Team News

The Weekend Team News

Man City’s Sergio Aguero confirms his fitness for the trip to Leicester City. Toby Alderweireld is sidelined until around Christmas ahead of Spurs’ north London derby with Arsenal, but both Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli are expected to be in contention.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, will have Christian Benteke available for their home meeting with Everton. Here’s our round-up of the team news so far, with nine press conferences still to come.

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero took to social media yesterday to declare himself fit for the trip to Leicester City, seemingly feeling no ill effects from the dizzy spell he suffered while on international duty with Argentina.

Pep Guardiola is due to speak later today and, while we’re expecting the City boss to remain cagey, the signs are that Aguero will be in the squad at the King Power Stadium. Whether he’s chosen for the starting line-up is another matter – Gabriel Jesus has been selected for each and every away match so far this season.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he doesn’t believe Olivier Giroud (thigh) will be fit for the derby with Spurs, while Shkodran Mustafi (thigh) and Danny Welbeck (groin) will be assessed today.

Toby Alderweireld will miss the trip to the Emirates due to a hamstring injury, and could be sidelined until after Christmas. But Mauricio Pochettino will be buoyed by the fact Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all returned to full training yesterday.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed he will make a late decision on Josh King, who hasn’t trained so far this week due to a back injury. Benik Afobe is back in contention after overcoming a groin injury, but Junior Stanislas remains sidelined.

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner will travel to the Vitality Stadium without the suspended Christopher Schindler. Martin Cranie is set to get the nod in his place. Meanwhwhile, the influential Aaron Mooy will be assessed today following his international exertions with Australia.

Similarly, Burnley manager Sean Dyche will assess Chris Wood today ahead of the home clash against Swansea City. The forward arrived back late from international duty with New Zealand and is also nursing a hamstring problem.

Paul Clement will be able to call upon Wilfried Bony, Renato Sanches, Leon Britton, Martin Olsson and Angel Rangel for the trip to Turf Moor after all five players missed the 1-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Christian Benteke is available for Crystal Palace’s home meeting with Everton, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek is doubtful due to a back spasm. He failed to train on Thursday and will undergo further assessment prior to Saturday’s clash.

Despite returning to training, Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina will miss the trip to Anfield due to an ankle injury.

Nacer Chadli picked up a fresh injury in training on Thursday ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s home encounter with Chelsea. Manager Tony Pulis has ruled out the Belgian “for the foreseeable future”. We will hear from Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte regarding knocks to Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi later today, though the latter is expected to miss out.

Chris Hughton has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion’s home clash against Stoke City on Monday night.

But the Potters will be without injured duo Jack Butland and Geoff Cameron for the trip to the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls have no new injury concerns, with Steve Sidwell their only notable absentee.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    Will Pep start Aguero this GW though he declared himself fit???
    Pep has started Jesus for the away games this season.... So what to do?? Will I keep Kun or replace him with Morata (nice upcoming fixtures)

      Nobody knows the answer to this question! Wait for the presser today but again I doubt that will help! My guess would be Kun will be benched but no idea! As an owner I feel your pain too 🙁

      buying and selling Aguero when you think he may or may not play is like trying to time the markets - it can't be done. Investors who buy and hold will be rewarded over the long term.

      Hard for Kun to start games when injured or fatigued. There’s been reasons for him not starting for all away games except BOU.

      I still can't decide who is the better pick between Daniels and Dann.

      I already have Zaha, so don't really fancy a Palace double up. They have always burnt me in the past.

      I took a hit to bring him in for Maguire last night. Hodgson is a defensive manager and Dann's stats are very encouraging. XG suggests that CPL have been very unlucky at both ends of the pitch so far.

      Don't let that stuff influence your pick. As an example, I went with Kane against West Ham while being at the game as a West Ham supporter, knowing that my mate had Lukaku.

        You have Lukaku for a reason. If you don't captain him now toy never will... That being said I think Morata could outscore him and comfortably put down Salah this week.

    Seems like as a good week as any to WC. Feedback appreciated!

    Pope / Elliot
    Daniels / Duffy / Mee / Moreno / Otamendi
    Salah / Sane / Zaha / Richarlson / Grob
    Kane / Lukaku / Abraham

    Aware Otamendi won't play but it seems i'll loose money on him getting rid and then transferring him back in next week

      Looks pretty tasty to me. Appreciate you're ahead of the curve on Daniels and Zaha, and they're being hotly tipped on here, but their returns so far haven't been great. How much do you have ITB?

      1. Merc with a goalmouth

        Just 0.1 ITB

        I've actually had Daniels since day 1. Mainly just sitting on my bench

        Looking at downgrading Grob to someone like Surman, Milivo or RLC but then can't see anyone good to put that on

        Upgrading choupo would cost -4 then

          I'm sorry. I didn't really think it through. Please don't hurt me.

          Taking Hazard out for a hit just feels a bit icky.

    I have Zaha in my wildcard team, does Benteke being back limit his appeal somewhat.

    Which combo is better?

    A) Eriksen + Surman
    B) Mahrez + Gross

    Reset of my attack includes Kane, Morata, Salah, Sane, Niasse & RLC

        Well if I go for option A then RLC will be the preferred 4th midfielder...

        And perhaps worth mentioning that I have a strong defence that includes Azpilicueta & Otamendi and likely to play 4 defenders every week

    Who do you think will start, Jesus or Aguero? I really need to sort my team out right now:

    Fabianski, Elliot
    JONES, LASCELLES,Maguire(OTAMENDI, Rosenior)
    Gross, D.Silva, Eriksen, Richarlison(Carroll)
    Kane,Morata,Jesus

    0.3 ITB and 2 FT. My plan was to do (A) but now I'm considering other transfers because of my defenders (But I dont want to transfer Jones/Otamendi beacuse I got them cheap). If Aguero is out I think I will keep Jesus and hope that Salah doesent score big, what do you say?

    A) Jesus + Carroll --> Salah + 4.5 Forward
    B) Eriksen --> Salah
    B) Lascelles --> Mee/Moreno/Daniels
    D) Eriksen + Lascelles --> Daniels + Salah
    C) Other

    Thanks.

      Honestly I think Brighton is due a haul. I'd love to bring in Murray for Abraham. Upgrading Hunemeier could be shrewd however.
