The Weekend Team News

Man City’s Sergio Aguero confirms his fitness for the trip to Leicester City. Toby Alderweireld is sidelined until around Christmas ahead of Spurs’ north London derby with Arsenal, but both Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli are expected to be in contention.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, will have Christian Benteke available for their home meeting with Everton. Here’s our round-up of the team news so far, with nine press conferences still to come.

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero took to social media yesterday to declare himself fit for the trip to Leicester City, seemingly feeling no ill effects from the dizzy spell he suffered while on international duty with Argentina.

Pep Guardiola is due to speak later today and, while we’re expecting the City boss to remain cagey, the signs are that Aguero will be in the squad at the King Power Stadium. Whether he’s chosen for the starting line-up is another matter – Gabriel Jesus has been selected for each and every away match so far this season.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he doesn’t believe Olivier Giroud (thigh) will be fit for the derby with Spurs, while Shkodran Mustafi (thigh) and Danny Welbeck (groin) will be assessed today.

Toby Alderweireld will miss the trip to the Emirates due to a hamstring injury, and could be sidelined until after Christmas. But Mauricio Pochettino will be buoyed by the fact Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all returned to full training yesterday.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed he will make a late decision on Josh King, who hasn’t trained so far this week due to a back injury. Benik Afobe is back in contention after overcoming a groin injury, but Junior Stanislas remains sidelined.

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner will travel to the Vitality Stadium without the suspended Christopher Schindler. Martin Cranie is set to get the nod in his place. Meanwhwhile, the influential Aaron Mooy will be assessed today following his international exertions with Australia.

Similarly, Burnley manager Sean Dyche will assess Chris Wood today ahead of the home clash against Swansea City. The forward arrived back late from international duty with New Zealand and is also nursing a hamstring problem.

Paul Clement will be able to call upon Wilfried Bony, Renato Sanches, Leon Britton, Martin Olsson and Angel Rangel for the trip to Turf Moor after all five players missed the 1-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Christian Benteke is available for Crystal Palace’s home meeting with Everton, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek is doubtful due to a back spasm. He failed to train on Thursday and will undergo further assessment prior to Saturday’s clash.

Despite returning to training, Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina will miss the trip to Anfield due to an ankle injury.

Nacer Chadli picked up a fresh injury in training on Thursday ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s home encounter with Chelsea. Manager Tony Pulis has ruled out the Belgian “for the foreseeable future”. We will hear from Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte regarding knocks to Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi later today, though the latter is expected to miss out.

Chris Hughton has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion’s home clash against Stoke City on Monday night.

But the Potters will be without injured duo Jack Butland and Geoff Cameron for the trip to the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls have no new injury concerns, with Steve Sidwell their only notable absentee.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Should i do Ota to Azpi for -4 now, or take the Ota drop and waste two transfers later to bring him in ?

So basically you are asking should you take a -4 (+ whatever Azpi scores this week) or play a sub, lose 0.1m and take a -8 later?

    FPL question:
If i play 3-5-2 and have bench order : FWD, DEF, DEF, and one of the defenders on the starting eleven does not play, will he be replaced? And if yes, then by whom?

I am asking because i will play with Jones on the field, 3 in defence and will have Hemed, Gamez and Otamendi(suspended), on the bench. So, if Jones does not play, it doesn't matter what order i will have on the bench.
Hemed will not be able to play, and Gamez will enter only if he actually plays(which he will probably not).

What do you reckon folks - GTG?

    DDG
    Jones Mee Moreno (Naughton BDavies)
    Salah Sterling Silva Richarlison
    Kane Abraham Aguero

Naughton (Bur) a decent replacement if Jones is injured.

Only concern aguero - worth a transfer to Lukaku or Morata?

Has Calvert-Lewin being playing wide? I know he started off the season at wing back.

Note Unsworth has said Bolasie is back training and Barkley has made his first steps. If that is the case, then maybe better off going for Niasse?

DCL has been playing everywhere, but he has been playing. Niasse is purely a striker but probably more effective at scoring, and I think we'll be playing him mainly as a 9 until January. Some rotation obviously. I think both a good picks for first or second sub. I own DCL, but would probably go Niasse if on WC.

Just don't captain Kane for easy home games. He seems to do very well in all his other games (check his points record if you ignore the easy home games he's played - 1, 1, 13, 13, 13, 16)

I like GroB. In a good run of form and has some decent fixtures coming up. Couple of tough ones too.

Gross looks the most consistent at the moment. I expect something like 2 or 3 assists in next 5?

      Cedric > 4.5 (Duffy)
Keep cash possibly to upgrade DCL.
      Lukaku (c)

    What are Aguero owners doing?
Especially those that DONT own Lukaku?
Surely Sergio is benched or 65m whereas Lukaku can do damage (c) in the next few?

I have Kane, Aguero, Vardy but bringing in Morata soon, probably Lukaku.

Not sure whether to take a 4pt hit to bring one in for Aguero. Waiting for Pep to speak....

Don’t see us getting much bar ‘Sergio is ok and good to go’

Holding because he still has potential to do very well, I have decent captain options, and other fires to put out

Finally the end of this torturous international break is nigh! Many have played wildcards. My thoughts have turned to saving pounds in defense, in order to invest up top and in midfield. As the fixtures come thick and fast nailed on players are a must on the bench. Scott dann and Charlie Daniels have been discussed endlessly over the lull. But can we field starters cheaper? Still in keeping with fixtures? Simon Francis at 4.4 can warm my bench nicely then but are there others that could help pinch those penny's and provide minutes when the first eleven fall foul of festive fever?

Trying to squeeze Morata in, is it worth it?

    WITH:

    Pope / Elliot
    Duffy / Daniels / Moreno / Otamendi / 3.9
    Salah / Sane / Richarlson / Milivojevic / Carroll
    Kane / Lukaku / Morata

    WITHOUT:

    Pope / Elliot
    Duffy / Daniels / Moreno / Otamendi / Mee
    Salah / Sane / Zaha / Richarlson / Grob
    Kane / Lukaku / Abraham

WITH looks good. I'd dg Otamendi though and get Mee and someone else.

Ritchie (mun) to Zaha (EVE) is worth a hit, isn't it? Especially as it's a long term transfer.

Nah, not a hit. Got a better player to come in for Ritchie?

How will you improve this team?

    Krul Elliott
    Kolasinac Jones Duffy Mee Hunemeier
    Eriksen Salah Sterling Cork Carroll
    Kane Lukaku Vardy

    1 FT 0.1 itb

    Thinking of Eriksen > Sane.
    Appreciate suggestions

I don't have 3 defenders that will play... I also have a waste of space in midfield.

Otamendi and Brady to Daniels and Zaha? Would be for a hit...

Or keep Brady and just do Otamendi?

Take the hit, Brady ain’t doing much really Chris.
