Community Watch – Matchweek 6

Hello and welcome to another update of the Community Watch tournament.

The fifth round of matches was played in Gameweek  11 and now every team has at least one win under their belts.

Matchweek 5 Review

Matagascar finally had their first win of the season beating Salahmon Islands in a low scoring game, with a score of 381 – 326.

Of the six teams who had three wins each in their first four games, only Mozampique and Reussia managed to win in the fifth round. In what were two very tight games, both scored 400 points each, with their opponents scoring 394 and 395 respectively.

Elsewhere, Messidonia’s 69 point victory over Bolivia Giroud was the biggest win margin of the week. This win gives them a huge boost in the league table, jumping to  third place, with the highest total points scored among all teams.

Mbokani Faso recorded the highest score of the week as they beat Blindia 438 – 389.

A not very successful attempt at building team identity, and it looks a bit odd when no-one else does it. However, we do finish each other sentences ....

The Salah-mon Islands are in the midst of a mini heatwave, the sky unblemished by clouds and the air breezeless and humid. Yet there on the pristine beach are team Blindia in training for the 10th day in a row, their thick muscles shimmering with sweat like hot, oily sausages on a barbeque. Salah-mon Islanders Lord, Sune and Knuckles, each one covered head to foot with light blue sun block looking like overgrown smurfs, are stood watching the Blindians train,. “How do they do it!?” exclaims Lord, “they’re machines!”. Sune just stands there open mouthed while his ice cream slowly melts down over his blue hand and wrist, while Knuckles is clearly feeling more optimistic. “They are over cooking it a bit, no? Surely they’ll be too tired when we get to the match?”, he says with a sly smirk. Swanmoretime suddenly appears, having run full pelt from the Green Windmill one mile behind them. “Guys!”, he says urgently, “I’m really worried about Boris”. “So are we, he’s not come out of his office in the Windmill since we lost to Matagascar! He was so sure we would win that one after the way we smashed those Reussians...”, says Lord. “I know!”, sighs Swanmore, “but now there’s a constant banging coming from his office, I think he may have lost it this time!”.
They all start jogging back to try and sort out their heroic yet troubled captain, and arrive at the bottom of the Green Windmill to see rjcv177, Torreslove and unitednations trying to open the locked windmill door. “BOSS, BOSS! Just open up, we can sort this all out!”, cries TL, barely audible above the loud thuds coming from inside. “What on earth is he doing in there?”, says rjcv’, “is he building something?”. Knuckles hammers on the green door as loud as he can, “BOSS, I THINK I KNOW HOW TO BEAT THE BLINDIANS!”, but the banging inside continues, “BOSS….WILDCARDS!.......”.
All of a sudden the banging ceases and they hear footsteps flying down the stairs just before the door flies open. “Wildcards you say?” says Boris with a maniacal expression on his face. All of his team mates just stand there taking in his appearance – Boris is wearing brightly coloured Bermuda shorts and nothing else, and, like the Blindians, is dripping with sweat as though someone had just emptied a bucket of water over his head. However, as distracting as this is, it is the huge bruise on his forehead that they are all gawping at. “Boss what happened to your head?”, whispers UN. “Oh,” says Boris, “it’s my new training regime - no armed push ups. Now, about these wildcards…..”.
Meanwhile, as the Salah-mon Islanders start discussing their tactics, the Blindian Captain, Viratkohli, a tall, muscly man who would give most brick out-houses a run for their money, continues his brutal training regime by lighting the coals in preparation for his ‘walk of fire’ bonding exercise he has planned for this evening. Out of earshot from his team mates he quietly serenades himself with his own song about crushing smurfs on a football pitch, full of confidence that his team will be victorious and unaware of the dastardly trick the Islanders have up their sleeve….”la la lala la la, sing a happy song,”…..

With the wrap up of the international break and a strenuous first day full day of training under a blistering tropical sun behind them, Team Mozampique regroup at their favorite seaside watering hole - Fantasy Island - to quench their thirst and plan for the upcoming derby clash against arch rivals Matagascar - the hated "Gasbags." As they are escorted to their permanently reserved VIP table, a hush envelopes them as conversations halt, heads turn and the faithful gaze at them with reverence. Then, just as quickly, the bar is alive with applause, hoots and hollers for their heroes. Looking around, Prophet says to his mates
    "I don't see Crouch. I had a premonition he'd be here"

As they take their seats, the bartender - a once great player, now over the hill and way past his prime - races over from behind his station. "Hey mates, I've got a few tips for you for the big match," he announces eagerly. As he launches into his unsolicited lecture about a the merits of the 5-2-3 formation, JT's Dog, who's quite parched and has been panting patiently, glances at AZ and back at the barman, and emits his patented low-pitched growl. Sensing the danger and ever the diplomat, AZ politely cuts the barman off. "Thanks Ronka, it's been a long day and we could really use some drinks first."

"Sure, sure, sure, AZ. What'll be boys?", asks Ronka.

"Absolute and tonic", says Snazzy Viking. "Rum and Coke", says Kane Toads. "Make mine a classic tall Mohito", Annie says. "I'll have," starts Revival, when he's cut off by Baines on Toast and MikeHrbrw, who simultaneously shout "CROUCHY!!!", in the direction of the team mascot, an enormous giraffe strolling into the bar wearing a huge, colorful "Mozampique" derby scarf.

Not missing a beat, Crouch looks over to Ronka and crows "Highballs on me. We're top of the table,"

You probably know the Grabbangladesh team by now.
Mbokani seems to have relied on Tottenham players more than Grabbangladesh which is good news for us.
We want Lukaku to do well.
Both teams have Jones so the bench may be very important.
Good luck for the following weeks

The Blindians have been kicked out of the nightclub (that synchronised birdie song dance was the last straw), and there're now posing for photos on the beach. I think VK is working on his Christmas video.

Meanwhile the Salahs are preparing for battle. We're expecting trouble so United Nations has the armband with GWM, Lord, Rjvc177, Sune, Knuckles and Boris raring to go and backed with an arsenal brimming with nuclear tipped wildcards.

The sun is shining in the Salahmons - its time to put down the Blinds.

Mystic Meg and the team abacus are in agreement, the Salahmons are on track for another convincing victory. Taking account of autosubs I make the score 511-443 with the following differentials to come:

        Salahs: Ryan(3), Dunk
        Blindians: Gross(2), Cresswell

Proof against even my poor numeracy I think.

It is looking good for Grabbangladesh. We're 45 points ahead.
Mbokani need to hope for a clean sheet for Brighton and a high score from Richarlison.
Choupo-Moting will be good for us.

Your 81 with more to come really helped.
          The differentials are
          Grab - (2 x Choupo), (1 x Kiko)
          Mbo - (2 x Duffy), (2 x Gros), (2 x Richarlison), (1 x Dunk)

        3. Morph - Unbelievable Geoff

          I have,

          Grabbangladesh: 53pts + Kiko + Choupo-Moting
          -vs-
Mbokani Faso: Gomes, Duffy, Dunk, Richarlison x2, Gross x2

So a Brighton clean-sheet and double-digits from Richarlison and Gross, 'might' be enough. We could need a Gomes penalty save too.

Lukaku x8 was too much for us, with Kane and Eriksen both blanking - well played.

You could well be right about the points. I tend to be a bit sloppy with my calculations.
I didn't take hit points into account so if your score had counted I would have counted it as 80 (well done) rather than 72 because of the hit points (-8). In fact, looking at Mbokani it appears that your manager benched those who took hits.
A goal by Choupo-Moting will put any worries to bed.

Yes, I've tried to. May not be 100% accurate.

              I've now got...
              Grabbangladesh: 36pts + Choupo-Moting x2
              -vs-
              Duffy, Dunk, Gross x2.

I think we need 2-0 Brighton - with both goals being Gross assists and with one of our defenders scoring - to be even close.

Factoring in hits and definite subs I reckon we are 37 points ahead
              Differentials are
              Grab - (2 x Choupo) , (1 x Rosenior)

                2x Duffy is right, thanks.

Not sure about the points difference, I recounted and made it 39 this time

Fashanu Zealand v Kenyaya, by my calculations taking into account autosubs, cancellations etc.

FNZ: Richarlison, Hart; Dunk, Gross, Chopu-Moting
        Kenyaya: 7pts + Kiko; Ryan

Think it’s pretty safe to call it a Mozampique victory unless Duffy scores a hat trick of og’s and about 5 other hyper unlikely scores happen.

True. A West Ham goal would have been much appreciated but lets hope Shaqiri and GroB show some class tomorrow and narrow the gap

        Reussia:

        68*2 + 48 + 54 + 41 + 65 + 66 + 58 = 468

        Richarlison * 4
        Choupo-Moting * 2
        Gross * 2
        Dunk * 1

        Cech Republic

        68 * 2 + 74 + 69 + 56 + 57 + 79 + 44 = 515

        Richarlison * 7
        Choupo-Moting * 1
        Dunk * 2
        Mariappa * 1
        Cresswell * 1
        Duffy * 1
        Gomes * 1

Unless I've made some mistakes! Cech Republic look set to take this one.

at the top of league again tonight
Playing so well we are out of sight
For my manager from his bench began to rise
        And suddenly to my surprise
        He did the mash
        He did the moza mash
        The moza mash
        Another team we smash
        He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
        He did the mash
        He did the moza mash
        From Hungary in Europe east
To Gabon we have tamed that beast
The teams all came from their humble abode
Fell to mighty moza and then back down the road
        We did the mash
        We did the moza mash
        The moza mash
        Another team we smash
        We did the mash
It caught on in a flash
        We did the mash
        We did the moza mash

            You met the Desh
            You walloped the Desh.

I then had to suffer the image of drunken men lying on a beach - they were drinking Guinness and blackcurrent I believe I had visions of coconuts and I can't describe where I wanted to put them.
I suspect you caused the turning point of our season so thank you.

                Dear Boris,
I do enjoy your posts but I suspect you are really part of the Reussians and your posts are all fake news.

No Boris. I am suggesting that your prose is so colourful, rich in texture and emotive it is designed to produce fear in the other teams. To produce such a work of art would require a large state behind it and I heard a tale of Reussia state involvement. A state the size of the Salahmon Islands whose economy seems based on Guinness and coconuts would not be capable of such work.
Also when your Lord suggests a Giveaway is this his attempt of a bribe?
The Desh will not be bought. We will fight to the end

Ah I see what you mean, but I was named after my father, who was only on the island for a few months as part of a student exchange program our university did with Eton College. Never heard from him since. Apparently he was quite a gregarious fellow!
I assure you that the only thing behind my rich, colourful prose is copious amounts of our local brew, Kava, which apparently has hallucinogenic properties.
And I am glad to hear that your team is not 'for sale', by the way. I have always said, that any bribes will not affect our performance one way or the other, but will of course be gratefully received. 🙂

Anyone else finding that they have a few players left for Sun/Mon and while you want them to do well they are also your CW rivals differentials so you kinda don’t?
