammy Abraham (8.6m) earned his second award and continues to look great value in Swansea City’s home matches.

Sky Sports favourite Wilfried Zaha returned from his early-season injury to lead the line for Crystal Palace against Chelsea and promptly delivered a goal and MoTM award. At 9.3m, he once again looks a tempting option ahead of an extended run of favourable fixtures for Palace, particularly if he remains in the central striker role.

Gameweek 10 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 11 points or more in bonus for the season

members

Four Man City players make the top six positions, with Fernandinho now the game’s overall bonus leader.

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Notes

And so concludes possibly my worst ever Gameweek in Sky Sports.

Only Harry Kane netted more than two points after obtaining shots on target bonus. That was made all the more painful by Eden Hazard, Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah all scoring a hatful of points in Europe midweek.

Last week I said It was a risk going without Man City players and ultimately that’s what punished me. I’m now scratching my head and wondering how I can fit one of them in.

David Silva or Raheem Sterling are my preferred options due to their cheaper price points in comparison to De Bruyne and the City forwards. But I don’t want to lose any of my aforementioned midfielders or either of the highest-owned players in the game, in Kane and Romelu Lukaku.

That leaves me with Jamie Vardy, who only just came in on Monday and is required for captain cover over the next few weeks. For now, then, I’m going to have to rely on Burnley to stifle the City attack. Terrifying.

Captain Plan
Fri 20th – Suttner (whm)
Sat 21st – Lukaku (hud)
Sun 22nd – Kane (LIV)

Who is my captain this weekend boys?

    a) Lukaku
    b) Silva
    c) Kane

I think the safest way to do this is picking Lukaku, thoughts?

Kane to Kun (c) and you're sorted.

I know man.. it's so hard.

        Aguero starting?

If I were to pick up Aguero, i would trade him with Lukaku

Both Kaku and Kane have meh fixtures ahead. I would keep Kaku for the Huddersfield fixture, given the bully he is against rubbish teams. So ideally, makes sense to ditch Kane if you want Kun this week.
Plus Klopp (and Liverpool) have a solid record against Spuds; even if Aguero comes off the bench tomorrow, he can still outscore Kane this week.

          1. vopemartin

Yeah, I get your point. But to ditch Kane, as the player he is. Is too much of a gamble.
I think the best is to cap Lukaku and make the changes next gameweek.

What do you think about this for next gameweek:
            +2 free transfer

Alonso, Vardy, Lukaku > Aguero, Morata, +6.2 defender (-4)

There is also a possibility to go with sterling, but i also have silva in my team.

Sounds good, not considering an exit plan for Kane at all?

No, not at the moment. I think he is the best striker in the league and will continue to make points, even if the opposite sides are lfc, utd, afc. Did you see spurs in Madrid this weekend?

I would rather have Sterling then Silva tho.. so i have to think about that as well.

But, I think Aguero, Morata, Kane. Seems like a good long-term commitment. And later try to squees in Eriksen(?), KDB(?), Sterling(?), Hazard(?).

Liverpool's fixtures look lush from GW10 onwards. Chelsea at home in GW13 is their only fixture against any of last years top 6, up until Arsenal away in GW19.

Firmino at 8.5m comes back in the picture to go with two heavy hitters up top and spend extra money in midfield then.

WC GW10 how are you 🙂

Me too! Its a nightmare. My WC team right now is:

      Hart/Elliot
      Mee/Tarowski/Dunk/Francis/Mariappa
      Sterling/Eriksen/D. Silva/L-C/Carroll
      Kane/Lukaku/Jesus

But surely Morata and Daniels are better than Jesus and Francis?

Lukaku has failed to score in 17 of his last 24 games against newly promoted teams.. Any thoughts?

    a) who cares, captain him anyway
    b) sterling

Would you use your free hit to bring in this team?

    DDG
    Bertrand, Cedric, Daniels
Sane, Sterling, Zaha, Martial Lukaku, Morata, Jesus

Would've taken a 24 pt hit to make and will save me 4 pts as I've already taken a hit.

    Elliot - Foster
    My team
    Kolasinac - Bavies - TAA - Mee-Mbemba
    Salah-eriksen-mikhi-ritchie-tom Carroll
    Jesus-Kane-Wood
    1 ft.. 0.2 itb
    Should I do Wood->Abraham?
    Any other glaring transfer?

Tough week for the captaincy. The default option is Kane. Could be a good week to take a punt though so considering Hazard.
