The Weekend Team News

Spurs are dealt a massive blow as Harry Kane is ruled out of their trip to Manchester United. West Brom have concerns at the back ahead of a home clash with league leaders Man City, while Bournemouth have mixed news up front as Chelsea roll up to the Vitality Stadium. Here’s our round-up of the team news so far, with eleven press conferences still to come today.

Earlier this morning, Spurs confirmed that Harry Kane has a minor strain to his left hamstring after undergoing assessments.

With a Champions League clash against Real Madrid in midweek, Mauricio Pochettino admitted that his star striker will miss tomorrow’s crucial trip to Old Trafford.

“We cannot take a risk for tomorrow, we’ll see after for Wednesday (v Real Madrid). But tomorrow, it is impossible.”

Fernando Llorente or Son Heung-min will now lead the Spurs attack at Old Trafford, with Pochettino perhaps set to field a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Meanwhile, United’s first-choice centre-halves Phil Jones and Eric Bailly, along with Marcus Rashford, were all pictured back in training yesterday.

Arsene Wenger has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home encounter against Swansea City.

Martin Olsson is almost certain to miss out for the Swans due to a hamstring injury, while Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony remain sidelined.

James McArthur and Chung-yong Lee are both doubtful for Crystal Palace’s home fixture against West Ham United due to knocks.

Georginio Wijnaldum has recovered from a knee injury, and is fit to return for Liverpool’s home meeting with Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers’ Elias Kachunga has trained all week following a back injury, and is available for the Anfield clash. Collin Quaner has a chance of being involved after stepping up his recovery from a calf injury.

Roberto Pereyra will miss Watford’s home clash against Stoke City due to a hamstring injury, while Sebastian Prodl and Younes Kaboul remain out.

Peter Crouch (back) is a slight doubt for the Potters, while Bruno Martins Indi remains sidelined.

Tony Pulis will be without Craig Dawson (knee) and James Morrison (achilles) for the home encounter with Manchester City. Gareth Barry (hamstring) and Jonny Evans (groin) remain concerns for the Baggies.

Jermain Defoe is back in training following a hamstring injury and “should be fine” for Bournemouth’s home match with Chelsea, according to Eddie Howe. Josh King has recovered from illness but is now doubtful due to a back problem, while Ryan Fraser will be assessed after picking up a knock in midweek.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche revealed Chris Wood is “touch and go” for the Monday night meeting with Newcastle United due to a hamstring injury, but Sam Vokes could return following an abdominal strain.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I think I may actually take a -4 to get Lukaku back in after removing him this week. Can see Tottenham being a bit rudderless without Kane (like the WHU game)

Bavies, Sterling, Kane >> Duffy, Sanchez, Morata

Will probably need kane back next week so will need to remove sanchez and morata again. Doesn't seem worth it does it?

Don't do it if you think You'll remove them next week. Think Sanchez will do good for the next few weeks. And have a feeling Kane'll not be back before the next IB.

I am amazed how many FPL players get obsessed by team-value.
Prices changes are important to consider, yes, but FPL is not a value game, it's a points game

With Kane last minute injury.. is pretty common for teams to take a -4 / -8 right?? No way im benching a 12mil player.

    Kane out for

    a) morata
    b) lacazette

    1. Pegboy
      • 13 Years
      6 years, 6 months ago

Your replacement would have to score a couple for it to be worth a -8 and you'll probably want Kane back next week, but out of those options, A.

      1. Lukakuna
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 6 months ago

Only needs one goal to make it worth it really

        1. Pegboy

Worth a -8? And potentially another FT to get him back in?

        2. Going Home
          • 12 Years
          6 years, 6 months ago

"only" - if your replacement is a citeh player, he needs to get on the pitch first. Not to mention Morata managed a single point return v one of the worst defences in the league last week (and was a minute away from a zero point haul). There's nothing which doesn't come across as at least a little risky in a hit

i already have aguero and sterling tho..

    2. Lord Bendtner, TGSTEL
      • 8 Years
      6 years, 6 months ago

First of all, it doesn't matter if you've taken -4 already for something else... Swapping out Kane is only -4 effectively anyway. IF you dont need another hit next week just to get him back, or to fix other things in your team at the same time.

With that said, I'm not saying it's definitely worth it. The new player need 4p more than our first benchplayer to evenout. even a goal might just mean 6p plus. Which might become just 2p plus if the other hit will be needed the week after.

So one week punts is hard to profit on

I don’t think I am desperate for Liverpool cover to be honest but maybe that’s because it’s the obvious move to do.

I can bench Kane as I have Dunk, Cresswell and RLC as my three subs.

But I’m reading he may not be back until GW12 so could be on the back foot if I just bench him

    A) Take another hit to bring in Morata or Jesus
    B) Play Free hit and load up on Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea
    C) Play Abraham and pray

Do you consider this transfers worth a free hit?

Kane to Lacazette (if not RLC plays)
    Aguero to Vardy
    DSilva to Salah
    C-Moting to Sanchez (C)
    Bavies to Monreal

Have Morata and Couthino in team.

Would it be a good idea to use wildcard now? If no, then when would you suggest?

    2FT-s

    De Gea Elliot
    Cedric Davies Bailly Mee Rangel
    KDB Willian Xhaka Ward-Prowse Carroll
    Firmino Kane Lukaku

I'd probably WC that. Just make sure you've got a route back to Kane next week.

I have Kane priced at 12.6. He currently values 12.7. If he drops 0.1, will "my" Kane worth 12.6 or 12.5?

So glad I held back now on my 2 FT's...

    Kane>Diouf instead of Firmino, + Brady>Salah.

Liverpool double-up v Huddersfield. Then next week Firmino>Kane? Make sense?

    Foster
    Davies Bailly Kolasanic
    BRADY Sterling Silva Gross
    KANE Jesus Firmino

Jones and Eriksen will start for me this GW.

Having dilemma about the GK spot:
    A) DDG;
    B) Elliot?
