Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Quarter Final Draw

The Fantasy Football Scout Cup, as sponsored by Paddy Power, is now down to the final eight managers after resuming action last weekend. All eight of our remaining quarter-finalists sit inside the top 70,000 in the overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings, though one of our managers will enter the next round as firm favourite:

Cunny Funts is the man in question – a total score of 1,373 so far earns him a ranking of 1,462 in FPL. He’s up against Yes the Sess!, who is the lowest-ranked manager still in with a shout of the silverware – currently nestled just inside the top 62,000, he’s very much the underdog in this tie, having scraped through with a 58-point haul in Gameweek 21.

Sim716 (61,243 overall) squares up to Tdubb05 (45,088) for a place in the semi-finals. The former eliminated our moderator, Applebonkers, last time around, whilst the latter will fancy his chances, having knocked out previous favourite Tony Hibbert’s Love Child.

Tal goes head-to-head with 11 Men in Flight this time around. This quarter-final is the most evenly matched on paper, with respective rankings of 45,190 and 32,963. Whilst Tal has already played the winter wildcard, his opponent’s is currently active ahead of the weekend deadline.

Our final match-up sees ec3dm take on Ajax. The latter has activated the wildcard button and, with an overall ranking of 27,664 to his opponent’s 56,637, is the more fancied to progress.

As always, we wish final eight the best of luck as they brace themselves for battle!

Annoyingly 0.1 short on the team I want if I decide to pull the WC trigger tonight. Could have avoided it had I not dithered. So, is Pozuelo in any way "nailed on" for the next few games.

    Boruc Davis
    Coleman Sagna Kolarov Chester Parr
    Hazard Ozil Navas Cabaye ?
    Aguero Suarez Sturridge

Any suggestions where to squeeze out another couple of pennies?

Kola to Nasty? Quite a downgrade.
Sagna to Gibbs? Decent, if Gibbs stays fit.

Thanks both - is Gibbs fit?

As for Sturridge he looked so sharp against Stoke and I missed out big time at season start by delaying on buying him.

Another version contains Bony instead of Sturridge which pretty much means I can buy anyone I want

Silva has been a bad investment so far this year. For 9.3 mill:

Silva is only the 46th highest scoring player so far this year.
Less than Navas, sidwell, begovic, Fonte etc.

Silva has been out for 9 matches so far this season

Played 90 mins only 6 matches.

That's an absurd way to evaluate his potential IMO. You don't own him when he's injured. Look at his points per game.

Well, just scares me a bit to transfer him in on WC when he's fit again.

Point per minute he's one of the highest scorers in the game (and above Yaya). He's had a bad run with injuries and a silly suspension, but when he's on the park he's well worth the money.

I have Lallana and Cabaye. All 3 are good options in my opinion, Lallana is currently in the best form though. The situation at Southampton is what worries me but I doubt it should affect the players much

Random noob question: if someone is on 120% at Total FPL for a price rise and they rise, do they keep the 20% toward their next price rise or does everything just reset to 0 again?

I feel sorry for all my English, Welsh & Irish compatriots, as they don't have a club like Rangers to laugh at. 😉

They must be one of the few clubs in world who actually spend more on non-playing staff [i.e. director's lining their pockets], than they do on playing staff. How can a club who were in the bottom tier of Scottish football spend 33M a year but only take in 19M.

They are going to be lucky to see out this season without going back in to administration, all this despite just selling 22M in shares, which they have spunked against the wall.

I've finally managed to find a way to fit Rooney. Suarez and Aguero into my team.. with Terry the one I had to axe. (In case anyone cares, this is the final result - http://i.imgur.com/lbXz4ct.png)

Now, my final issue.. with Rooney is not playing this weekend, I can currently sell him at 11.1 (and he's priced at 11.4)

Do you think that he will drop a whole 0.3 from today till GW 23 ? That would justify my temporarily removing him from my team just for this weekend, before getting him back again the following GW.

    Thoughts ?
