The Technical Area – Assessing De Gea

Minimising investment in goalkeepers has long been a popular adage among seasoned Fantasy managers. Year after year, we find ourselves searching for budget offerings who offer the sought-after combination of clean sheet and save-point potential.

The wider meta, however, often runs contrary to this strategy – with premium goalkeepers such as Thibaut Courtois, Hugo Lloris and David de Gea consistently ranking among the most popular players in Fantasy Premier League in terms of ownership.

Aguero played 87 minutes against Russia in Moscow on Saturday and is starting against Nigeria today in Krasnodar (Russia) at 16:30 (GMT).
Jesus played 58 minutes against Japan in Paris on Friday and plays England at Wembley tonight.

With fewer miles, and minutes potentially, is Jesus more likely to start against Leicester on Saturday?

Morning dzz, on WC and struggling with the team structure (sv - 100.5). So what would everyones structure be on a WC?

    A: 3-4-3 with
    - three premium forwards (kane kaku morata)
    - 5 cheap but decent def i.e. dann daniels dunk moreno mee
    - 1 premium mid (salah), 1 mancity mid, 2 value mids (richa, gross)

    B: 3-4-3 with
    - two premium forwards + firmino (who despite his season is grt value)
    - Jones + 4 cheap but decent def
    - 1 premium mid (salah), 1 city mid, 2 good value mids (richa, zaha)

    C: 4-4-2 with
    - two prem forwards (kaku kane) + 4.5m attacker
    - alonso, jones plus three very decent cheap def
    - salah, two city mids, richarlison

    D: 3-5-2 (very similar to option C)
    - starting an extra mid (zaha) and replacing alonso with moreno.

Feels like a chelsea player is a must with their nice fixtures but struggling to fit one in.
Name your best options in order of preference.

Guess you've checked the rotation in defence, not sure
      Not convinced though
Big question is Rashford. Been considering him also but is he better than going for a fodder and upgrading one of Sane or Sterling ? or indeed one of those defenders

Couple options here.. 2FT and 0.1 banked. Was leaning towards A all week, but kind of tempted by Lukaku now. All assuming Jones is good to go. THX!

    A) Kola + Ritchie - > Jones + Richa
    B) Cresswell + Ritchie - > 4.6 + Richa
    C) Alonso + Kola + Vardy - > Jones + 4.5 + Lukaku
    D) Ritchie + Vardy - > Richa + Rashford

    Elliot Krul
    Kola Alonso Cresswell Ward Naughton
    Salah Silva Ritchie RLC TCarroll
    Kane Aguero Vardy

A or B would work (B with Mee)

Wouldn't want to lose Alonso before Chelsea decent run of fixtures and don't trust Rashford over Vardy so C and D are a no for me. If you want Lukaku you can always go Aguero to kaku for the next 2 gw

Anybody else remembers that season (was quite a while ago) where at one point there was this template midfield which almost everyone had? 😀 In it were Dempsey, Valencia, Moses (not sure about him) but I don't remember the other two players.

Moses was never in a template was he? He was always my favoured differential.

I remember the template around Michu's time.

Basically, the common theme is often that obvious value option first. Michu, Mahrez, King etc.

What to do here, lads? I'm chasing a 16 pts $ML leader and he is strugling with the deffence but he got Kane Lukaku Sane Alli Richarlison..
    --------Forster*
    Femenia* Walker*Ward
    Salah Silva Matic Richarlison
    Morata* Kun Vardy*

    Elliot; King;Gamez;Hunemeister 😀

    *players that are actually differentials!

I'm circling around those options so far:

    A) Vardy>Lukaku(c)
    B) Morata>Kane(c)
    C) Forster>De Gea (most of my rivals having Phil Jones)
    D) Gamez>Moreno and bench Ward and hope for Burnley to concede as most of my rivals had at least 1 BURNLEY DEF :X

For me, you have to cover Lukaku. He's a big differential for your rival and he has another home fixture immediately after if he delivers vs Newcastle.

This is the big concern 😀 Lukaku coverage.. I'm just 0.1 short of doing Vardy>Kane(c) as I prefer him because of his hauls. Also I'd capped Kane for the first 9 GWks so far and he is who kept me above the water 😀

Probably because Pep can't make up his mind over his team selections and he dont want to risk 11.8m on the bench.

Kun is a role model for City and I can't imagine Pep to drops him on bench when he is fully fit. Yes, Guardiola is sometimes weird with the decisions he made, but you can't make compromises when your top players are fully fit. People are paying lots of money to get into matchday I watch how these role models earning their wages with a game 🙂

Well these are all my thoughts so you can ignore me 🙂

I mean he is a role model, no doubt. I doubt that has any bearing whatsoever in what team Pep puts out though. He's also got a flight back from Russia, whereas Jesus is coming back from Wembley. Don't be surprised if Jesus starts this weekend imo.

Don't think you deserve to be ignored but if you're honest, you're just guessing while you can be certain that Lukaku, Kane and Morata will start every game when fit.

That's why people are thinking about getting off, no other reason.

Aguero is the top scoring striker but let's not forget he has a 20 point haul in that which really makes his total look more impressive than what he's really contributed so far this season, he's not irreplaceable unless Jesus is injured IMO.

I can't see him starting Kun & benching Jesus after their respective travel distances. Could be wrong of course.

Have a sneaking suspicion Lukaku could do a demolition job on Newcastle without Lascelles, like scoring 4 goals kind of thing with Newcastle capitulating

Over the last few years, Newcastle have given me some really season defining moments.

Aguero with 5 goals, a season before, Aguero and Silva getting big hauls on a Sat evening KO, I'm with you, I'm getting that feeling again.

They might also be without Elliot and Atsu looks like he's injured, they could be vulnerable.

          My point exactly.

          Captains Used
          Lukaku (7 times - 110 points - average 15.7 points)
          Kane (2 times - 8 points - average 4 points)

Hello, all. Could use some opinions on this:

    Speroni
    Jones - Gomez - Mee
    Salah - Silva - Sane - Richarlison
    Kane - Jesus - Vardy

    Elliot - RLC - Francis - Kiko

I have 1.1 ITB and 1 FT. Would you:

    A) Jesus to Lukaku
    B) Jesus to Morata
    C) Vardy to Rashford
    D) Save

    Cheers!

Thanks. Yeah, the Lukaku to Morata move would definitely be on in GW14 or GW15. Cheers.

I would chose a way to get lukaku first, instead of salah.

    Here's a tough one.
    2 FT, 0.3 itb :

    ----------------Pope------------------(Elliot)
    Ward-----Alonso-----Jones-----(Otamendi------Mariappa)
    Salah-----Sterling----Ritchie-----RLC------------(Caroll)
    Kane---------Morata-----------Jesus

    a) Otamendi + Jesus -> Daniels/Moreno + Lukaku

    b) Otamendi + Jesus + Ritchie -> Francis/Moreno + Lukaku + Richarlison -4

    c) Ward + Ritchie -> Francis + Richarlison

    d) Ritchie -> Gross save 1FT

    1. Emiliano Sala

The real question must be who is most important to have for the next few GWs.
Luka, Jesus, Daniels, Ota, Richarlison... that's a puzzle.

In a team with Kaku & Kane, would you prefer Zaha+Kun, or Sterling +Sane?

Sterling and Sane if you have no Aguero.

Thoughts on Davies and Jesus -> Jones and Lukaku for my two FTs?

    Elliot Krul
    Davies Stones Ward Duffy Mbemba
    Salah Silva Richarlison Choupo Loftus-Cheek
    Kane Morata Jesus

Am I the only one who is changing line up to 3-5-2? I think the third forward spot is hard to fill, my team will look something like this:

    Fabianski, Elliot
    Jones, Otamendi, Maguire,( Lascelles, Rosenior)
    Gross, Salah, Eriksen, D.Silva, Richarlison
    Kane,Morata

Well I only think Kane and Morata is essential. The others:

        1. Aguero and Jesus to much rotation so not worth the gamble. I rather double up on 2 Mid in city instead of getting one of them.

        2. Lacazette and Arsenal have been disappointing.

        3. Lukaku, I dont think hes worth the money and Man U is better at keeping CS than scoring, but I guess hes not out of the picture, I could get him in later.

        4. Firm/Vardy could work out but I feel Leicester is way to bad at scoring and I have never liked Firmino, he needs so many scoring chances before he actually score goals (better getting Mane, Salah, Cout)

    A) You captain Kane and he blanks.
    B) You don't captain him and he does well.
