Scout Scribbles- Cahill and Luiz Both Out of Newcastle Game

Roberto Di Matteo rules David Luiz and Gary Cahill out of Chelsea’s home clash with Newcastle tomorrow. Danny Welbeck could be a doubt for United due to an ankle problem, Matt Jarvis expects to overcome a groin problem for Wolves’ home game with Everton, while Newcastle welcome back Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveuax to the first-team squad ahead of their trip to the Bridge:

David Luiz and Gary Cahill have both been ruled out of Chelsea’s game with Newcastle tomorrow evening. Roberto Di Matteo confirmed the defensive duo will be missing from the Magpies clash, though with Branislav Ivanovic available after a three-game suspension, his options at the back have increased from Sunday’s squad against QPR. Ivanovic is likely to partner John Terry in the heart of defence against Alan Pardew’s visitors, with Jose Bosingwa perhaps favourite to get the nod over Paulo Ferreira at right-back. Although reports earlier today suggested Luiz is on course to recover in time for Saturday’s FA Cup Final with Liverpool, the interim Chelsea boss gave no indication of a time scale for a return.

Reports suggest Danny Welbeck could be an injury doubt for United after leaving Old Trafford with a protective boot on his ankle last night. Welbeck was in decent form heading into the City match, with two goals and a pair of assists in his last couple of Gameweeks but dropped out of the starting lineup as a result of United’s change to a 4-5-1. Climbing off the bench with just over half an hour left, he was subject to a heavy challenge by Nigel De Jong, resulting in Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini squaring up on the Etihad touchline – with United needs goals on Sunday, Javier Hernandez could be a decent differential as Swansea roll up to Old Trafford.

Matt Jarvis expects to overcome the groin problem that forced him off at Swansea last weekend. The Wolves winger lasted 71 minutes at the Liberty, returning two goals and the maximum bonus points for his Fantasy owners and continues to be the main performer for the midlands outfit under Terry Connor, having scored five of the side’s 10 goals since the dismissal of Mick McCarthy. With Wolves grabbing four at Swansea last weekend, it seems as if caution has been thrown firmly to the wind and, with their final home game of the season against Everton followed by a trip to Wigan, Jarvis has the potential to continue his recent strong form.

Gabriel Obertan has declared himself fit and available for Newcastle’s trip to Chelsea tomorrow evening. The winger has failed to feature since Gameweek 28 due to an ankle problem but is likely to be on the bench as Newcastle look to bounce back from their 4-0 thrashing at Wigan last weekend. Sylvain Marveaux is likely to join him – the Frenchman has recovered from hip and groin problems which have ruled him out since November.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

After the hat-trick Hodgson said he didn't know he was that good and promised he would get more starts this season. Never happened. I had Tchoyi in the back of my head all summer and had him in the first few weeks.

    hi all

so far I've been beaten to a pulp this week with Cisse captain. Any advice for next week? I might have to go Dempsey captain for an all out risk as my rival will be bringing in Rooney and making him captain.

    Vorm, Mign
    Clichy, JEvans, Hibbert, Turner, Simpson
    Dempsey, HBA, Bale, Siggy, Pienaar
    Cisse, RVP, Rooney
    £5 in bank

    options:
    Turner > Verm
    HBA/Siggy> Nasri/nani/Silva etc

    Any opinions?

I'm in a similar position with my rival not having RVP so will capt Rooney. He is a few points ahead so im debating whether to make it up on differentials or to be audacious and capt RVP

People need to get over the fact that the FA ended up going for Hodgson over Redknapp. 'Arry' was in the frame mostly due to a media driven campaign putting him as clear favourite. Journalists are naturally going to favour a manager like Arry who has a good rapport with them and communicates well with them so they chose to run the stories in favour of Redknapp being the automatic choice for the England job.

When Spurs were in great form Redknapp was an outstanding manager. When their results went wonky of late he is tactically naive. Football fans and journalists are a fickle breed. Liverpool aside Hodgson is a good manager and will have a chance of giving something different to the England set up.

Good luck to Roy, I think he's an excellent choice. If the squad players undermine him I'll be most annoyed.

I'd get rid of Lamps, Terry and much of the old guard after the Euros in any case. Do we really want to build the side around them in 2014?

    My Euro's team would be:

    .....................Hart..................
    Walker / Terry / Cahill / Cole
    ........Parker / Lampard..........
    Walcott /..... AOC ...../ Young
    ................Welbeck................

Rooney in for AOC when available. Lampard in to play his more reserved role like he currently is for Chelsea to give us more protection.

Surely we have to have as little of the "Old Guard" as possible in preparation for the next World Cup as we won't do anything in this tournament.

yakubu i wouldnt trust wellbeck may be out - I would add Odemwingie to that list - was very unlucky not to score v villa and took many shots. Bolton will be playing very open and desperate to score goals and win. Odemwingie can be killer on a counter. Most underrated punt for this week imo.

      B) Based on my Odemwingie punt - would go with Habsi - Wigan have become a big posession team of late and we saw against Tottenham Blackburns ambition against a possession team.

Under 2.5 goals mean that there won't be three goals in the game. Meaning it will end up as on of these results:

        0-0
        1-0
        0-1
        1-1
        2-0

2.5 goals means if it is 0, 1 or 2 goals scored he wins. 3 or more he looses.

2.5 is used so there is no confusion . . .
