Introducing The ICT Scout Index

Yesterday we launched the ICT Scout Index for our Members. This is immediately viewable via the dashboard on login, with top 10’s displayable for both the current Gameweek and the season as a whole. Obviously, right now, this is based on last season’s data.

Read on for more details on what the ICT Index brings to our Members’ offering…

What is the ICT Scout Index?

Basically this is a football index created specifically to assess a player in Fantasy terms. It uses the statistical data already available to Members to create a single score for three key areas – Influence, Creativity and Threat. These scores then combine to create a single ICT Scout Index score.

In basic terms the ICT index will help to make our statistics easier to digest. The individual index scores help to measure a player’s importance to their team and to a match (Influence), a player’s likelihood to earn assists (Creativity) and to score goals, or at least get in goalscoring situations (Threat).

Index scores will be generated on a gameweek basis and cumulatively over the season for all players. All the usual statistics are available, but Members now have an easy route to identify how players are performing across the key statistics – they can go straight in now and start analysing players based on last season’s data.

The index, like any football index, will require tweaking as we go. Even so, we feel that it’s a valuable addition for our Members and offers us plenty of material to discuss in a series of new weekly Members articles.

How Can I View the ICT Scout Index?

In addition to the Top 10 standings on the Members dashboard, the full index is available within the Fantasy Index tab for Player Stats. You can view the index by position or for all players.

By default this offers a cumulative view of the Index totals – however, Members can also slice the data by a given gameweek or a range of gameweeks and view average Index scores per appearance using the Advance Filter Options.

The Player Profiles (available by clicking on any player), also offer a complete Gameweek by Gameweek breakdown of a players’ Index score. Using this, you can analyse trends and assess how a player is developing in terms of Fantasy potential as the season progresses.

We will of course, use such breakdowns in our regular articles to help you identify those players in form according to their ICT Scout Index scores.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I currently have Moses in my team, anyone thinking under the new Bonus points scheme that Lucas or De Jog may prove to be better buys?
Just don't like the thought of having a Wigan player in my team lol

Moses is now up to 2.7% from 2.1% since the Scout article went up on FPL. He is potentially a very nice differential until everyone else reads it tomorrow.

the new bp system appears to be weighted heavily toward goalscorers... de jong and lucas definitely don't fit that bill. i think moses is the best 5.0 option by a mile considering his fixtures and goalscoring potential. if you want a yellow card magnet you may as well get tiote for 0.5 less

yep i know! i always do this to myself and go for the budget risk defenders from the top teams, i swore to myself i wasnt gonna do it this year but freeing up that extra 2 mill earlier today from cole was an eye opener. im gonna risk bos for the next few weeks and ride it out i think. have read a lot about avb liking his attacking full backs so hopefully bos avoids injury and plays well enough to hold down a spot.

as for fox i don't know a lot either, i was just searching for an attacking 4.5 player and heard his name on the grapevine. any suggestions for alternatives?

Looked at stats for Norwich last season and Fox had s few goals and something like 9 assists. I have him in atm.

Only worry from those same stats was he only played 26 times (out of 46). Any Norwich fans around want to give some insight here?

They're playing each other GW2, and could both very well score: Van Persie will be playing at home, and Carroll is going to cause the Arsenal defence all kinds of trouble.

Bosingwa should start so your defence is sound considering the money it locks has gone into a lovely front three.

even though arsenal are losing their two biggest players van persie is a fantasy beast. he scored ridiculously well even for the long stretch when fabs was out last season and that has swung it for me... what do you think of rooney? i didnt think he looked all that in the charity shield, lying a bit too deep for my taste. that being said he'll score a hatrick saturday!!

alright thanks for the feedback on fox, i'll make that transfer

Definitely, I loved him at the end of last season.

I've gone for Rooney though. This little injury niggle, Arsenal's depleting squad and Rooney's reliable 90 minutes edged him. If I see he's definitely playing I may get him back.

He definitely played deep at times in that game, feeding Nani and Welbeck's runs. It's a close call!

http://t.co/44aNksk check it out, van persie confirmed fit (link is on the ffs twitter stream if you don't trust that!). so something to consider, yea i think i'm gonna stick with rvp for now and see what rooney can conjure up, i don't particularly like the look of their fixtures for the first five but it's scary not having any united coverage whatsoever.

Oh sweet yeah, Arsenal tweeted this.

It's definitely scary. I was happy with Rooney because of the coverage. Now I'll have to consider swapping out Malouda for Nani only to bring him back in GW2.

I nearly wrote I'd rather he'd stayed injured but then I realised I'm an Arsenal fan. Shameful.

now that is a tactic i like the sound of, malouda to nani then get him back for gw2, i really don't fancy chelsea to run riot at stoke.

Bramble and Wes Brown at Sunderland- I just think there is a risk as to who starts regularly. Each is a strong player, but at 4.5 ....I would hope for a solid locked starter. I posted some stuff on this on the previous page.

This is why I chose Alcaraz, who is solid, but not on my favorite team and I'll probably have to change him in five or six weeks which sucks ...... until Bramble or Brown are locks or a cheap 4.0 surfaces as a replacement.

I don't know Fox. Does he score, or is he a holding mid?

The rest of your team works-- Boswingwa might also be a starting risk in the following weeks.

good points, i thought bramble was a locked down starter to be honest. i want a sunderland defender because newcastle and sunderland rotate so well, and i thought bramble was the safest option for 4.5... i just don't trust wigan to get clean sheets which is why i wouldn't even consider alcaraz.

fox is a winger, and that's about the extent of my knowledge. probably going to switch him to dyer on the above advice.

        thanks for the feedback

What's the deal with Bramble then? Lots of talk of him being a rotation risk? I had a look at pre season line ups and he was only there a couple of times (but it did seem fairly random). One thing I did notcie was that he was captain for one game he played.

Is it safer to go with Brown, I'm starting to worry now.

I've got both of them up front with a 5.5

One big hitter in the midfield, 3 mid price one cheapie

One big defender, one mid priced, 3 cheapies.

Both are brilliant picks and will score you lots of points I hope. The idea is that they will both be worth the extra money spent. When Hernandez is back though I expect I'll do Rooney -> Hernandez and upgrade where I see fit.

Nani all the MANU cover you need to start the season. Rooney at 12mil is too much for his role these days.

That being said, he will now duly bag a hatrick!

    thinking about this strategy....please RMT:

    kenny (given)
    lescott/delaet/riise (bardsley/taylor)
    silva/downing/moses/taarabt (formica)
    zamora/dzeko/gervinho

5.0 in the bank to move for
    a) malouda in gw2
    b) dzeko > holt and some distribution of 8.0m to do formica > 9-10 range and gervinho to chelsea att

obviously dzeko is a punt, but with tevez and aguero out he could come a cropper in gw1. i've decided to keep so much in the bank because it doesn't make sense investing in malouda if i'm going to bench him gw1 (which would have to be the case, as moses, downing, silva and taarabt MUST start), and it gives me some serious wiggle room for what i do in gw2.

    thoughts?

Poor team. Start with Malouda, ship out Formica who'll misfire. Instead of Dzeko and Gervinho, go for one cheap, one big hitter. Taylor is suspended in defense, pick someone else.

leaky newcastle defense, RVP a doubt, you're advising i get rid of arsenal's primary attacking threat in gw1?

you've missed the point of formica, as he's a placeholder for one of malouda/nani/young/benayoun based on who looks best in the first gw. i'm not counting on him to "fire" and, if he does, well then i'll use to money to upgrade elsewhere and ride formica's price rise.

also not sure who you're talking about, but steven taylor has great CS potential, isn't suspended and is ALWAYS a goal threat. no other taylor in defense that anyone should be considering, anyways.

taking you to task a bit because it is clearly NOT a "poor" team. i posted to get some insight. repeating back to me the various mantra of the masses doesn't qualify!

B for me. RVP is incredible and fixture proof and will get the highest PPG ratio this season comfortably I reckon. NZog is a much greedier player than Silva and although Silva is a better player, Zog will be more involved in point scoring activity IMO.

A, given fixtures and other aspects. think silva is pretty settled as the main creative force for city and bent just needs to do what he always does.

sure, rvp is rvp, but we're not sure how the team will react to the departure of cesc, and nzog hasn't been playing in the villa system for long...

Same two expensive defenders with me. I think they are worth the investment. City and Chelsea defenders will get you a clean sheet almost every other game and players like Cole and Lescott with provide you with smatterings of attacking points too. For the price of mid priced midfielders they are worth it.

Don't think it's worth going with one or no high priced defenders because you need a solid defence who will score you decent points to score well consistently.
