Gameweek Twenty Nine Postponements Confirmed

Clubs have today officially announced the postponement of their Premier League fixtures in Gameweek 29, as a result of the FA Cup Quarter-Finals taking place on the weekend of March 17. The ten fixtures have also been removed from the Fantasy Premier League schedule.

Our Season tickers for members and non-members have now been updated accordingly, with all the affected fixtures removed. The Man City vs Chelsea fixture currently remains in place, although this could also fall victim, should Chelsea prevail in their replay with Birmingham. That match will be played on Tuesday March 6 – by then we will hopefully have confirmation of new dates for the league fixtures.

As mentioned in Sunday’s article – all the affected fixtures could well move to the Tuesday March 20 and Wednesday March 21, keeping them in Gameweek 29. We await confirmation of this from the Premier League but, until then, the Gameweek is reduced to just five matches.

The Season Tickers were also updated today with new ratings for all teams based on recent home and away form.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In total, no less than 10 Scottish managers have won manager of the month?

I'll start you off with Sir Alex Ferguson, name the other 9.

                🙂

In all seriousness, and even as I know you're not very old, I've always felt one should take time to listen carefully to anyone older than yourself when it comes to football.

I've read lots about football from back in the days but you understand much more what it was about when you hear the stories from someone who was there.

Football is so much about opinions. Plenty of the written stuff fails to 'capture the subjectivity'.

Philosphical stuff this, have no Idea why I wrote all of this.

CL captain problem. Currently have Messi captan and his 9 pts are pretty sadisfactory. But I also have CR7 going tomorrow, so I am thinking of switching to him and hoping for a bigger haul. If he fails I could switch to Gomez the next day.

        Lies! 10+ points for sure....

On a more serious note, surely PL game is more important than a home Europa League tie where they already lead so Mancini should rest him v Porto instead?

The minds of managers work in strange ways though sometimes!

Mancini didn't really try to win the Europa last year when they had a good chance, why this year when they are in contention for the PL. Even if it is Blackburn and Bolton he can't risk losing points.

Considering using one of my frees to do Valencia > McClean this week, which in doing so frees up funds to enable Aguero > Rooney and Dempsey > Nani for GW28.

Obviously Sunderland's fixtures aren't great and they and Swansea (Siggy's currently my fifth mid) don't rotate but I can't see too many other attractive options.

    Thoughts?

Yup, he was starting to look settled. He reads the game very well. We can't keep buying a new CB, need to get a settled partnership and him and Kos is the best we have.

No Ryan Taylor next season! At least until someone gets injured, then he'll start every game! I'd love to see him on the right hand side but Pardew's reluctant to play him there because of lack of defending and he hasn't strung 3 or 4 solid games together yet without a no show.

Any Man Utd fans know if Evans will definitely keep playing, even when Smalling and Jones are fully fit? It'd be a nice moneysaver as I have Smalling at the minute.

I'm pretty sure Evans is nailed on. Fergie likes him and he plays well with Smalling or Ferdinand. I don't think Jones is a threat for the CB position, he is better suited to RB or even CM.

Is there a difference of 8pts between home and away teams. +4 for home and -4 for away? am I reading it wrong because it seems a little excessive. Perhaps the group standings need to be adjusted?

We have to put in the scores manually. So we always add on 4. But the 4 still counts as a goal for.

So in a normal result such as 25 (a)-10 (h) does it read the equivalent of 21 - 10 once the -4 has been taken into account for the away side. So in for and against it should be

                  Ryan 21 for, 10 against
                  Chazza 10 for, 21 against

Am I right or is it +4 for the home team and 0 for the away team

Good point Ryan but we don't want to confuse Point Difference with actual "pts" due to Win/Loss/Draw in the group standings.

In this format, FPL points = goals (guess we've figured that out by now) 🙂

Alternatively there are various free forum hosting sites around, in case its easier to have it all separate to FFS, though that kinda ruins the point of the cup doesn't it? This site looked best from a quick google search: http://www.forumotion.com/

I am contemplating Bale out..Mata in (for 4 point hit).
I only bought Bale at 9.1, so can sell for 9.4, with a view to getting him back in GW29 or GW31. I don't like his fixtures (ars, MU, eve, STO, che) and I don't like the fact that he could be given a less free role by 'Arry due to recent tactical tinkerings and the relatively tough schedule.
Mata has BOL, wba, STO, mci, TOT. I know Chelsea look poor ATM but I'm looking for a wee differential with all the generic teams out there and I haven't taken a 4 pointer in ages.

I don't see anyone as a "must have" or "season keeper"........I'm sorely tempted on this one.

Personally I dont fancy getting rid of Bale right now, but it is the sort of brave decision that could pay off considering the fixtures. But Bale has shown he can perform against top opposition, and looks more dangerous when he's not in a free role, ie on either wing he can whip in great crosses or cut in and shoot, he often gets more stifled in the centre.

But I dont think i'd do it for a hit. Arsenal are 'tough' opposition, but thats more because the have RVP to score goals than their back line, especially now on a poor run of form, Bale could score big against the local rivals 😉

Chelsea are terrible going forward, and Mata's pattern is one big score then silence for weeks. Chelsea offense looks like a pretty terrible place for investment, to me. There' no way I would get rid of Bale for Mata, let alone for a hit.

If Everton draw with Sunderland, the replay will take place during wc19th March, therefore it will effect 4 teams. Everton and scheduled opponents & Sunderland and scheduled opponents on GW29. If there is a draw between Liverpool and Stoke, there will be 4 more teams effected.

I understand that it affects the teams they play as well. I am just confused with your point about when the fixtures will be played. Currently any replayed FA cup games will be on the weekend of GW29 17th-19th. So a good number of those premierleague games will need to be rescheduled. The rescheduled premierleague games can be played midweek from the 19th. How can these be affected by the FA cup replays on the weekend?
Are your saying the FA cup replays will take place midweek instead of the premierleague games that might be re-scheduled for that midweek slot?

I see. So those games are not replays, so if there is a draw there will need to be another fixture spot found for the replay. Are you saying that if there is a draw the replay will be midweek from the 19th therefore interfering with the potentially rescheduled premierleague games midweek from the 19th

I suppose the rescheduled premierleague games could still happen in the midweek before GW29. Nothing is confirmed yet

2 free transfers burning a hole in my pocket, let me know what you think

    Sorensen (Vorm)
    Evans, Richards, Simpson
    Bale, Silva, Sessegnon, Dempsey
    RVP, Ba, Aguero

    McClean, Taiwo, Kelly

£.8m and figure I may as well use one freebie rather than lose it so thinking either

Taiwo -> Caulker just to free up money in future
    or
    Richards -> Kompany ...more guaranteed

      I'd suggest sorenson > Schwarzer

GW28 wildcard draft - how would you improve this lot? Should enable me to field 11 in GW29 (assuming games are reschuduled for another week) and I'll try and save 2 freebies to load up on LIV players in GW30...

    Lindegaard, Bogdan
    Kompany, JEvans, Simpson, Kelly, Caulker
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Ox, Siggy
    RVP, Rooney, Ba

That's only 9 that will play on GW 29...correct?

Also, don't load up on Liverpool players at GW 30....load up on Spurs players. Spurs actually score goals.

Kompany & Silva too (although the MCY vs CHE game could also get changed...)

Was thinking of a LIV defender (Skrtel or Johnson) and maybe even the Suarez!! I'd quite like a Spurs defender too, and perhaps Adebayor!!

If you're assuming hte Spurs game is off, you have to assume the City game is off.

You want Suarez? Really? You want the striker who doesn't score? Ade all day, on that one.

I understand getting a pool defender, but dont look for anything more.

I was going by the ticker on here. Also, even if Spurs don't get through, Everton already are so there EPL game in GW29 is definitely already postponed.

I think you're right re Ade vs Suarez. Pool will have 2 DGWs though which is enticing me in....Perhaps I'll stick with just Johnson/Skrtel though...
