Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Kane Delivers in Son Show

Having witnessed Harry Kane fail to produce a goal or an assist in five of his previous home matches, the striker’s two million Fantasy owners will have been anxious ahead of his run-out against Stoke City.

But Kane banished those doubts by helping himself to a pair of goals and a 12-point return as Spurs routed the Potters at Wembley Stadium.

As expected, it was perhaps Stoke’s incompetence rather than Spurs’ form that was the major factor in Saturday’s contest.

Mark Hughes side had already conceded 30 goals prior to the 5-1 defeat, second only to West Ham who had shipped 32. Perhaps more significantly, they had allowed 35 big chances – more than any other side.

Those statistics were always likely to play into the hands of Mauricio Pochettino’s attack, who eventually ran riot following an early own goal from Ryan Shawcross.

It was Son Heung-min who provided the assist for that opening strike, with his deflected cross turned in by the Stoke skipper.

The South Korean, rather than Kane, was Spurs’ star performer, producing a goal and two assists to claim 16 points. Son now has four goals and those two assists from his last six Gameweek starts.

Owned by just 1.8%, he could yet be a factor in our seasons on this form. Certainly, if he can cement a starting role, Son is currently promising to outpace both Chrisitan Eriksen and Dele Alli as midfield options.

That pair were also in the points, Alli returning his fourth assist of the season, while Eriksen got on the scoresheet to notch his fourth goal.

Both have suffered huge ownership losses in recent Gameweeks and, despite Saturday’s points, that’s unlikely to be reversed given the competition for places in Fantasy midfields.

But Kane is starting to look unopposed as the premium striker option.

He rewarded the 1.1 million who made him the Gameweek’s top captain pick, a total which included 36 of the top 100 FPL managers.

With Morata failing earlier in the day at West Ham, Romelu Lukaku off form and the Man City options still engaged in a job share, it’s surely difficult to overlook Kane following his latest Wembley returns.

He had seven shots with three big chances today – more than any other player in the Gameweek.

He now has four goals from his last four Gameweeks, is second only to Mohamad Salah in the overall standings (94 vs 113) and will surely be the leading captain pick for Wednesday’s Gameweek 17 home meeting with Brighton.

Subject to over 105,000 sales prior to today’s return – with a net loss of 36,000 owners – Kane is already the most bought player ahead of Tuesday’s 6.45 deadline.

Spurs defence remains a no-go

While Son and Kane inspired the attack, there is little amongst Pochettino’s rearguard to tempt Fantasy interest.

With the injured Toby Alderweireld still sidelined and Davinson Sanchez ruled out through suspension, Spurs were short on options. They duly shifted to a back four and a 4-2-3-1, a formation that pinned both Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier as full-backs.

That pair still raided forward, providing 12 crosses as Davies contributed a hanging centre for Kane’s first goal – the fourth assist of the season from the Welshman.

But with Serge Aurier and Danny Rose doubtless lined up for starts against the Seagulls, there is little currently security on offer. And with just one clean sheet from the last eight Gameweeks, the frailties created by Alderweireld’s absence remain an issue.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Zaha & Vardy -> Hazard & non-playing 4.5 forward for -4?

Have Morata and the other 2 subs are decent starters (Dunk & Naughton)

Probably rather Coutinho and a better forward at this stage but depends if you have him already and howmuch Chelsea you have and want

I know that mate (although he’s only, been there a year and a half), and I think he’s a very good player, but he looks knackered. Chelsea desperately lack another left footer to play there so he usually gets a free pass, but he clearly needs a rest

I think he came off as they went for more attacking players like Willian and Pedro. Alonso is more of a solid player who starts games and if winning keeps on playing. But can make way in situations like that when more attacking players needed. Moses won't often come off in a situation like that

Yes, because, once again players need rest. Hazard especially suffers from burnout sometimes, and was injured for a few months. Think both Morata and Hazard will be rotated over the coming games.

Would you change 1 of your keepers or Daniels or just save?
Key point~ Still have my 1st WC so max just a few weeks left with this lot.

    Fabianski.
    Kolasinac, Mee, Christensen.
    Ramsey, Richarlison, Sterling, Salah.
    Kane, Morata, Vardy.
    Elliot, Daniels, Carroll, Mbemba.
    1ft, 0.2m in bank.

    Thinking~
    1. Gomes in for Fabianski? (great fixtures anyway).
    2. Speroni in for Elliot (at least he plays~ maybe).
    3. Daniels to a better option (5.1m)
    4. Other?

Hi everyone what would you be thinking about doing with this defence. 1FT 0.2 ITB

    Courtois (Speroni)
    Otamendi Mee Daniels (Chilwell/Moreno)
    Hazard Salah Sterling Richarlison Gross
    Kane Morata Niasse

I'm thinking Moreno to Masuaku or Ogbonna but not sure if that's wise. Not sure if I can save with this team this week might be too thin. Think I'd like to do upgrade Gross soon to someone like Ramsey or Coutinho if possible. Thanks in advance.

Firmino and Masuaku/Ogbonna in my opinion if affordable. Seems a bit to cheap up forward without having a really standout midfield. I like the Mahrez pick though

I bought mahrez this week good he scored a goal wanted to get son also but rotation risk midweek kept me away and he got the 16 pts

Ye Son comes with a bit more risk. Mahrez looks a good differential

Murray has nice fixtures besides Spurs and Chelsea. I'm thinking of getting rid of Niasse and Murray potential replacement

Do you think Gross is worth holding for those fixtures?

Thoughts on this lot? 2ft .5itb

    Court
    Cahill, Ota, Mee
    Salah, Sterling, Zaha, Chupo
    Kane, Morata, Firminio

    Elliot, Kiko, Carroll, Fernandez

I'd try upgrade Choupo or Zaha. Probably downgrade Cahill. Courtois enough Chelsea defence at the moment. And your other 4 defenders are pretty solid.

Considering Cahill & Fernandez to Christensen & Jones.

Zaha to Ramsey an option also.

It's a decent option. I just feel Fernandez will be nailed again soon enough and may be worth keeping.

United’s fixtures are great after city I’m thinking a defender is a must from them. Can sell Kiko or Mee if the injury is longer than expected.

Yeah I agree with their fixtures. Just don't think I want to get Valencia at that price and not sure any others will play majority of games

Yep. Daniels and Zeeg are a priority. Looking at Daniels to Mariappa and Zeeg to a 5.3 defender. Lindelof?

Probably if Moreno out a while. I would like to have Sane for Swansea. Would also like hazard though. See what happens with DCL then make the decision in my opinion

Sounds about right, Jay on 32 points with 9 to come off his bench, and three to play. He should make the top 50 overall by the end of the weekend. Peter's had a nightmare so far!

    Defense in tatters.
Who is the priority to switch (ideally to Jones)?
    A. Daniels
    B. Moreno
    C. Mee
Other two are Christensen and Wardinho

    Good morning DZ.

Since there won't be time for a Scoutcast, I will do my rough with the smooth now,

Rough - Dann to Kiko(FT) - Kiko no show, Dann goal 🙁

    Smooth - Kane(C)

      Who is your captain?

I think so far this gameweek is divided by those who captained Kane and those who didn't. Salah probably only captain who can change it. Sort of hoping for 1 goal from him as a Kane captainer I think.

Ye forget about them this week. At best they'll break even surely. Are you considering moving Kane before the DGW then getting him back?
