Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Newcastle

Saturday ends at the Etihad Stadium where Manchester City bid to recover from their defeat at Anfield with three points over Newcastle United.

In Fantasy terms we have three of the top seven captain picks on show in the City attack.

Sergio Aguero leads the way with 581,000+ (10.3%) backers who will hope that he can deliver on an incredible record against the Magpies.

The Argentinian averages a goal or assist every 31 minutes against Newcastle in home matches, though he has just a single goal in his last four Gameweeks.

Kevin De Bruyne sports 178,000 armbands (3.1%) as he goes into the game with three assists in his last five; his last goal came back in Gameweek 18.

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling – who was surprisingly sold by 108,000 ahead of Gameweek 24 – has the support of 152,000 managers as he bids to add to his tally of nine goals on home turf.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Held off wildcarding to keep Spurs players for tomorrow, and to have a break between GW's to assess properly. Everyone I was gonna bring in flying 🙁

    An argument in favor of hits:
    I did Lingard -> Mahrez for a hit before the deadline and I only won 1 point, seems sideways, right?
    However, now I already own Mahrez and can focus somewhere else, so the win is actually not just what you get/don’t get the week of the hit, you give yourself an extra transfer, if the player you got is trustworthy even if he blanks one GW.

    In order to do Lingard to Mahrez I need to take a hit and downgrade someone...

    A) Kane ----> Kun
    B) Albrighton ----> Milivojevic
    C) Ota ----> Jones
    D) Pickford ----> 4.8 or less GK
    E) Alonso ----> Az
    F) Ota ----> Maguire

    Which one?

    Posted on the wrong thread.... classic...

    If your team is a mess and you could feasibly take a -8 and still not have it fully sorted out, then just wildcard

    The main argument against wildcarding now seems to be that you need to keep the wildcard for a double gameweek. But even if you play your wildcard now, it's very easy to build up to, let's say, 9 players with a DGW fixture later this season. That's partly because you have ages to prepare to get there and partly because a FH makes that easier this year (when avoiding the blanks).

    But the core factor is that, when you're a week or two before the DGW,assuming you pick players with a good chance of playing both games, each hit effectively only costs you -2 over single gameweekers. Simple as that.

    So while a -8 can get you 2 transfers now, it can effectively get you 4 transfers before the DGW while others are using their wildcard.

    TLDR: by using your wildcard right before the DGW, you're missing the only time of the season (apart from blanks) where hits are 50% off if you spend wisely.

        Ok keeping it simple.

        Hit now costs 4 pts

        Hit during GW costs 2 pts if you're going from a SGW player to a DGW player (conditional on no bookings etc.)
