Premiership News
Newsnow - Premiership Football
The Newsnow hub scans the web for the latest news and the feed can be filtered by an array of subjects. This link will take you to the newsnow feed for Premiership football news.
My Football News
Another decent news feed site that enables you to filter the latest news by club or by player.
BBC - Premiership Football
The all-conquering BBC website has a fairly decent Premiership news section and live commentary on matchday.
Tribal Football
Another top notch source of news - check the newswire for easy bitesize pieces of the latest.
Sky Sports
There’s little sign of Stelling and unbelievably the Kamara factor is low, but Sky Sports’ football news centre still offers up to the minute information on Premiership clubs - often beating other sites to the scoops with transfer and team news.
TeamTalk
Almost tabloid like in its pursuit of exclusive stories and transfer speculation - Teamtalk is well worth a regular visit.
Soccernet
I still have trouble getting past the ESPN aspect of this monster site. However until I see Cech referred to as a goal tender, I’ve little choice but to recognise this as a top quality news site. it’s livematchday coverage is pretty good too.
Football 365
Another exceptionally good news site with excellent Premiership coverage and a sprinkling of amusing features and columns. Once you’ve had a chuckle you can get down to some serious business with their statistical tables, analysing each clubs attacking and defensive records, pretty invaluable to Fantasy Football Managers, although I’d recomend having some porn open in a window in case your other half catches you analysing the number of times Aston Villa have won after conceding in the first 45 mintutes. Highly embarrassing.
Sporting Life
This site might not win any prizes for its looks but it’s a workhorse that gets the job done.
PremierLeague.com
The official Premier League site is home to an excellent Fantasy Football game and also carries some decent news coverage. The site also carries some Actim stats (the official statistics data for the Premier League) and the Team of the Season and Team of the Week are always worth a look as a form guide.
Football.co.uk
A bit of a dark horse this one. I’m not quite sure who is behind it but as a news source it’s pretty, pretty…pretty good.
Daily Mail Football
Predictably dry but nonetheless comprehensive and well-written Premierhsip coverage from the paper that’s yet to find evidence that football is eating away at our moral values or killing our children. Yet.
The Sun - Football
Whatever you think of the paper as a whole the football coverage is possibly second to none amongst the tabloids and their site reflects that with pages full of “exclusive” transfer tales, “explosive” stories and a few roastings thrown in once or twice a year for good measure. Plus there’s likely to be some pics of WAGS just a few clicks away.
Daily Mirror - Football
More tabloid football news - not quite as “explosive” as The Sun.
The Guardian - Football
Not a sparkling news site but the Guardian does often carry some decent fetures and comment articles.
The Times - Football
Pretty uninspiring to look at and certainly not the first stop for up to the minute news but the reports and articles are well-written and insightful.
ITV - Premiership News
Run-of-the-mill football news from the former home of the “Premiership”.
FootballTransfers.co.uk
A site dedicated to the transfer merry-go-round. Needs a spring clean and a regular update but can be worth a look.
EPL Talk
An online magazine site, dedicated to the English Premier League. Amongst the collection of unique content you’ll find a regular podcast, a downloadable magazine and a daily news blog.
Caught Offside
A regularly updated and humorous blog based on the wonderful world of Premiership football. Now includes their own Fantasy Game set up with the Fantasy League boys.
Fantasy Football Resources
FISO
FISO stands for Fantasy and Interactive Sports Online and is a site that was launched back in 2000 - it’s since become a focal point of the fantasy sports community. It’s forums include individual boards for each of the Fantasy Football games where you can benefit from the wisdom of the growing community. Registration is just about compulsory if you’re playing Fantasy Football.
Footballweb.co.uk
Home of another Fantasy Football forum. Whilst not anywhere near as busy as FISO’s forum, it is a little less intimidating for new Fantasy Football managers.
The Fantasy Football Forum
Launched near the end of the 2006 season, this forum is newcomer to the scene but another welcome resource for those looking to discuss Fantasy Football issues, team news, injuries etc. The forum hosts a friendly community and the site owner runs a series of leagues in the various big Fantasy games that you can join up to.
Physioroom - Injury Table
Injury experts The Physioroom provide a decent list of Premiership players currently injured together with an expected return date although they do tend to be slightly pessimistic with their return dates.
Peak Football
A brand new site that specialises in the reporting of football injuries - very handy for us Fantasy Managers. Peak Football offers a new, informed perspective on the current injury list. The site also includes a “Treatment Room” section which outlines all the existing Premiership injuries with details and a prognosis.
Newsnow - Injuries and Suspensions
The supremely useful Newsnow news hub has a feed that features articles on the latest injuries and suspensions. You can even search this particular feed for an individual player name or club to find articles on a specific subject. *Update - currently disabled but I’m keeping the link just in case.*
Premiership Latest - Injuries and Suspensions
Premiership Latest might not be the prettiest site in the world but it does a great job of rounding up the latest news threads on all the Premiership injuries and suspensions. Very handy in the absence of the Newsnow filter.
The FA - Suspended Players
The FA website has a up to date list of all the players currently suspended for all Premiership clubs. They also have a table listing those players awaiting suspension here so don’t be caught out by missing that. There’s also a page here listing the recent disciplinary hearings
The Fantasy League - Injuries and Suspensions
The orginal Fantasy League also provides a regularly updated table of suspensions and injuries that proves pretty reliable.
The Fantasy League - Team News
An excellent team news bulletin from the Fantasy League.
Fantasy Pink
Another great resource provided by the orginal Fantasy League site. A quality Fantasy Football fanzine that includes a Fantasy Focus news update.
Yahoo Fantasy Football Blog
Yahoo’s blog is regularly updated and publishes regular team and injury news that offers some decent insight to help with weekly subs and transfers.
Dream Team Selector
The homepage of a very useful tool to help you select your Sun Dream Team. Sadly it won’t get you access to the Dream Team site when it goes down under the transfer window traffic, but then, you can’t have everything.
Bramernic’s Fantasy Sports
Home of an incedible stats database for the Telegraph Fantasy Football game. The site plots the points scored for every player on a weekly basis and gives you access, allowing you to sort various tables and plot your transfers and team changes. Great stuff.
Player and Club Statistics
Football 365 Premiership Stats Index
An user friendly index that allows some decent analysis of the Premiership. Particulary useful for identifying form and defensive records.
SoccerStats.com
A site dedicated to “soccer” stats. Pretty decent - the scoring and conceding analysis tables are particularly useful.
Football Anorak
Not the easiest site to navigate and the stats here are more liikely to help your betting than your Fantasy Football, however there are some nice stats - those lovely “how many games have X won when X plays” for example, are easily found here.
Soccerbase
An excellent site for checking on a player’s playing history if nothing else.
Fantasy Football Games
Fantasy League
The original Fantasy Football experience and still the best if you can gather a bunch of likeminded mates with 30 quid to spare. [Review]
Fantasy Premier League
The Fantasy Football game of the official Premier League site is free and one of the best online games you can play. [Review]
Premier Fantasy Manager
Powered by the Silent Manager Fantasy Sports group, this is a relatively new game to the scene. It’s got its quirks and drawbacks but it’s free (kind of) and certainly not the worst game you can play. [Review]
Mail Online Fantasy League
The Daily Mail game is “powered” by the original Fantasy League and, as a result, it’s one of the best around, and it’s free. [Review]
Times Online - The Fantasy Game
The Tinkerman of Fantasy Football games, those Time’s boys just can’t leave their rules alone each season. This year its £30,000 for the winner, £6 a team to enter. [Review]
You The Manager
The Fantasy Football Game hosted by the Daily Mirror and various other sources. The home of the multi-entrant manager. [Review]
The Sun Dreamteam
The Sun newspapers very own Fantasy Football game. Another game that’s popular with multi-entrant managers. [Review]
