The Weekend Team News

Man City’s Sergio Aguero confirms his fitness for the trip to Leicester City. Toby Alderweireld is sidelined until around Christmas ahead of Spurs’ north London derby with Arsenal, but both Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli are expected to be in contention.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, will have Christian Benteke available for their home meeting with Everton. Here’s our round-up of the team news so far, with nine press conferences still to come.

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero took to social media yesterday to declare himself fit for the trip to Leicester City, seemingly feeling no ill effects from the dizzy spell he suffered while on international duty with Argentina.

Pep Guardiola is due to speak later today and, while we’re expecting the City boss to remain cagey, the signs are that Aguero will be in the squad at the King Power Stadium. Whether he’s chosen for the starting line-up is another matter – Gabriel Jesus has been selected for each and every away match so far this season.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he doesn’t believe Olivier Giroud (thigh) will be fit for the derby with Spurs, while Shkodran Mustafi (thigh) and Danny Welbeck (groin) will be assessed today.

Toby Alderweireld will miss the trip to the Emirates due to a hamstring injury, and could be sidelined until after Christmas. But Mauricio Pochettino will be buoyed by the fact Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all returned to full training yesterday.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed he will make a late decision on Josh King, who hasn’t trained so far this week due to a back injury. Benik Afobe is back in contention after overcoming a groin injury, but Junior Stanislas remains sidelined.

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner will travel to the Vitality Stadium without the suspended Christopher Schindler. Martin Cranie is set to get the nod in his place. Meanwhwhile, the influential Aaron Mooy will be assessed today following his international exertions with Australia.

Similarly, Burnley manager Sean Dyche will assess Chris Wood today ahead of the home clash against Swansea City. The forward arrived back late from international duty with New Zealand and is also nursing a hamstring problem.

Paul Clement will be able to call upon Wilfried Bony, Renato Sanches, Leon Britton, Martin Olsson and Angel Rangel for the trip to Turf Moor after all five players missed the 1-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Christian Benteke is available for Crystal Palace’s home meeting with Everton, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek is doubtful due to a back spasm. He failed to train on Thursday and will undergo further assessment prior to Saturday’s clash.

Despite returning to training, Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina will miss the trip to Anfield due to an ankle injury.

Nacer Chadli picked up a fresh injury in training on Thursday ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s home encounter with Chelsea. Manager Tony Pulis has ruled out the Belgian “for the foreseeable future”. We will hear from Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte regarding knocks to Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi later today, though the latter is expected to miss out.

Chris Hughton has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion’s home clash against Stoke City on Monday night.

But the Potters will be without injured duo Jack Butland and Geoff Cameron for the trip to the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls have no new injury concerns, with Steve Sidwell their only notable absentee.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I want to do it - have 0.9 in the bank, but would require a hit. Might just wait til next week. However I can't afford to lose 0.1 as I want to upgrade Pereira to Speroni.

I did it for a hit and got the price rise on Sane, not that I'd recommend that but I really dislike Sterling as a player and was mad with myself for weeks for penny pinching him into my team over Sane in the first place!

I don't get all this Dann love. The first and most important thing when choosing a def is the cs potential. Palace have not had one and Dann is averaging 1.2pts per game. Maybe you are buying him for his attacking threat? You don't get points for threat, you get them for goals and assists. He has none of those either

    1. Stokelona
      • 7 Years
      6 years, 5 months ago

Clean sheets and goals are coming, they have a defensive coach and a dream run of fixtures. And goals are coming too, you only have to watch a palace game to see that all set piece deliveries are aimed at him.

      1. Wild Rover
        • 13 Years
        6 years, 5 months ago

I'm not saying they will never get a cs or he won't get a goal, but do you really think there is going to be a big turnaround?

        1. Stokelona
          • 7 Years
          6 years, 5 months ago

Yeh I really think there will be a turnaround, Roy has organised them and they’re about to play many of the easiest teams in the league. Dann has missed loads of chances but that can’t carry on forever. I expect him to score at least 1 or 2 in the next 8.

    2. Rik Waller
      • 6 Years
      6 years, 5 months ago

Think I heard a stat about Palace conceding the fewest big chances over the last 4 games or something like that. And their fixtures are insanely good for 8 or so

      1. Wild Rover
        • 13 Years
        6 years, 5 months ago

Fewest big chances but they keep conceding? Lord help them when they concede a lot of chances 😉

    6. A.T
      • 13 Years
      6 years, 5 months ago

Agreed. A bit of both is nice but if there's not much CS potential I don't see the point. How many goals is Dann expected to score over a season and what are the chances of him doing it when you own him? Slim chances I'd say. You can get better CS potential with the same goal threat elsewhere.

But Palace are due a CS and Dann is due a goal. Woy is the best defensive coach in the world, it’s just bad luck that they haven’t had a CS all season.

    8. pundit of punts
      • 11 Years

It's not about the past when it's regarding a player who has some FPL pedigree.

It's about anticipating what may happen in the near future and act accordingly. Dann has some juicy fixtures in the near future and Hodgson teams don't concede goals for fun.

For e.g. wouldn't you get Kane in if he had blanked in the last 4 but had say HUD and WHM in the next two?

      P.S. - Not a Dann owner/potential owner.

You need to get him before he scores not after. CPL has improved and they have had quite difficult fixture list until now.

CPL fixtures and goals conceded so far: HUD goals conceded 3, liv 1, SWA 2, bur 1, SOU 1, mci 5, mun 4, CHE 1, new 1, WHU 2, tot 1,

Not sure if I will pick him or not on WC atm.

I get what you're saying but I bought him. He's on my bench this week but I feel he's a decent shout coming into this hectic schedule. Palace look an improving team to be fair, they have a great run of fix, he has great attacking stats, he's going to play every game more than likely bar injury/suspension.
