Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Siesta

When the team sheets arrived for City’s home clash against Palace on Saturday afternoon, a certain little Spaniard’s Fantasy owners were full of optimism for the 90 minutes ahead. By the final whistle, though, those same folk were left cursing their misfortune as David Silva handed them the most unwanted of Christmas cards – a fifth caution of the season which rules him out of Wednesday’s trip to Swansea.

Silva not only seems to have stepped up in consistency under Manuel Pellegrini (a goal or assist in eight of 11 appearances), he has also developed a penchant for picking up yellows. Over his previous three seasons with the Etihad club, the playmaker had received a total of four bookings in the league – he’s managed to mirror that already this term and with a caution accrued in the Capital One Cup, he’ll be tucking into his New Year’s Day dinner while Pellegrini’s side make their way to the Liberty.

Also sidelined through suspension are a couple of defenders – Villa’s Ciaran Clark and Chelsea’s David Luiz. Clark will miss a crucial trip to Sunderland, whilst Luiz, in just his eighth league start, picked up a fifth caution of the season in yesterday’s home win over Liverpool and will sit out the trip to Southampton.

The trio joined Sunderland’s Wes Brown on the banned list – the Black Cats centre-half serves the last of a three-match ban and will be available for the FA Cup clash against Carlisle at the weekend.

After Wednesday, the Tightrope extends to 10 bookings, with the new deadline Sunday April 13 (Gameweek 34). A special mention goes to Newcastle’s right-back Mathieu Debuchy – with seven cautions to his name, the Frenchman is just three yellows away from suspension already.

Bit harsh! Look at Fulham's next few fixtures.

Almost everyone has a similiar attack to me (maybe Rooney over Negredo).

Ok, maybe a bit harsh 🙂 Still, wouldn't trust Fulhams defence no matter who they are playing. Flanagan is still injuried, or no?

Mid is exact what I have. Pretty good, but could have been better if you had cheap Forw (I prefer 3 strong Forw)

Attack: Not stron enough imo. I have Roo, Suarez, Negredo, where Negredo is my short term punt. I dont consider him a kepper at all (way to expensive for I expect him to produce). Lukaku is a decent option, trouble is you will never be comfortable captaining him as he is very on and off.

I would upgrade defence, and then either downgrade Negredo to Remy and upgrade midfield, or upgrade Negredo to Rooney.

            That makes sense 😉

I'll use the January WC to do that and take advantage of new signings in the next few weeks.

I had one of those ex Mutd Sunderland defenders at the start of the season, O'shea who promptly got himself sent off. I noticed Brown came back and quickly followed suit. So when I took out that Williams and pressed auto complete, and it said Bardsley when I wanted it to say Koscielny, I thought there's your hat trick, right there. Time these Sunderland defenders stopped diving in, they're not playing at the old troff anymore.

About as good as you can. The armband could be a topic of debate, but that's always the case. Like the Highlander, there can only be one!

With Gibbs only ~ 75% starting, how likely is it that Jenkinson will start tomorrow? Vermalen might play instead of Gibbs, but I figure Jenk should have a fair chance as well (have had him in my team for like 10weeks not being able to get rid of him so hoping now he will finally start a game 🙂 )

Wenger says training today will be more "medical check". Ramsey, ozil, giroud, gibbs out. Walcott, rosicky, monreal, vermaelen all doubts.

This have to improve Jenkisnon's chances?

What do you Gunners fans think?
