The Big Numbers – Gameweek Thirty Five

Everton stun United at Old Trafford to leave the door ajar for City and set up a momentous Manchester derby. City did the business as expected at Molineux, with Sergio Aguero netting for the third consecutive game to bring the title race to the boil.

Our Members can dive into the statistics from all the Gameweek’s action so far, with our selection of the key numbers to follow, along with a view on the possible destination of the Fantasy Premier League bonus points…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Isnt anyone else tired of the mind games that managers play, and the wishy-washy bullshit they spout in their press conferences and interviews?

Really, if you were a City fan, and the title was back in your hands, would you rather hear your manager saying that Man U were still favourites, or would you rather hear Mancini say "f*cking YES! - we are going to pump Man U at the Etihad and take the title?

The same goes for other non-commital crap that all managers come out with. I'm sorry, but if an interviewer asks you how many points you think you'll need to stay up, or how many wins you think you'll need to get a champions league place, goddamit I want a f*cking straight answer - not this "well, we'll just try to get as many points as we can and then see where we are etc" pish!

Mourinho might often have been a bit of a dick, but god it was refreshing to just have a guy come out and say "my team is the best and we are going to win"

Yeah I agree with most of what you say. Sometimes you wonder why they bother talking to the press when they don't give and decent answers and just tip toe around the questions.

I think Mancini is pretty boring with his chat but I guess he can't say too much about the title incase they slip up and he looks like a complete fandango.

It doesn't bother me one bit tbh. I don't take much notice of what managers have to say.

Thats exactly the point though. Nobody ever says anything of consequence anymore so its not worth even listening to anymore

Nobody ever puts their balls on the line and says that they really feel

Not like on here, you NEVER hear a manager say, "you know what, "X" is going to happen", or "in my honest opinion, "Y" are a pish team and on paper we should pump them" and you can bookmark that you d*cks"

Mind games work, see Keegan and Tim Fowers. 😉

My guess as to why Mancini was playing down his team's chances was to take the pressure off his team, and to also hope Utd become complacent because they think they have the title in the bag. When was the last time Utd gave up a two goal lead at Old Trafford? 1-0 Mancini in my book, playing Ferguson at his own game.

Repost, got stuck on bottom of last page and i need some answers quick, lol. So:

What do you guys think on my DGW team?

      Cech* (Vorm)
      Terry* | BAE* | Huth/Cahill* (Vermaelen, Jevans)
Bale* | Dempsey* | Sigurdsson | VDV* (Valencia)
      Jelavic* | Cisse* | RVP

Huth or Cahill for that defender spot?
      And any other improvements?

      Thanks

get rid of RVP his form has gone, he wil probably score 1 goal for rest of season but there are betetr strikers from now until the end. After man C rooney has good fixtures and he is scoring goals even when he isnt playing well so in fantasy terms rooney jelavic cisse aguero are top 4 strikers right now.

im thinking of getting pienar in for the double gameweek in place of valencia and benching one of tevez/rvp. my attack would look like this:

Pienar (FUL, sto), Dempsey (eve, liv), Bale (BLA, bol), Siggy (WOL), HBA (wig, CHE)

Cisse (wig,CHE) and one of RVP (sto) or Tevez (UTD)

Does this sound like a decent plan? Or am I being too clever for my own good?

      *Schwarzer
      *Simpson - *BAE - Vermaelen
      *Bale - *Dempsey - Siggy - Sess.
      Aguero - RvP - Rooney
      SUB: Vorm, Valencia, Turner, Evans

Wanna bring Jelly and/or Cisse, but can't decide who to sell... RvP, Rooney, or Aguero?

By the look of form and fixture, it looks not so bad to lose RvP.

      - RvP .. sto, NOR, wba .. last open-play goal since 12 Mar
      - Rooney .. mci, SWA, sun .. 6 goals (2 pk) in last 6 games
      - Aguero .. MUN, new, QPR .. 5 goals + 2 assists in last 4 games

But City v United was normally not a high scoring game (0-1 , 1-0 , 0-1 , 0-1 , 0-0). It might be not bad to lose Aguero or Rooney too... Help please. Who would you sell for Jelly and/or Cisse? 😕

My plan: Bring in Jelly, VdV and Bale for an 8pt hit.

      This would give me:

      Vorm
      Williamson*-Caulker-Vermaelen
      Bale*-VdV*-Demps*-Barfa*-Siggy
      Jelly*-Cisse*

(RVP-Evans-Kompany) with 6.0 in the bank to do Cisse->Rooney GW37.

I know he's not scored well of late, but I don't like benching RVP. Stoke have looked rubbish the last few weeks and we still need results. Perhaps only bring in 1 of VDV or Bale?

The double hit could work, but I'd bench Siggy over RVP if you do it. Trouble is, both Siggy and RVP could outscore the Spurs duo, so that would probably put me off both.

I think I'd go Bale, just. 6 weeks ago, Bale by a mile. Now, it's very close.

Which would you rather for the DGW?

      a) Caulker (WOL)
      b) Terry (QPR, NEW) - 4 points

I think he's the most likely of the back 4. He's the captain and Chelsea struggle at the back without him there. They still have a shot at 4th so expect them to put out strong teams. That said, an FA Cup final and CL semi final are reasonable excuses to rest him. Hmm.

One of my keyboar letters not working !!

      Who to rop from

      Aguero
      Rooney
      Van Persie ?

Van persie capt material GM 35 an they still have stuff to play for
Aguero , possibly more useful for this week
Rooney , again will be useful for last two weeks

Im leaning towars ropping Aguero an playing Van Persie away to stoke

        Same dilemma above... 😕

Arsenal still have something to play for, but his form and injuries of Arteta & Walcott made me doubt. Can't make my mind with Aguero or Rooney too.. Really want Jelavic and Cisse.

          Im thinking that too

Its a bit of a comitment though , means spening points to take out , then using next weeks transfer to bring back in
Its about now i regret taking out Bale for Sessegnon a couple of weeks ago

I took Dempsey out about four weeks ago because of fixtures, nearly cost me my £ ML lead until some very lucky Captain picks over the same time.

Bad, bad GW. Really busy for the next few weeks though, so I've gone ahead already and sorted my DGW team out, could mess up but risks can reap rewards 🙂

      Begovic*
      Simpson* Vermaelen Caulker
      Siggy Bale* VDV* Dempsey*
      Cisse* Jelavic* RVP

Doubled up on Spurs but in two game, even despite form, I think they'll get some good points. In form strikers apart from RVP but he can act almost as my differential now and you know he's always capable of the big points.

          ...8 points worth.

Crazy but meh, it could pay off and I went for gut rather than asking and going against a decision I'd make myself, if it doesn't pay off I've got myself to blame and if it does it's all good 🙂

Too many times I've not done and alike with this week, not getting Ade out when I thought he might not play for Cisse screwed me over.

It should still mean I'm ahead in ML, albeit by only a point or two but gives me a strong DGW team, while still being able to afford to field a strong team in 37 and 38.

Thats not a drastic hit for a DGW, any more and you might need hits to sort the team for 37 & 38.

True, I think 4 points for a single week isn't too bad so considering I've got in the DGW it should cover it, even without them having to score high.

I think VDV and Bale could really pay off though, I know they've not been great but at home against Blackburn and away to Bolton are decent fixtures, despite them being relegation fighters. I'd hope Redknapp has given them a hiding and will have learnt some tactics by the DGW.

...plus the game is all about risks, it's what it makes it so good and this DGW is a great time to try them 🙂

Think it's gonna be tough with Blackburn and QPR holding strong but next 3 games are crucial, win against Blackburn should seal it and hopefully we'll hammer Wolves...gonna be an exciting end to the season!

I’m about 30 points behind my minileague rival and need to make up points,he played his wildcard this week and is set for GW36 but cannot give up :p How can I best differentiate? No use getting the same players as then I’ll obviously just match his score.

      MY TEAM:

      Bogdan | Mignolet
      Kelly | Evans | Vermaelen | Caulker | McAuley
      Walcott | Bale | Valencia | Siggy | Sess
      RVP | Aguero | Cisse

      HIS TEAM

      Bogdan | Howard
      Jagielka | Lichaj | Huth | Rafael | Cahill
Pienaar | Ben Arfa | Dempsey | Mata | Petrov
      Tevez | Aguero | Cisse

I have only 1 transfer for GW36 but might take a hit or 2. Jelavic, Adebayor, Cabaye, VDV, Assou Ekotto are all in my thinking, any ideas? thx

      Which is best?

      A) Kompany & Sess -> Jags & VDV
      B) Sess & Rooney -> VDV & Jelavic

If doing B) I'd have just enough to do P Cisse -> Rooney in GW37
If dong A) I'd have 0.0m in the bank, but a spare transfer to use or even roll forward to GW38

      BOGDAN, (Migs)
      SKRTEL, Caulker, Turner, (Kompany), (JEvans)
      DEMPSEY, BALE, Sessegnon, Siggy, (Valencia)
      Rvp, Rooney, P CISSE
