Van Persie to be Assessed for Liverpool Game

Robin Van Persie will be assessed prior to Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool. Thomas Vermaelen also has a problem for the Gunners. Wayne Rooney is back for United, though Antonio Valencia remains sidelined. Jonny Howson could be in line for his first game for Norwich, while Jamie O’Hara is willing to play through the pain barrier for Wolves:

Arsene Wenger was full of information for Fantasy managers this morning, though some of it we perhaps didn’t want to hear. The Arsenal boss revealed Robin Van Persie “has a little groin problem we will have to assess”, ahead of the trip to Liverpool tomorrow. Van Persie played the first half for Holland in midweek and was initially considered a doubt for the friendly against England due to the same problem- the fact that he participated will give Fantasy managers confidence of his availability for Anfield, though.

Thomas Vermaelen also has a “problem” that needs to be assessed, according to Wenger. In midfield, Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out, Abou Diaby is available once again, while Thomas Rosicky has a groin problem but is expected to be available, according to his manager. Wenger also revealed Andre Santos is on the mend and is expected back in a fortnight’s time from an ankle injury.

Wayne Rooney is back in the United squad for the trip to White Hart Lane. The forward missed out last weekend in the 2-1 win at Norwich but has now recovered from a throat infection. Antonio Valencia and Tom Cleverley will both miss out, however, while Chris Smalling is a doubt after his clash of heads with Dutch striker Jan Klaas Huntelaar in midweek. Sir Alex Ferguson also revealed Michael Owen is back in training ahead of Sunday’s afternoon showdown.

Jonny Howson could be set for his Norwich debut this weekend. The former Leeds man has finally overcome a knee injury and turned out for the reserves in midweek- Paul Lambert has included him in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Stoke. Left-back Marc Tierney remains sidelined with a groin problem for the Canaries, Daniel Ayala and James Vaughan have both been ruled out, while Elliot Bennet is fit and available once more.

Nikica Jelavic is in the Everton squad for the visit to QPR tomorrow. The big-money signing from Rangers has played just half an hour since his January move, after picking up a muscle injury. Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman and Jack Rodwell will all be assessed ahead of the Loftus Road showdown, though David Moyes has revealed Darron Gibson has failed to overcome a knee injury and has been ruled out.

Jamie O’Hara has revealed he is still in some discomfort after a recent double hernia operation. The Wolves midfielder has started the last three gameweeks but had been absent for eight matches prior to his return. Installed in the hole behind Kevin Doyle in a 4-5-1 by new boss Terry Connor, O’Hara provided an assist in the 2-2 draw at Newcastle last time round but has admitted he is far from 100% right now:

I’m still trying to get back to full fitness as I’ve been having injections before training and games. I’m just desperate to play and don’t want to miss any more games so I’m fighting with things a little bit. That’s probably why I was brought off after 70 minutes just to protect me a little bit. Hopefully over the next few weeks things will settle down and I’ll be able to play pain-free.

Best mid for this week for 8.4 max? Can't be City.

    Moses?
    Walters?
    Taarabt?
    Pilko?

I'd steer clear of Taarabt and Walters due to form.

Pilko is a great choice, as is the holy one. Keep a watchful eye on N'Zonzi or Gamst Pedersen too though.

Getting in a cheap mid means you can switch another of your mids to Nani/Valencia next week.

Cheers, I'm wildcarding next week anyway so this is just a one off. Replacement for Valencia.

Noted on Taarabt and Walters. Moses could be the one. Was looking at Pienaar too. Pilko away to Stoke I'm not too sure about.

The thing with Nani for Bale for me is that it effectively means I won't be getting Rooney in for at least three weeks.

I could either do Bale and Fletcher for 5.1m mid and rooney for a hit

or a simple Bale for Nani no hit

Its a massive decision where 4pt spent this week could make or break my season.

If Bale's fit I have no worries.

Yep I think that analysis is true for me too, initial plan was to have Rooney and Enrique for Aguero and Richards next week, partially funded by Sess to Miyaichi this week (with Miyaichi benched). If I end up doing Bale to Nani then I need to rethink what, if anything I'm doing with Aguero in the short term, plan A involves far fewer question marks.

Don't care what he would cost to get back in. No use ignoring current scorers just to keep him on the bench. That's not the purpose of the game. Once Spurs fixtures pick up and he looks like playing the way he was then he will be worth paying a bit extra for him. But until then it's time to look where the points are.

I'd lose 0.6m on him, if he's out for three weeks then he'll come down about 0.3-0.4...so more than happy to spend an extra bit to get him back for spurs better run from gwk31.

I only get 9mil back on the sale.

So he needs to come down loads.

My understanding though is if he get's redflagged absolutely loads could dump him with minimal effect on his value.

Getting him back if a week or two late could cost over £10mil?

Given his next 3 fixtures weren't the greatest anyway, I think I am going to see it out.

Dirk did deliver a cross that arrived where he most likely intended it to arrive. For him, that's massive form. I couldn't live with having him in my team though.

Yeah, it's pretty classy. The problem with our normal kit is that it's all orange, not really a color you want to be walking around in. I have the sweater from the world cup, but can't bear to be actually seen in it.

It does make you look like a Hari Krishna devotee.
The black one is sweeeeeeeeet though. Theres actually a few really nice kits for the Euros. The new French away one:
                    http://store.nike.com/ie/en_gb/?l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-102602/pid-448048
                    Is lovely, but its French.

I actually quite like the German one too:
                    http://therightwinger.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/adidas-germany-away-2012-13-euro.jpg
                    But again, its German.

The wooden spoon for horribleness surprisingly doesnt go to Englands nasty new kits, but to this rotten effort:

Not sure if this is a good suggestion but never use the "Liverpool" drop-down menu on the FPL transfers page. Only consider the "Defenders" option from the drop-down.

Its really a crap shoot. LFC has 4 cleans at home all season 3 where 0-0 against swa, sto, tot and a 1-0 over qpr. Swansea doesnt do any better on the road. I would go Naylor based purely on opponent.

that's illogical. If you play a game of chance like heads/tails its 50/50 the more times you play doesnt increase your chances. Sorry its a lack of finishing at this point. If it was a few gw i could buy into it.

My original plan was to save the rarn transfer this gw! That aint happening so.....do you think I should use my transfer if the worst case scenario were to take place:

      Krul (Vorm)
      Simpson Kelly Richards (Enrique) (BAE)
      Silva Bale Walters Dempsey (siggy)
      RVP Aguero (c) Ba

      Subs if non starters:

      FFS UCL - Group E - GW26

      Chelsea
      points: 47 + 4 = 51
      transfers: 0
      captain: Ba (Kun)

      Bayer Leverkusen
      points: 55
      transfers: 1
      captain: Kun (Cisse)

Gw 26 saw a faltering start at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea. Manager Hitomi had better juggle her assets effectively to progress in this group. Chelsea were willing, if a little tired. Leverkusen were formidable guests whose score of 55 made a mockery of home advantage. This was not a tie lost by Cheklsea but rather won by the visitors, coached by FrogDog who made some pretty flair selections. Holding Dave to Hitomi's Ba, fielding the Ox and, most spectacularly, coaxing 16 points from his back three for a modest but decisive 4 point victory.

      Racing Genk
      points: 46 + 4 = 50
      transfers: 0
      captain: Kun (Ba)

      Valencia
      points: 60
      transfers: 1
      captain: Kun (Ba)

The headline result of Round 1 was surely plucky Aguerolicioso defeating top ranked entrant Brian (not the messiah) by a whopping 10 points away from home. This will surely sting the second
best manager from South Africa. Even with a defence ravaged by injury, Brian's 50 points are most respectable, the UCL round average in fact. There was just no stopping Valencia, not even with
two keepers. The outstanding Key Differential and certainly the flair pick of the round, Luiz cleaned up at the back and, with 13 points, singlehandedly took his team to a famous victory.
