Seriously following the trial has been nonstop entertainment, Harry has been talking so much shit and he knows it and he knows we know it. "I write like a 3 year old". "I'm hopeless at managing my money". Shame it's our money at stake.

Maybe I'm being naive, but if you're a manager on, what, £2m - £3m a year, why take the risk of evading tax on a poxy £100k?

I could understand it in the old days when Clough, Venables and George Graham were on much less money and would take bungs left, right and centre, but now it seems like a stupid risk for not much reward.

You could also say that Harry has hardly proven tight with money, he blows it at Spurs like a Japanese businessman at a strip club. So seems bizarre to go to all of this trouble for £100k.

Fact is, motivation need not be proven, just breaking the law - it looks very much like he will fall foul of the latter.

Yes, you are, I'm afraid. There is truly a disgusting culture of tax FRAUD amongst all the wealthy. They are all doing it - and the accounting kleptocracy helps them. Mrs Thatcher presided over Geoffrey Howe's deregulation of the city in 1981, and let it all rip from that point forward.

Yep, once again the sickening thing is that the richer you are the more you get away with cheating the public out of their money.

I do think in all of this we have to see past Harry's cuddly character and face it that (if guilty) he is effectively cheating us.

Need to distinguish between tax avoidance and tax evasion. Avoidance is not only quite legal, it's plain common sense. But what Harry is being asked about is evasion.

Another way of looking at taxation is that the Government steals money from people who have earned it, thinking they know better what to do with it than you do, and then end up giving it away to people who don't want to work.

No wonder people try to avoid paying tax

Yes, but the context of this matter is only tax evasion, not avoidance - I'm only talking about the former. We're dealing with a situation here where it looks like Harry broke rules, not used the rules to reduce his tax bill.

I am very familiar with that way of seeing tax and I sympathise to some extent with it. However, the only way society is going to work is by playing by the rules, and if we are damned with the rules, I am utterly determined that the wealthiest must follow them as much as the poorest of us, because if anything their need is the least.

Exactly. The more power and wealth you accumulate, the more you want. Once they get themselves into a privileged position they think they are invincible and will cheat and scam their way through because they think they can get away with it.

It's only in the States I think that you will consistently be sent to jail even if you are rich, because the Feds go after you with a vengeance there. In this country, on this score, I think we have much to learn from them. We operate a quiet, behind-closed-doors favouritism towards the great and good of society.

Fair point. When Rooney drops off, Fergie likes the striker to have pace and play on the shoulder of the defender.

The combo that doesn't work of course is Rooney/Berba, so SAF will probably go with that

when in doubt play the home player is the usual motto. Personally I would go with Evans, as Chelsea don't seem very prolific. Then again most of their big games they have lost in a high scoring manner. Schucks, I'm in doubt. Jose.

    Mignolet, McClean, Evans, Kelly

Stick with this or play Mignolet or McClean?

Some Spurs team news for you all:

Kevin Bond described Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe as 'extremely doubtful' for Monday's trip to Liverpool.
Kevin. "We'll give them every chance and the medical staff are working hard to see if they can get them there."
Kevin said it was too early to say whether or not Rafa would be fit but, good news, expected Kyle Walker to be okay for Anfield.

best defender for gw 25 and 28?

    Evans (LIV, WBA)
    Taiwo (bla, bol)
    Ward (WBA, BLA)

evans seems the obvious, taiwo seems to need attacking returns perhaps, ward perhaps a little cheeky?

With 3.7 mill in the bank I can either

    a) McClean => Sess and Fletcher => Ba (c.7.4)

    or

    b) Keep McClean and Fletcher => a 9.8 mill striker (Dzeko, Ade, Suarez etc)

My questions are: is Sess a massive improvement on McClean and are the 9 mill strikers actually doing much better than the 7 mill strikers?
