Scout Notes – Relentless Kane Rolls On

Harry Kane emphatically breaks more records and the hearts of those Fantasy managers who risked turning their back on his talents ahead of an impending blank.

The Spurs striker made it back-to-back hat-tricks from a blisteringly productive festive schedule so far. In doing so, he shattered Alan Shearer’s Premier League record for goals in a calendar year.

Those Fantasy managers who showed patience and held on to Kane will be overjoyed, but now have another difficult decision ahead of them.

They will face a dilemma with a second consecutive 17-point to sweeten the pill, but two hat-tricks in the space of three days cannot shift the fact that Kane now has a blank to come.

More than 131,000 managers had brought him in for the 5-2 win over Southampton regardless of that blank, with 1,161,712 making him the most-captained player of Gameweek 20.

They are now part of a 41.2% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership that must decide whether to stick or twist on the forward.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata is an obvious replacement for Gameweek 21, and he made his case with a first goal since Gameweek 15. To add to the Spaniard’s appeal, the Blues entertain Stoke City next and the Potters, already without Kurt Zouma, saw their skipper Ryan Shawcross limp off today.

But the downside of selling Kane involves cost – in both price and transfers expended.

His value is on the move. It rose to 12.9 ahead of Boxing Day and could increase again before Gameweek 21 with a number of managers either oblivious to, or simply not caring about, his blank.

Some 33,000 have already transferred him in for his non-existent Gameweek 21, so should his price rise again, those selling him could lose profit as well as the two transfers the transaction will cost – assuming, that is, that they bring Kane back for fixtures with Swansea City and West Ham. That is surely a given.

Ignoring Kane for that upcoming pair of attractive fixtures seems untenable. He will be the most-captained for Gameweek 22 and, those with the Triple Captain chip in hand will surely consider putting it in play on the back of Kane’s confidence and devastating form.

Spurs Midfield stake their claim

Kane isn’t the only member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad who warrants consideration ahead of the double-header.

Son Heung-min is building a convincing case.

The midfielder started his sixth straight match against Southampton and produced a goal, two assists and a bonus point for a second double-digit haul of that run.

In fact, Son has managed four goals and as many assists from those six matches and although he’s currently the fourth most bought player despite the blank Gameweek 21, he’s still only owned by 3.9%.

Previously far more popular, Dele Alli (11.5%) is also enjoying a min-revival.

He followed up his brace of assists at Burnley with two more, and a goal, against the Saints, with two bonus points pushing his Gameweek tally to a season’s best 15.

Son’s 8.0 price and his considerably more consistent recent form will ensure that the South Korean is favoured, with Alli reduced to an unlikely Gameweek 22 differential.

The same will probably apply to Christian Erisken. The Dane’s assist was dwarfed by other performances, but marked a fifth return in six Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, it remains difficult to justify investment in the Spurs defence.

Pochettino’s rotation policy concerning his wing-backs is now confusing everyone but him, with Serge Aurier (0.5%) handed a second straight start – and his third in four matches – as Kieran Trippier (5.8%) joined Ben Davies on the bench.

With the points potential of Spurs’ wing-backs now difficult to predict, the side’s lack of defensive stability – they’ve kept just two clean sheets since Gameweek 12 – further dampens the appeal of recruitment for the forthcoming double.

    Two questions for you all:

1- Will you be using 2 transfers over the next two gameweeks to ditch Kane during blank and then bring him back for the DGW?
2- Which Spurs/West Ham players will you have for the upcoming DGW?

I bought him two GWs before that so I'm happy, but you can't expect so much from a cheap West Ham-defender anyway so you shouldn't expect great returns. For me he is a great cheap enabler, no more than that.

Yup, but I can't find another transfer that makes sense (have 2FT):

        (2FT, 0.3 itb)

        Speroni
        Ota/Jones/Mee/Duffy

    Triple Capitancy for Kane:

Wow what a 4 days. I guess all the debate on Kanexit is gone for a while. Now I would like to debate on why Kane TC is a meaningful choice for GW22.

Form: Do I need to add something here? Not only 2 consecutive hattricks but also with 29 shots in last for GW he attemped 2 times more then any other forward except aguero.

Opponents: Swansea and West Ham are the teams that conceded most shot inside the box in last 4 GW with an average 12 and 11 per game respectively. We may not face a better dgw options that bad defensively.

Fixture: Playing 2 games in 48 hours is really though and facing some rotations is inevitable. However, thinking that TOT will rest for a full week then next PL game will be in 9 days. They can easily play against Wimbledon with 2nd field units. Hence I expect Kane will play around at least 140 - 150 minutes in 2 games.

Target: One of the most annoying thing for DGWSs after 34th week, the teams are generally have no target at all. They already guarantee some place or no hope to reach further more hence we face more rotation on DGWs 37. Here we are still in very competitive period for champions league place hence there won't be any complacency to play.

These are the points that direct me to play TC for Kane in DGW22.

    What are your opinions?

      Yes.

I think Lingard has convinced Jose he's united's best no.10 at the moment.

Similar to Sterling he will always be a slight rotation risk but the returns he's getting are no accident given his positioning and runs in to the box.

Pogba will get points, but Lingard is cheaper and plays more advance so it makes sense to change.

Part of the insentive to triple captain Kun last season was the fact many rivals didn't even plan to get him him...the opportunity was there to make a 60 odd point gain.

With Kane next week, the insensitive isn't the same...everyone will captain, so the absolute maximum gain you can hope to make is really only 20-30 points over non-TC'ers.

Free hit is interesting...I don't really want to peel the Liverpool assets (Salah Cout) or Hazard out of my squad at all, but with such a juicy pair of fixtures it would seem rude not to triple up in attack with 2 of Eriksen Alli and Son - incidentally all players I'd rather not be lumbered with longer term. Not to mention the wasted transfers bringing them in and taking them out.

I have also had a host of injuries spoiling my transfer plans over the past few weeks (all season really) and don't have the luxury of saving a FT for the double.

What are you doing? TC, FH or saving your chips?
How many Spurs and Hammers do you have now?
    How many will you have?
How many transfers (FT and hits) will it take to execute your plan?

I'll be tc'ing him no question.

Won't be a better chance this season for a better player all things considered.

Even if you think there's little to be gained, it also becomes a matter of not wanting to concede points given how popular this move will now become.

Unless there's any reliable news that he'll be rested, which is unlikely, then don't over think it.

If it seems the obvious thing to do, that's because it is.

Was Smalling to Klavan a decent move? Think I might've been a bit rash 🙁

So, I took a -8 hit yesterday. Got to mix up my team and get some differentials to my ML leader.

DGG, Moreno, Haz & Austin > Pickford, Holgate, Cout, Firmino -8. Saved enough cash so I can do Richarlison to Arnie next week.

    Is it a disaster?

Could be, if Cout is rested.

Moreno -> Holgate was an unnecessary -4.

Hazard will punish sellers next gw but I ain't mad.

I'll be praying he gets an unlikely rest. 😆

    Don't free hit.
Hammers assets rotate with Burnley so can keep.
Spurs assets have good fixtures so can keep.
Free hit for GW's that have no fixtures like league cup final.

    Salah C Sterling Coutinho Richarlison

Think 5 weeks not 2 weeks. Who do you want longer term?

For those of of us with few players left for today and tomorrow it's going to be a big red flag arriving. I can see Man City scoring at least 3 today.

      81 points with Sterling Otamendi.
Sterling might not play but so many have him anyway.
Kun and KDB my concerns. Also Arsenal players.

You're OK - you have the buffer of a good score already.

    a) Lingard + Alonso
    b) Arnie + 6.7 defender (who)

    Elliot (Pope)
    Mee Kenny jones Ota (Wimmer)
    Salah Sterling Richarlison RLC (Lanzini*)
    Kun Firmino (Kane*)

Thinking about Lanzini and Kane to Lingard and Morata and then Kun and Richarlison to Lanzini and Kane the following week. Got the cash to play with and think the -8 (ie -4 each week) should pay for itself over the 2 weeks. My main concern is whether my city and Liverpool players will get any minutes at all as all due a rest

Neither Christensen nor Rooney played yesterday. RLC should hopefully come on for one of those, though I have Dunk third on the bench behind Simpson who also didn't play. Will he come on, or will my 1 point remain on the bench because of Simpson?

        Dunk will come on.
