Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Chelsea

Gameweek 24 begins by the seaside as Brighton host champions Chelsea at the Amex Stadium.

Despite notable absentees for Chelsea, there is keen interest from a Fantasy perspective.

The Blues defence is heavily backed and, with five clean sheets from their last six Gameweeks, we should perhaps expect further returns against a goal-shy Seagulls.

However, with Thibaut Courtois missing through injury, there is disruption in the Chelsea rearguard, which could mean that owners of Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen may well be forced to seek attacking returns.

That’s not out of the question given that Antonio Conte’s side rank second for attempts from corner kicks, while Brighton have conceded more goals from dead-balls than any other side, including 12 from corners.

Elsewhere, the inclusion of Michy Batshuayi in Conte’s line-up suggests that Hazard will be sparred a false nine role, with Chelsea perhaps lining up in a 3-4-2-1.

Brighton’s formation is also significant, as Chris Hughton mirrors Chelsea’s three-man defence by handing a start to Connor Goldson alongside Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy. That’s a situation to monitor given his price tag of just 3.9.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hazard has to be one of the most annoying players ever in FPL history

Kane and Hazard very similar IMO. Both going to score loads of points, but good luck predicting when they will haul. Hazard is behind because he basically was out for the first 6 GWs of the season. Everyone forgets that.

It's so hard to be patient with a player that is priced as highly as Hazard that you can't rely on as a captain, far too inconsistent. I feel far safer sticking the arm band on Kane.

It’s easier with Kane, you just buy and captain him, he’ll bring you hauls and easy points. Hazard will have a long blank period and then compensate for it in a short sequence of big hauls.
He’s a player I rather not let near my team.

Paying 5.6m for a Chelsea defender doesn’t mean it makes him more injury prone or ill etc. He would have played if he wasn’t ill.

All this talk of half clean sheet points and all that...partial assists would be much better. Willian gets the same points for a two-yard sideways pass to Hazard before a slalom run up the pitch and exquisite finish, as someone would for a pinpoint cross onto a striker's head or a defence-splitting through ball...

I agree in a sense Bubz; there's already way too much grey area for assists as it is (that joke KDB one a few weeks ago comes to mind).

Would just be interesting if assists could be categorised, between Actual Assists and Pogba Assists :p

Seeing a short nothing pass that was never intended to be an assist result in a 40 yard thunderbolt is just one of my pet hates in FF even though of course it is inherently an assist.
