The Weekend Team News

Man City’s Sergio Aguero confirms his fitness for the trip to Leicester City. Toby Alderweireld is sidelined until around Christmas ahead of Spurs’ north London derby with Arsenal, but both Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli are expected to be in contention.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, will have Christian Benteke available for their home meeting with Everton. Here’s our round-up of the team news so far, with nine press conferences still to come.

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero took to social media yesterday to declare himself fit for the trip to Leicester City, seemingly feeling no ill effects from the dizzy spell he suffered while on international duty with Argentina.

Pep Guardiola is due to speak later today and, while we’re expecting the City boss to remain cagey, the signs are that Aguero will be in the squad at the King Power Stadium. Whether he’s chosen for the starting line-up is another matter – Gabriel Jesus has been selected for each and every away match so far this season.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he doesn’t believe Olivier Giroud (thigh) will be fit for the derby with Spurs, while Shkodran Mustafi (thigh) and Danny Welbeck (groin) will be assessed today.

Toby Alderweireld will miss the trip to the Emirates due to a hamstring injury, and could be sidelined until after Christmas. But Mauricio Pochettino will be buoyed by the fact Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all returned to full training yesterday.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed he will make a late decision on Josh King, who hasn’t trained so far this week due to a back injury. Benik Afobe is back in contention after overcoming a groin injury, but Junior Stanislas remains sidelined.

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner will travel to the Vitality Stadium without the suspended Christopher Schindler. Martin Cranie is set to get the nod in his place. Meanwhwhile, the influential Aaron Mooy will be assessed today following his international exertions with Australia.

Similarly, Burnley manager Sean Dyche will assess Chris Wood today ahead of the home clash against Swansea City. The forward arrived back late from international duty with New Zealand and is also nursing a hamstring problem.

Paul Clement will be able to call upon Wilfried Bony, Renato Sanches, Leon Britton, Martin Olsson and Angel Rangel for the trip to Turf Moor after all five players missed the 1-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Christian Benteke is available for Crystal Palace’s home meeting with Everton, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek is doubtful due to a back spasm. He failed to train on Thursday and will undergo further assessment prior to Saturday’s clash.

Despite returning to training, Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina will miss the trip to Anfield due to an ankle injury.

Nacer Chadli picked up a fresh injury in training on Thursday ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s home encounter with Chelsea. Manager Tony Pulis has ruled out the Belgian “for the foreseeable future”. We will hear from Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte regarding knocks to Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi later today, though the latter is expected to miss out.

Chris Hughton has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion’s home clash against Stoke City on Monday night.

But the Potters will be without injured duo Jack Butland and Geoff Cameron for the trip to the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls have no new injury concerns, with Steve Sidwell their only notable absentee.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

On a WC, which 4.5m midfielder should I go for? RLC is mot likely injuried but could be back next week. Carroll is the safe and dull option. Anyone else to consider?

    DDG
    Jones Mee Moreno (Naughton BDavies)
    Salah Sterling Silva Richarlison

Naughton (Bur) a decent replacement if Jones is injured.

The way I see the Aguero situation panning out, Leicester away is a much tougher and more important game (cruising their group) than Feyernoord at home. They will comfortably beat Feyernoord so Kun will start against Leicester, maybe along side Jesus. Kun may get seat on the bench against Feyernoord.

    1. Bat Man
      • 6 Years

This. x100. Maybe it's because I have Aguero, but assuming that Aguero is fine from his dizziness, no reason why he doesn't start. Feyenoord is a piss easy fixture for City.

Flight to Moscow, clock 3 hours forward, play game.
Flight to Krasnodar, play game, collapse in a dizzy spell at half time.
Trip to hospital, lots of tests.
      Flight to Moscow.
Flight to Manchester with 3 hours time difference.
One full City training session in 2 weeks.

      Leicester on Sat.
      Feyenoord on Tuesday.

    Struggling here! 🙁

2FTs, 0.3ITB. Best moves to field a strong 11? Otamendi out, Cédric & Yedlin with very hard away games and RLC now injured has caused a lot of headaches! Plus Haz with his knock and then there is what to do with Kun? 🙂

    All advice welcome! 🙂

Hazard should be fine. Otamendi to United defender, preferably Jones if somehow you could know he'll start. Otherwise stick, should easily have 11.

Keep it simple ... Cedric needs to go with the upcoming fixtures and either carry the other for next week or maybe look at replacing Yedlin too. Newcastle fixtures look a bit tricky ... even Watford at home is a tough one now.

Don't think B is worth it.

A is an option if you really want Lukaku. But how much value would you lose by doing the move (if any)?

If you want Lukaku long-term then A. If you prefer Aguero long-term, then I would just save the FT. Not worth chopping and changing every few weeks.

Ya B does seem a waste as my other 4 DF's have plum home fixtures.

I prefer Aguero by a mile when comparing to Lukaku but the rotation issue every week is painful especially with the Xmas fixture schedule looming. Very undecided to be honest. Not being able to captain Kun out of fear of benching when he's home to say Stoke is well annoying

I'm looking at selling Jesus for that very reason (post below) - in a few weeks, might possibly sell Lukaku for a cheaper striker and bring Sane alongside Sterling.

Still a rotation risk, but would hurt a lot less when he fails to start.

Might be worth considering? Lukaku for the next few weeks. If he does well - keep. If not, downgrade.

Tempted to do Jesus to Morata -4 rather than wait a couple of weeks (apologies for re-post - aiming at a different crowd)

    Reasons Against:

Jesus has better fixtures (lei, hud vs wba, liv) over the next 2 gameweeks
Would leave me with Sterling as my only City player
    Its -4.

    Reasons For:

    I want Morata long-term.
Morata will play. Jesus might play.
Morata has a great fixture this week.
I have 0.3 ITB. That could easily get swallowed up by Morata/Jesus price changes over the next two weeks.
Would give me 0.4 ITB - which would enable me to upgrade Mbemba to Dunk/Francis next week. 0.3 gets me nothing..

Any thoughts? Appreciate it is a punt....

I'd wait until GW 14 for morata rather than take a -4 to be honest

That was my original plan (and still might be) - but that -4 does get me a nailed-on striker, less stress and a stronger bench for the festive period.

    Help!!

    Fabianski
    Mee | Bellerín | Jones | Davies
    Salah | Alli | Silva
    Abraham | Morata | Kane
    Elliot | Atsu | Otamendi | King

    1 FT & 0.2 ITB

    A. Alli >> Sane
    B. Davies >> Moreno
    C. Davies >> Daniels
    D. save FT

    Please suggest, thanks.
