Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 12 – Sunday

Richarlison ends his Vicarage Road goal drought as Will Hughes catches the eye against West Ham. Elsewhere, the heroics of Heurelho Gomes helps the Hornets to a rare clean sheet as David Moyes’ tenure at West Ham begins with defeat.

Richarlison ends home drought

Such a reliable source of goals and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points on his travels, Richarlison finally found the net at home after failing to produce a single effort on target in his previous five at Vicarage Road.

Owned by 18%, the young Brazilian’s home output was of particular concern bearing in mind that his next two visitors are Manchester United and Spurs in Gameweek 14-15.

Yet Sunday’s strike maintained a remarkable run of consistency – he’s now delivered attacking points in six of the last seven Gameweeks ahead of next weekend’s trip to Newcastle United.

Heightening his appeal for that Magpies clash is that, away from home, Richarlison has averaged 7.2 points per match and is the league’s top player for shots inside the opposition box (20).

On the downside, he also has a testing trip to Burnley directly after those United and Spurs matches. But the case for holding is very convincing, with the fixtures turning in his favour from Gameweek 17 once again.

At a price of 6.5, Richarlison is now the top FPL midfielder for value in terms of points per million and sits fifth in the midfield standings on 66 points.

Despite that, his inability to claim bonus points continues to dent the South American’s captaincy potential. He has scored or assisted in eight of the first 12 Gameweeks but has earned bonus points on just two occasions.

Today’s BPS haul was limited by two shots off target and two fouls conceded, while he was also tackled twice.

Hughes impresses in tactical tweak

Handed a central support role alongside Richarlison as Marco Silva moved to 3-4-2-1 against the Hammers, Will Hughes overshadowed his more popular team-mate thanks to a goal, assist and maximum bonus.

But Watford’s form on the road suggests that Silva could revert to his usual 4-2-3-1 at St James’ Park – only Man City (16) and Chelsea (14) have scored more away goals than the Hornets’ 12.

Regardless of formation, Hughes (4.6) now looks likely to be on the teamsheet for the trip to Tyneside after months on the periphery.

Handed just 10 minutes in the opening 10 Gameweeks, Hughes has now started both of Watford’s last two. However, Roberto Pereyra made a return to the bench and replaced the former Derby County man late on; he will doubtless threaten Hughes’ start in weeks to come.

Andre Gray was again a starter up front as Troy Deeney served the second match in a three-match suspension. Gray’s scuffed assist for Hughes’ opener was his second in as many matches.

Gomes keeps it clean

Silva can thank Heurelho Gomes for their first clean sheet in eight attempts after he denied Cheick Kouyate and Marko Arnautovic with superb stops.

Indeed, David Moyes can at least take encouragement from the fact that his side had three big chances today – they had managed just six in their previous six road trips under Slaven Bilic.

For the hosts, the decision to bench Jose Holebas came as a surprise as Marvin Zeegelaar (4.4) earned his first outing of the season at left wing-back. Holebas had played every minute of the previous 10 matches he had been available for, only missing the Gameweek 3 encounter against Brighton due to suspension.

Ranked top for crosses (82) and successful crosses (17) among defenders, Holebas is second only to Ben Davies for key passes (15 to 22) at the back.

Watford’s primary corner taker over the first 11 (he had taken 33 of their first 50), Holebas’ absence saw Hughes also claim dead-ball duties, taking all three of Watford’s corners.

Zeegelaar impressed on his first start, picking up two bonus points on his debut having won three tackles. Kiko Femenía – our preferred option among Silva’s defence – picked up a single bonus point but hobbled off late on with a knock.

Elsewhere, Adrian Mariappa – a 4.0 option in FPL – also earned a notable recall in Silva’s three-man defence having been dropped for the previous two outings.

However, like Hughes, Mariappa will surely have strong competition for his starting role with Sebastian Prödl returning from injury to figure on the bench on Sunday. Younes Kaboul is also on the road to recovery, with Silva likely to go into the busy Christmas period with the option to rotate his centre-backs.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This mostly assumes Kun plays champions league midweek, but I think if you keep him for one game you have to keep him for three. Even though he might not play next weekend. So it's whether you think there's a better option to do right now or best to wait and get 2FTs to have more options.

I think you’re making a good point on Agüero. I expect him to play midweek and be back on the bench next gameweek, but then City has a great home fixture vs Southampton midweeek that I hope he starts.

    Elliot Speroni
    Jones Ward Daniels Dunk Yedlin
    Eriksen Salah Sane Richarlison T.Carroll
    Kane Aguero Abraham

Have 0ITB and 1FT but will to do a -4. Cheers!

It may seem like the most boring transfer, but I think Tarroll to Loftus-Cheek will pay off over the hectic schedule coming up.

I wouldn’t transfer Eriksen out when he has West Brom next, that’s a game where I would expect him to be the best Spurs asset.

Kane or Agüero to Morata seems good, but wait till gameweek 14 with that one, I guess.

You might want to do something about Jones, but I think you would like to upgrade him to a Chelsea defender, so then you need money from, say, Eriksen to Pogba at a later stage.

Cause of bad choices had to take a massive -28 points this week...luckily every single player I put in delivered, ddg, walker, zaha, sane, ibe, lukaku, gray and waiting for dunk got 72 points, normal team would have had 45 so, if dunk delivers tomorrow it would mean that despite taking such a big hit I m still better off...and now team is sorted for next 2/3,no need changes..soo happy with that

    (Lost on the previous article)

Can someone help explain how it works with the rankings and the ownership of players?
Yesterday was supposed to be the day with all the highly owned players and i went up from 123,000 to 45500
Today i didn't own any players including the likes of Richarlison (18.5%) and Doucore (17.5%) and only fell from 45500 to 54000

Can we say the captaincy is the main and more important factor than ownership?

Suddenly there are several mids that would be better in my team than Aguero who will get rotated a lot starting soon (two midweek GWs coming up soon and then Christmas)... So thinking Aguero --> Niasse (is he really nailed on though??) and then I can upgrade King to any midfielder in the game... Options would be Sterling, Coutinho, Pogba, and Hazard... My mid now is:

    Sane - RLC - Richarlison - King - Salah

Sterling will get rotated, but all of Coutinho, Pogba and Hazard are nailed I reckon... If I get Pogba, for instance, I'd then have 4 million in the bank to get Apilicueta for instance, or DDG, or upgrade RLC to a Sterling.... Seems too delish to ignore!!

I'm keeping Aguero. I didn't put him in if I didn't thin khe'd get me explosive points.

Pick one of Silva/Pogba/Hazard and then the midfield looks great

Do you fancy keeping Aguero one more week.for Huddlesfield. Wait to see line up for CL?
That's my current thinking before getting morata.

Yeah, I will keep him for Huddersfield if it seems like he'll start, but then after that it's a midweek game which he won't start if he starts at weekend... Only have 1FT now so consider saving now/keeping Aguero and making the swap for free for the midweek GW!

I have a doubt between two options:

    A) Diouf - Cresswell to Niasse - Otamendi
    OR
    B) Jones - Cresswell to Mee - Otamendi

    Team:

    Hart/Elliott
    Jones/Alonso/Moreno/Daniels/Cresswell
    Silva/Sterling/Salah/Zaha/Carroll
    Diouf/Morata/Kane

    A or B? Other suggestions?

What are everybody’s thoughts on Demarai Gray.

Only 5.3. Could be a decent option?

I got him last week. Look more nailed than Albrighton atm.
      Decent 4th midfielder I think.

    Which do you prefer:

    A) Pogba, Walker, Daniels (0.7itb)
    B) Coutinho, Walker, Mee (0.1itb)
    C) Hazard, Daniels, Mee (0itb)
    D) any other combination for 20.1m

For the record this is my team
    Pope, Elliot
    Azpi, Jones, ____, ____, Moreno
    Salah, Sane, ____, Richarlison, Loftus-Cheek
    Kane, Morata, Niasse

Hey guys, which option looks best here? 1 FT and 0.2 ITB

    A - Sterling > Pogba
    B - Hegazi > Daniels
C - Vardy > Wilson (to free up funds to upgrade Sterling)
    D - Jesus > Morata

    DDG
    Jones - Mee - Azpi
    Salah - Sterling - Richarlison - GroB
    Kane - Jesus - Vardy

    Elliott - Carroll - Hegazi - Mbemba

    Save FT?

    Elliot Krul

    Jones Mee Naughton Daniels Mbemba

    Salah Richarlison Zaha Silva Carroll

    Kane Lukaku Jesus

Want Morata, Pogba etc. But can wait a week for it. I think. Kane blanks vs WBA and I'll sell, almost immediately.
