The Numbers Game – Festive Form – Midfielders

Continuing our members articles which examine the numbers behind the previous four Gameweeks, we now switch our attention to the midfield area. With a packed festive programme providing hat-tricks for Santi Cazorla, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, it was a period which again saw the heavy-hitting midfielder come to the fore. Incredibly, however, that trio were surpassed by the performances of a player who has rolled back the years to recapture a level of returns and consistency that we perhaps thought were behind him.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Everybody. If no news by Saturday I`m just gonna risk it. Though I imagine we may get some kinda clue or hint from Rafa in his Friday press conference.

My prediction is he'll still be in goal for the Arsenal game, but no more - you'll have to burn a transfer to get him out anyway so you have to weigh up whether that is worth the DGW - of which there is still a risk he won't play both games (I think he will, but there's still a risk).

Rate these from top to bottom. Not current form obviously. Speaking of their prime.

I just think, how many times did he almost single handedly rescue Liverpool? And in the big games too. He was very very good. But, with Pirlo & Nedved I didn't have the pleasure of watching them week in week out years ago, so maybe it's a bit harsh on them.

And I still think Zidane is the best player I've ever seen.

    A) GW22- Shawcross > Luiz

    GW23- Luiz > Gibbs

    B) GW22- Zabaleta > Luiz (Play Shawcross at home to Chelsea

    GW23 - Shawcross > Gibbs

    C) GW22 - Shawcross > Luiz (play Zabaleta away to Arsenal)

    GW23 - Zabaleta > Gibbs

    Leaning towards A.

The main problem is Clyne isn't 100% going to start, heard he's injured.

I think you're right, I'm better off doing the defensive upgrade (especially as Minge, my other keeper has WHU - seems a waste to have him on the bench).

If he's fit that is. I don't see him as a rotation threat. It only happened once at Xmas which is normal.

Morning all, any comments on this draft WC?:

    Bego / Turnbull
    Baines / Gibbs / Davies / Demel / Wilson
    Fellaini / Mata / Walcott / Michu / Bale
    RVP / Ba / Ruiz

Planning Ba -> Podolski next week

looks a great team. Love the MF

Not sure Ruiz will end up with as points as Berba personally, but you clearly need the cash.

Good plan. Think I'll change Turnbull -> Bunn so maybe a reading defender might be a thought. They seem to have tightened up at the back, maybe Mariappa.

barring the obvious lack of Suarez, that is an excellent team.

    Turnbull (Szczesny)
    Demel Harte Gibbs (Jones) (Davies)
    Mata(c) Bale Michu Fellaini (Noble)
    RVP BA Berbatov

    0.3m in bank. Mata + Ba > Arteta + Suarez GW 23 – (4 Hit)
