The Knee Jerk

The Knee Jerk – Everybody Hurts

It didn’t take long. As the template squad took shape over the international break, it has taken just one day of Gameweek 4 for it to show cracks.

The script seemed very unlikely. Robin Van Persie rested. Carlos Tevez withdrawn on the hour mark. Eden Hazard and Michu traveling home empty-handed. Santi Cazorla delivering just a single assist amongst an Emirates goal glut. Form was on their side but today’s failure of fancied “big guns” offered a rapid reminder just how fickle Fantasy fortunes can be.

To compound matters, some notable differentials stepped up. Dimitar Berbatov delivered on his full debut. Steven Fletcher scored his third goal in two games. Gervinho tempted us with a brace as the Gunners ran riot and, in the same match, Lukas Podolski notched his second in consecutive matches. We just need the likes of Gareth Bale and Nikaca Jelavic to break the shackles and we’ll have real movement; real discontent amongst the pack who threw Wildcards at the two-week break only to find the humblest of returns at the end of the rainbow.

It was inevitable that the cast would be extended, that we’d have new names to add to our watchlists and edge their way into our thinking. The failure for the early season form players will doubtless spark reaction – the pace of Berbatov’s bandwagon will be interesting and likely to be fuelled by those looking for an immediate fix to a hugely disappointing day.

Of course there should be faith that class will win through, that today’s events will be a rarity, but the timing is poor. Having procrastinated and tinkered over the break, the expectations were high and that will doubtless find knees jerking and cats kicked. For the majority, it’s been a day to forget but then perhaps we got what we deserved.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Thinking of freeing up funds for Baines, whats the best option

    A. Zabaleta & Cuellar > Baines & Demel
    B. Hart & Zabaleta > Vorm/Reina & Baines
    C. Zabeleta & Tevez > Baines & Ade/Poldolski

      A or B.

      Leaning to A as Cuellar might be injured and absent.

      A for sure. Zab is a rotation risk and cuellar may b injured. Demel is the cheapest defender who is scoring well

    De gea to janks or foster. This would be a long term switch.

    Friedel
    Cole Rangel Cuellar
    Hazard(C) Toure McClean, Maloney(VC)
    Pog Tevez RVP
    Subs: Federichi, Noble, Hangeland, Zabaleta

    2 free transfers, any ideas? 1.6M in the bank. My thoughts so far are:
    1) Zab->Demel/Clark and Pog->Berba/Ba/Fletcher
    2) Zab->Demel/Clark and Noble->Michu
    3) Zab-> Baines and Fed->Jussi

      Rotation for sure. They are both starters in their own right but unfortunately are in the same team.

        It's a tricky one. Think I'm happy with Fed covering DDG for now, and there's no guarantee that Berba will get 4 more points than Graham next week. I think Swansea will bounce back against Everton, putting Baines at risk.

        Arghhhh!!!!

          I am getting Berba purely for the team value and aye u cant depend on Federici for points..and DDg's value will drop down

      Do both before they drop in price and your targets go up. They are huge rotation risks right now and no point in keeping such expensive players around.

    I've swapped in Jaskelainen for Frederici ahead of the price rise, which is I think the sane transfer, shedding a Reading liability and buying into the Hammers defensive action.

    However I still have a FT and am thinking I need to get in on the Berbatov action. Thing is that I'm going to need to sell elsewhere (and thus shed another 4pts) to raise some cash.

    Hence, I was thinking of shipping out Vermaelen and my back up striker Pog for Ridgewell and Berbatov, with the added benefit of getting on the West Brom bandwagon. I'd prefer to shed Lescott but since his price fail that doesn't work out.

    Thing is I'd been working on a route to recruit Baines this game week rather than Berba, am I kneejerking too badly?
