The Numbers Game – Attacking Full-Backs

With clean sheets so scarce again this season, Fantasy managers have been largely forced to look to their defenders for attacking returns. With budget options also proving popular acquisitions, there is a drive to identify those defenders who can perhaps offer supplementary points to add to those rare occasions when they can keep their opponents at bay.

Thankfully, the role of the modern-day full-back in the Premier League also appears to have changed, with the emphasis now on joining the attack and helping provide a stream of opportunities for others.

In this latest article for our members, we cast an eye over those full-backs who have recently impressed in this area, assessing those most likely to deliver those occasional assists that can make all the difference to our Gameweek totals.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Who do I remove, Davies, Clyne or Shorey, or do I keep all 3 and my Free Transfer and be forced to play a dodgy 4-3-3 this week?

Those 3 are not bad to hold onto for their value and nailed on'ness aswell as attacking returns. I woudl go with the dodgy 4-3-3 and have more room to manouvre next week.

How come people are talking about Sagna more than Mertesacker who seems more nailed on right? - I'm looking at bringing one in myself, not much difference in price, really can't decide?

        +42

People say he is a rotation risk with Vermaelen pushing out to LB to accommodate Koscielny but that is the less likely than Jenkinson threatening Sagna's position or Koscielny threatening Merte's.

Rooney + Obrien in for Cuellar and Ba leaves me with this (Dont mind 2 westham defenders)
    Federici (Mignolet)
    Cameron Shorey Demel OBrien (Clyne)
    Cazorla Fellaini Sterling (Mata Puncheon)
    Rvp Rooney Suarez

    0.0 in bank

Strong enough or too risky? should i just to Puncheon to Michu instead? (No closer to my decision and i'm off in 30)

Good point. I want coverage vs Reading this week and next. If I get Cazorla for Walcott then cannot afford to get Silva in next week for Sess unless I tak Caz straight out again.

Caz in and out in 2 GW seems a waste.

I also want Mata next week lol!

If Walcott would only play I could save a transfer and just get Silva for Sess next week as have 4.8 in bank.

Nope, not that fan of Yaya as a fpl prospect, but he does have good fixtures.

AJ->Fellaini, but I certainily don't like his fixture this week.

i love how everyone is referring to the "bib theory" as if people are expected to know it and that it's common knowledge, like the most widely used term in football. 😆

Bib theory has been around since time immemorial. In fact, the Bible was originally named 'Le Bib' as it was meant to be someone's theory on Jesus and his wearing of the green bib of God.

basically in training, sterling was wearing a different coloured bib to the other starting players. so the "bib theory" is that because of this, he will likely not start this week.

Oh thanks. I think people are reading too much into it. There are always at least two different colour kinds of bibs on the training ground, no?

So Rooney and RVP? Anyone going that way? I have the money and was almost certain to do it. But with Sterling and Enrique not starting and Rooney possibly a flu, I am not so confident now, I think I will do a defensive transfer instead. Anyone doing it, or anyone having wise thoughts on that?

    Thanks

I really don't recommend that route....Just pick one and be content.

Doubling up on defence is ok but when it comes to mid or attack, I don't recommend it.

Tempted by Roo but would be taking out Berbs so a no.

Am either doing a safe transfer Johnson in for Gorkss or getting replacement Arsenal cover for Walcott.

I was just about to do

      Bale - Sterling
      Berba - Rooney

Then I read on here that Rooney might have flu and sterling might not start! If I do the transfers tonight then I have 0.2 spare.

      Bib theory:

When during a training sessions the first team players (wearing orange bibs play against the reserves/2nd string (wearing green bibs) it may be possible to speculate on the starting XI team the manager will pick for the weekend game.

      http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/Search/Search.aspx?EventId=158457630&EditorialProduct=Sport#

In this case the following photos suggest that Sterling (in a green bib for a change) will not be in the staring XI this week (has nothing to do with form or injury, but merely linking it with earlier comments from Rodgers about him needing a rest at some point)

      http://www.independent.ie/sport/sterling-would-be-very-foolish-not-to-sign-contract-with-liverpool-says-brendan-rodgers-as-man-city-and-chelsea-hover-3311036.html

Put these 2 factors together and one may infer that this is the week that he decides to rest young Raheem.

Please note that none of this might actually play out this way and waiting for the (hopefully early) Demi lineup tomorrow is advisable

    Begovic (Tremmel)
    Baines Enrique Shorey Cuellar
    Fellaini Michu Sterling
    RVP (c) Suarez Berb

Subs: McCartney (doubtful) Puncheon Mata (no game)

    2.9 in the bank.

Seems risky with possibly no subs and doubts around Enrique and Sterling and Cuellar at United, but have no idea what to do. Seems silly leaving 2.9 in the bank with all those doubts though. Any ideas?
