FFS Paddy Power Cup IX and Members Cup IV – Eighth Round Draws

We roll out the draw for the Eighth Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, this afternoon, with the finishing line almost in sight:

In the former competition, we’re now down to the last eight competitors. One of the remaining ties see two of the top 10,000 FPL managers, Rozzop and Gribude, go head-to-head, with the former, who sits in 2,727th spot, the highest-ranked manager remaining.

Attila the Bum squares up to rank outsider xildor (sitting in 36,111th position spot) in fine form, with the former serving up 95 points in the previous Gameweek.

The other two ties see manehi and Woeisme and caio89 and 1nozza battle it out for a place in the final four, with the latter’s 74 point-haul in Gameweek 35 the lowest tally of any of our last eight.

A full list of last week’s results is here, and the draw for the Eighth Round, which kicks off this Saturday lunchtime at St Mary’s and lasts right through to Monday evening, when Arsenal welcome out-of-sorts Newcastle to the Emirates, can be found here.

In the FFS Members Cup IV, we’re now down to the last four managers. Spencer – the highest ranked remaining manager in 554th spot overall – takes on Sandgrounder, who was late week’s top-scoring manager with 80 points, for a place in the final. The other semi-final sees old-school poster Shipsontrev take on Trigg – despite the difference in their ranks (689 v 99,744) this looks a close one, given that the pair progressed with 75 points and 74 points respectively last weekend.

You can click here to check out the Eighth Round draw, which gets underway this weekend, whilst the full list of Seventh Round results can be found here.

As always, good luck to all those still in with a shout of the silverware.

Would you be happy with this for this gw??

    Mannone (CARDIFF)

Shaw (EVERTON) /// Coleman (southampton) /// Demichelis (palace)

AJ (CARDIFF) /// Ramsey (NEWC) /// Gerrard (CHE) /// Eriksen (stoke)

Suarez (CHE) /// Aguero (palace) /// Lukaku (southamton)

SUBS: MARSHALL / AZPI / WARD / GNABRY

Should i do a -4 to bring in an Arsenal defender/forward?

      A stronger defence than most.

      Pretty template midfield.

Very vunerable if Man Utd score goals. That would be my main concern.

The template has been working for some time, have held onto AJ for fixtures like this... Not many others have him around here. He's gonna do soemthing big this GW I think.

        Not worried by Man U.

If you're not worried by Man Utd then fine but its risky as loads will captain Rooney.

I've got the same front 7 but with Lallana instead of Gerrard. I'll also be getting Rooney in for Lukaku for a -4.

Rooney 3 home games next 2 GW vs Lukaku 2 games, 1 being against Man City.

Is dumping Eriksen wise for the greater good?

    GW36: Eriksen > Ramsey
GW37: Lukaku > Rooney, Coleman > 5.1m (Smalling, Evans, Flanagan)

    Giving me:

    Mannone (Marshall)
    Zabaleta Azpilicueta Chester (5.1m Ward)
    Mata Nasri Ramsey Sterling (Adam)
    Suarez Rooney Aguero

    Thanks

I was toying with the same thing considering the two away games. I've got bigger fish to fry though. Definitely wouldn't have him top of the watchlist although the watchlist selections have been pretty poor for some time now.

Just looking back at Southampton's results this season...Pochetino has had a lot of praise, and they've got some eye catching players, but how many truly impressive results have they pulled off? Not many, to my mind. And they spent big too. They've been overrated for my money.

Played some good stuff, but check out the actual results. Drew at home to Sunderland and West ham early on, lost at Norwich. GW5-7 was their longest winning run all year, then they didn't win more than one in a row until 29 and 30.

It's all about their style of play and the amount of academy players they've played. I can understand what you're saying but they've done brilliantly in my eyes seeing as they were in league 1 not too long ago! Norwich, Cardiff etc also spent big....

Yeah maybe I phrased it wrong. Where they are is amazing considering where they were, and didn't intend to take anything from the CLUB. It was more questioning Pochetino as the Hipster's Favourite.

Next season will show whether he is really as good as a lot of people think. And who knows, maybe he is...

Such revisionist tosh. If he's overrated why were people mad that Adkins was sacked? He's improved the team loads. He's spent money, yes but only comparable to those around him. He may not have got many impressive results but winning the majority of matches you are expected to win is hardly easy.

I'm not saying he's necessarily a bad coach, far from it. I just see a lot of people hyping him up, talking about him as a candidate for Spurs etc, and I just think the jury is still out.

And all the academy players! A club with a great philosophy in my view. Already produced Bale, Walcott and Ox, then add Shaw, Lallana, Chambers etc to that mix and they really deserve some credit! I love how they trust and play their youngsters rather than loan them out and have them play a completely different brand of football

My team took a bit of a battering at the weekend. Currently have this:

    Mannone
    Baines, Kolarov, Ivanovic
    Mirallas*, Silva*, Mata, Sterling
    Suarez, Aguero, Lukaku

    3.9m, Azpi, Olsson, Noone*

1 FT but with the injuries and DGWs next week with swings in the fixtures this week for Utd and Sunderland I have to spend some points.

Silva and Mirallas must go, I think for Nasri and Ramsey
On top of this I have double Chelsea defence, think I sell Ivan for Alonso, which in turn finances Lukaku to Rooney

So this would be -12 and sets me up for the doubles. I could just do the 2 midfield transfers for -4 but would prefer Rooney to Lukaku.

    Thoughts would be appreciated

At the weekend Ivanovic will probably get 1 point and rabies from Suarez, Alonso has 3 good homes games and finances Rooney who should outscore Lukaku with the extra game. I think the extra -8 can pay off.

its where rooney will play that is the issue for me. I think welbeck will go up front the stories from the weekend.

also norwich looked good for large periods vs liverpool. not sure it will be the walkover people are expecting

I'd be tempted to get Welbeck and save on the defender transfer but with Rooney he's pretty much guaranteed to start and has pens and some set pieces with RVP out. Even if he's playing deeper there are several ways he can score points.

I'm not confident in Welbeck starting every game. As a Utd fan, do you think he will?

Just mulling over line up and currently going with this -

    Mannone (Adrian)
    Baines shaw kosc (Coleman ward)
    Eriksen mata nasri Johnson (mutch)
    Rooney (c) Suarez aguero

4 pt hit taken and ml rival (31 behind) has gone minus 8.

Don't like not owning Ramsey and think rival will have got rid of silva, mirallas and Sturridge to Ramsey plus maybe Rooney and mata/eriksen but thinking Davies (hull) in next week for Coleman for DGW.

Any thoughts appreciated as I can almost feel the cash coming my way
