Dugout Discussion – Watford vs West Ham

Sunday’s solitary fixture gets underway at 4pm as Watford welcome West Ham United to Vicarage Road.

The Hornets’ Richarlison is still searching for his first home goal since signing in the summer, with all four of his strikes arriving on the road.

Nonetheless, the young Brazilian – who is the most popular Fantasy Premier League asset from today’s encounter, with 18% ownership – has still supplied points against both Liverpool and Arsenal in front of his own fans.

Those holding Richarlison will be keeping a keen eye on his performance today – after next week’s trip to Newcastle has passed, Watford are braced for a run of three testing fixtures (MUN TOT bur).

West Ham roll up on the back of the worst defensive record in the opening 11 Gameweeks, having conceded 23 times.

They’ll be desperate for shoots of improvement under David Moyes, though they need to make do without injured top scorer Chicharito. The new Hammers boss hands Andy Carroll a first start since Gameweek 7 in light of his fellow forward’s absence.

It’s a sign of the visitors’ malaise that the Mexican is their only outfield player with more than 2% ownership in FPL.

And with clashes against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal just around the corner in Gameweek 17-19, that lack of interest is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If a player had 7 blanks in 11 would you keep hold of him?

What if the same player cost £12.8m?

I can't help thinking that more people would be selling Kane if the scoutcast team weren't so unconditionally pro-Kane.

This is my biggest worry. If I can't reliably captain him and then he's out. That's the ONLY reason he's worth his premium tag

I'm not blaming anyone. I'm simply asking why more people on here aren't taking a long, hard look at Kane? There is a sense that Kane is shielded from the criticism other strikers would get.

Pedigree. People are almost afraid of him potentially exploding and them missing out on those points having held through the blanks.

I think those games away to Leicester and Hull are still subconsciously influencing our thinking. Many a mini-league would have been decided on the back of his ownership and captaincy in those games. The 'fear' of not having him lives on.

Whether that fear is still relevant or not, is another issue.

Because of fear. He is nailed, on penalites, explosive, great fixtures, proven player.

But I agree he is not worth it, but I will not change him out

36,000 people watch/listen to the scoutcast ... so maybe a little wave.

I'm very reluctant to go against their advice ... I'm sure many others are, too.

Fair enough. You seem bright, and well-versed in all things FPL. I think you should start trusting your gut more (e.g., Hazard and Sanchez). It's worked for you in the past.

I'm not sure why you are worried that other people have him, it's better for mine owners if more people have a bad player. I'm keeping for now reasses as the weeks go by. When he and Spurs play well he will score massively

For me, he will be there or there abouts for the PL golden boot at the end of the season.
He’s the most nailed centre forward at any of the top six.
Season keeper, he’ll blank sometimes of course, but it’s worth the risk for the overall season points

I usually have my mind made up about before listening to the Scoutcast since it comes so late in the week.

Watching the games, I have as much info as them and only listen to it to reinforce some of my thinking and because it's just like a TV show that I can flick on and listen without having to concentrate too much
