Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Stoke

Gameweek 12 comes to its conclusion at the Amex Stadium this evening as Brighton entertain Stoke at 8pm.

For the hosts, Pascal Gross has been the standout asset in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Sitting in over 19% of FPL squads, the playmaker has averaged 7.2 points per match (ppm) in front of his own fans – when on the pitch, he’s played a part in 83% of their home goals.

Four strikes in the Seagulls’ last three league outings have brought Glenn Murray (5.8) onto our radars as a potential budget frontman – over 112,000 acquired him for Gameweek 12.

Up against a defence that has conceded at least twice in six of their last eight, Murray is the most captained player for tonight’s encounter, handed the armband by 6,868 managers compared with Gross’ 3,904 backers.

The Potters’ two most popular players, Eric Choupo-Moting (5.8%) and Xherdan Shaqiri (5.3%), have struggled on their travels, with just an away assist between them (for the latter) in five road trips.

Yet the duo’s home form means that, overall, they’ve still averaged a decent 4.0 and 4.5 ppm respectively this season. And clashes with Palace and Swansea in the next three could warrant further attention for the midfield pair.

Brighton, though, have been fairly resilient at home – league leaders Manchester City, in a 2-0 win in Gameweek 1, are the only side to have scored more than one goal away to Chris Hughton’s men.

        my captain choices this season have been either Kane or Kun week in week out and its got me nothing pretty mcuh every week so screw it. No doubt Kane will nab a hattie now the armband is off. Im even tempted to chuck it on Mahrez tbh vs Wham. It can be any worse then what I have been getting so far 🙂

        Isn't it.
        My other strikers and midfielders are Kane, Sane, Salah and Hazard and I can't justify dropping those.

      Think I'd lean B. Stones being out makes Otamendi really appealing and Coutinho has a chance to make a mockery of his price. I wouldn't be upset having any of those 6 players though.

      Probably C, Chelsea defence will be a must.
      Next up would be B if you don't have Salah.
      As for A, I don't trust Liverpool's defence and they play Chelsea and then 2 matches away.

      I'd be heavily considering 1 if Kun plays CL, would want Morata from gw14 anyway and can't have 11.6m tied up in a player than is a rotation risk

    With so many players hitting form this is becoming a real selection ballache.

    I'm doing well.. on 721 pt. OR: 22K
    But always looking to improve.

    Current Mids:
    Sane Sterling RLC Salah Richalison

    Upfront:
    Kane Morata Lukaku

    I could easily stick for a few weeks but there are players starting to dominate that i feel need to be brought it i.e. Hazard and Pogs

    I will stick this coming week to get ft but following that I'm thinking:

    Players to get chop:
    Richarlison - fixtures
    Lukaku - low returns
    Sterling - no real reason other than Pogs has more influence

    Leaves me with one MC player which is a big worry!!

    Not sure what to do... if anyone has any ideas let me know!

          the Man U fans seem to be going crazy about him, his confidence is sky high at the moment and he still believes 100% they can win the league. If he doesnt nab at the weekend then im very surprised. I expect a double digit haul from him. But thats just my gut, its your decision.

    This is so frustrating. Overall my team has been clearly better than my ML rival's, but he keeps getting lucky with captains and I keep getting the shaft and now I'm ~60 points behind. Keeping in mind he's used all of his chips...

    His last 3 (c): 24, 30, 32 (Sane, Salah, Salah)
    My last 3 (c): 4, 4, 2 (Silva, Kane, Kane)

    Sane and Silva were both (vc) when Aguero didn't play.
    That's a 76 (!!!) point swing in 3 weeks from what is essentially a coin toss decision between a team's big hitters.

      Yes captain choice makes a big difference and literally doubles some peoples gw scores. My biggest failing season in season out is captain choice. Never ever get it right it seems, very frustrating

      I think it's possible, but it's also up in the air. Lukaku looks to be way down the list. I believe Mourinho said Mata was first choice at one point, but Pogba's name has also been up there. And Martial has won and taken a lot this season and has a knack for greedily snatching the ball.

                Hopefully so, also a Liverpool fan so it makes me very happy. My only concern is a bad injury but his injury record is pretty good touch wood. Form wise don't see it dropping as he's been consistently good for Roma the last 2 seasons as well.

          Yeah, any other team, I'd be fine, but I got away not owning any Che against West Brom. Not sure if I can get away without owning Kane against them. Wish Alli's form (not FPL output) were a little more predictable. He's either grabbing a brace of goals/assists or being utterly anonymous.

    So... I'd planned to ship out Lukaku after the upcoming Brighton match (for Aguero initiallly, but now I'm thinking maybe Kane). Anyway, I've just gone to ckeck how much value I'd lose on him if I transferred him out (had him since GW1) and then transferred him back in for GW 17, and I was surprised to see he's currently back at his GW1 price of £11.5m.

      I agree with the above replies. I was only thinking of losing him for ars/MCI, then getting him back ASAP. The main point I was making is that I was surprised his price isn't higher.

    Need some help. why do some people post their OR when asking for advice?

    A. They only want advice from higher ranked teams
    B. To ensure those providing advice know what’s at stake and take it more seriously
    C. It’s an an alternative method of letting us know how awesome they are, and they couldn’t really care less about what we think they should do.

    Any help appreciated
