The ScoutCast quintet take on established Fantasy thinking in this latest episode, as we debate the quest to smash the current template squad.

What is the template? How can we break it? Should we even bother?

The discussion that unfolds is predictably sprawling and often heated, as once again the conflicting philosophies on Fantasy management in the ScoutCast crew are laid bare.

Elsewhere we let the rest of your community questions steer the conversation, as we contemplate Sanchez at United, battle Firmino vs Aguero and even find time to check in on Stoke.

Try as we might, even we struggle to argue about Stoke.

By the way, off the air we carried on the debate and, in the end, everyone agreed that I was right and that I also had the best beard.

    To fund Moarata to Aguero I need to downgrade Richarlison.

    I have 5.4m and am considering:

    1. Doucoure - Watford
    2. Choupo - Stoke (terrible form, but new manager and excellent fixtures. But Lambert is a defensive manahger)

    or possibly no playing bench fodder such as Milivojevic or Carroll to free up funds elsewhere?

        If I get Aguero I would already have 3 city players. Maybe an option if I punt for Firmino though. But will be a big gametime risk

        Have considered this. Just not having Aguero makes me nervous when he is likely to be getting lots of gametime.

        Not many sensible Richarlison upgrades for 7.9m, but it would save me a -4 and leave me funds for elsewhere

      If you are going to play 2 upfront then it doesn't matter for your 4-4-2 squad,
      but Doucoure is a more stable returner long-term as a bench fodder

      Oh how I loathe Doucoure. My ML rival has had him from the start and, for some unexplainable oddity in universe, he keeps scoring goals and bringing in the points.

      I would do it this week or latest next week. Three difficult fixtures for eriksen and mahrez has a great run of fixtures + form.

      Vardy hasn't scored twice in a game since the opening day. His lack of double digit scores made me go for Firmino.

      I think this is the week:
      1. Liverpool could be rampant
      2. Everton fixture is great!
      3. Next week something else might require a must move which could leave you to wait another week etc.

    Would you improve this defence for a hit? Can afford Stones/Maguire.

    If TAA and Shaw don't start, I have the two bench boys with poor fixtures though I have a feeling Chelsea might blank again.

    I'm desperately chasing points after 3 great weeks followed by a disaster last week.

    Thinking of (c) KDB instead of the safer Salah choice. Don't currently have Kane and staying firm in keeping him out until 4 gw's time when City go on a tough run and Spurs end their allowing easy KDB -> Kane switch.

    Good choice?

      I think you have to get Salah in. Will continue to hurt you otherwise. Look to make up ground with the other players. Otherwise, you will be chasing your tail. You could have a good week but lose 10-12 pts on not having Salah. KDB also a great pick. I have both.

    my last spot in my 11 is either mee, kabasele, RLC, DCL.

    Is it worth doing kabasele > Robertson/maguire for -4 or just start mee even though a CS is unlikely and kabasele out is a good long term idea?

      is looking good when ive seen him but on fpl form is only scoring 2.4 plus the fixtures are horrible in next 6, are they bench fodder? albrighton and ibe better at 5.5 and 4.8 if not reliant on them week in week out and fixtures better for season

    is there a site or table to get previous total points for players previous FPL or at least last year?

    1st of all wanted to look at how defenders fair to attackers in terms of points as a group , this year is a lack of Fwds kane , am thinking going Kane and 1 cheapy bench fodder ( Quaner) and currently Wilson to play or rotate

    Lots of defenders close or beating some premium attackers and better value than many cheapies , unless one explodes but are often short lived

      Alonso is well worth the money imo

      But also note that RLC will be out for a bit so you'll be keeping your bench very lean
