Dugout Discussion – Spurs vs Liverpool

After Arsenal swept aside Everton at Goodison Park, we turn our attentions to Wembley Stadium as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool bring the curtain down on Gameweek 9.

All eyes are on Harry Kane, who is still seeking his first league goal at Spurs’ temporary home.

Despite that record, he is second only to Romelu Lukaku in the race for the Gameweek 9 captaincy – 18.4% of FPL managers have handed him the armband.

Given that only two of the top 10 captains have scored so far, a haul from Kane could have a major impact on the overall standings.

Elsewhere for the hosts, Ben Davies is passed fit to return but surprisingly has to settle for a spot on the bench along with Danny Rose.

Sold by over 195,000+ FPL managers last week, the Welshman has started just two of the last five Gameweeks and next faces a weekend trip to Old Trafford.

For the visitors, Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino have the chance to play their way into our plans as the fixtures turn in Liverpool’s favour from Gameweek 10.

And James Milner – listed as a defender in FPL – could also be one to watch as an out of position option, with Jurgen Klopp naming him in midfield this afternoon.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    A) Stones / Francis / Fernandez
    vs.
    B) Otamendi / Daniels / Hunemeier

(Other two defenders are Ward & Duffy).

Also. On a WC. Before this match, I was looking at:

    DDG / Elliot
    Azpi / Otamendi / Daniels / Ward / Duffy
    Eriksen / Salah / Sterling / Richarlison / Surman
    Aguero / Morata / Abraham

Given that I've realised I should never doubt Kane, how's this instead?

    DDG / Elliot
    Otamendi / Daniels / Ward / Duffy / Hunemeier
    Salah / Sterling / Richarlison / Gross / Carroll
    Kane / Aguero / Morata

I'm actually 0.1 short of the second option, but hoping Daniels falls some time this week. (Could also fund it via Ward > Mee or Duffy > Dunk).

I have heard/read that Hunemeier is usually the 1st choice backup to Dunk/Duffy. Can any Seagulls confirm? ( Jonty where you at?

That defence was template a few weeks ago, now Alonso is blanking, Davies not playing and Sanchez blocking Kola

Sane, KdB or Silva probably better FPL option than Sterling, you need a 4.5 mid and your 2 cheapie defenders are not staying

    My defense is almost non-existent:

Jones (injured and probably out for 2-3 GW)
Evans (injured and probably out for more than a month)
Ben Davies (on bench for 2 consecutive GWs)
    Wimmer (no longer first choice)
Cedric -- the only reliable defender but fixtures turn in another 2 GW.

No FT, No WC. 1.1m in the bank. Ideas to steer the ship?

I'm in a similar situation. I'm optmistic about Jones. He walked out of the stadium unaided and if there's any way he can play, Mou will want him for the Tottenham match.

If worst comes to worst, I'd take a hit to get rid of Evans. Perhaps for Fonte, Kike femenia (excuse the terrible spelling), or Yoshida.

He's only missed two prem games & has played all Champions League games without Robertson getting a look in so before today I'd say yeah. But after that horror-show perhaps the gaffer will ring the changes. I would hope so too, but we always find a way to balls it up e.g. our defence somehow allowing Joselu to score.

If we haven't had an article on choice defenders recently can we have one please? With the fixture shift and the Jones injury, i'm in need of a little reshuffle and could use some help. Failing an article, anyone here tell me who's looking good?

Is Trippier nailed? Is Davies? Otamendi looks the best pick from City but is it a waste of a city spot picking a defender? Any other Man U assets worth investing in, who will take Jones' spot? Is Mee the best Burnley defender? Are Burnley looking that strong defensively? Are any of Bournemouth, Liverpool or Everton worth a shout with their fixtures or are they all too defensively unsound?

These are all questions I'd like answered. Thanks in advance to anyone who spares a second to help me out.

If you confirm your transfers and later decide to play the 'Free Hit' chip, do the transfers still go through for the following gw?

No, hits and transfers are all wiped out.

        REPOST

Best def 5.5m or under? Not Saints.

Looking at Ward or Daniels (who will probably drop to 4.8) but any other ideas?

G2G? If Jones injured, will play Carroll and swap Jones to Daniels next GW.

        Fabianski
        Naughton - Cedric - Maguire - Jones
        Richarlison - Sterling - Salah
        Kane - Lukaku - Aguero

Subs: Elliot - Carroll - Mbemba - Chalobah
