Euro 2012

Euro 2012 – Captain Poll – Matchday 2

So…stick or twist? That’s the quandary facing Fantasy owners of Robert Lewandowski in the McDonald’s game after the Polish forward grabbed a goal and 12 point captaincy return in this evening’s 1-1 draw with Greece.

The Borussia Dortmund man was quick out the blocks, grabbing the opener after just 17 minutes and vindicating the 44% who voted him top of our Matchday 1 Captain Poll. Nodding home a cross from Jakub Blaszczykowski, Lewandowski looked primed to notch more after Greece were reduced to 10 men but the co-hosts failed to make their advantage pay before Wojciech Szczesny’s dismissal made the numbers even.

With Holland squaring up to Denmark tomorrow and Germany facing Portugal, there are plenty of options to consider. We rolled out the Captain Poll for Matchday 2 just after 5pm and already Robin Van Persie is an overwhelming favourite for tomorrow’s matches, acquiring 69% of the votes cast so far. Wesley Sneijder, Ibrahim Afellay and Arjen Robben also look in strong form heading into Saturday’s early kick-off, with Sneijder just sneaking into second place.

Later tomorrow evening, Germany’s clash with Portugal affords plenty of options, too. Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller and Lucas Podolski all look certain starters for Joachim Low’s side, while uncertainty still remains over who will lead the line – Miroslav Klose or Mario Gomez? Cristiano Ronaldo is also likely to pick up some support prior to tomorrow’s deadline in the McDonald’s game but one thing’s for sure – if it’s filled with half the incident of this afternoon’s encounter, we’re in for an entertaining day.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I probably wouldn't, although I have RVP captained, and if he got me 10, I would be tempted to tap Ibra.

Same dilema for me with Lewandowski.
Stick or go with RVP or Ozil.
If RVP delivers then everyone will be ahead of me, but if not a differential.

I'm not sure the Dutch system works in his favour. But those are famous last words.

Im twisting on the polish striker as capt.

    reasons

    1) People say you lose 6 points but you dont really , you only lose 4 , assuing you only end up with a

2 point captain from your next three attempts

    2) if you stick you wont enjy the next three days if one of your best players scores loads of points , instead you will be whining that you didnt take a chance

    3) Six points is a mediocre score , that will keep you in the pack , but with 500,000 players mediocre isnt gonn cut the mustard/ Time to man up and go for glory

    Twist 🙂

Have some doubts about the rules
    1) I understand I can change my captain before today's games. But if my 2nd day captain fails too, can I pick another one from day 3?
Had polanski as captain. Will switch for RVP.If RVP does nothing. Can i change my captain to Strinic(Day 3) and then M.Olsson(Day4)?
    2) How many subs can I make? Can I move all of my subs in for people who didn't play well?
Polanski and Zhirkov scored nothing, can I get in 2 of my subs?

        3rd day i have Iniesta

And for 2nd day, there is no penalty for using up all subs?

With Dzageov as captain I'm now in the odd position of wanting RVP, Ozil, Scniejder and Muller to do well, but not too well. A brace for each of the strikers and a couple of assists for the midfielders would do nicely 😉

Why did you guys tell me to pick Blasczkowski yesterday over Dzagoev?

So glad I ignored you all and stuck with Dzagoev and put him as captain.

InterestingIy, I posted the same suggestion on /sp/ and they went with Dzagoev unanimously.

Over here 4 people said Blaczcz and one suggested Dzag. However, those who chose Blaczcz gave no reason, whereas the person who said Dzag actually explained his choice.

The need to get Dzagoev and Shirokov has blown my gk strategy in rd around the Russki gk/defendery.

With Sczczczczny out as well and Given's stiffening fixtures, which 2 gks do you go for?

    Thinking Hart and Chalkiarse.

Longish post alert..... Commentary from the sidelines of Group D's match between England and France.

So England take a small but satisfactory lead in the first quarter of their match against France. The question now is will they maintain this advantage or will the French for the first time in their history not give up at the first sign of a battle they cannot win?

ROSCOLA is clearly benefitting from the guile of Drinky and the tactics that they have agreed upon at least at this stage are most definitely working. ROSCOLA was the outstanding Co-Manager for this part of the match but Drinky tells his eager colleague not to get carried away as on numerous times over the past six seasons in the premier league Drinky has started well only to have given up by Christmas after taking one too many gambles. The result being toys thrown out of prams and his squad of players imploding in the second half of each competition and usually going on strike and not even playing. Drinky as a consequence has not being taken seriously by his elder brother. However as a result of more dedication and a lot less time spent on the beautiful beaches of Dubai this year his Gooner brother has succumbed to a beating he will take a long time to recover from.

Their competitors France have some serious pedigree Drinky reminds his colleague, well at least their main manager Mark does who has been plying his trade at these types of competitions for many successful seasons. We do have to however question the judgement by Mark to enter this particular competition with ElNinoFools (sorry Rules) as his pedigree is somewhat a little less certain and some say his high finish last season is more as a result of some solid advise being given by the Deadzoners rather than his own ability... time will tell of course and to question Mark's judgement has been proved foolish in the past. G G Granville has and as a consequence, now sits out these Euros for medical reasons as otherwise a potential breakdown could have been on the cards.

So here we go; the second period of this game will commence shortly and the question on everyones lips is will the underdogs continue to fight above their weight or will they end up with a one way ticket to palooka-ville like Terry from Drinky's grav. The crowd is behind them now they just have to perform...

    My Assistant Manager says today-
Chalkias isn't likely to play in the next matchday. You could replace him with Tzorvas.

    Before Yesterday-
Chalkias isn't likely to play in the next matchday. You could replace him with Sifakis

anyone else captainin schneider over rvp today? the 5 points for a goal, coupled with CS points and a higher chance of RB's make schneider a better option imo

    Dear Dead Zoners.

Question on the Round 2 transfers.

If I start making transfers now, to avoid the price rises etc. Should I then decide not to wild card, can I put back my original team and not have played my wild card?

I presume not since the game will just keep counting each transfer as yet another one, but don't really get this dilemma in the EPL game. When you decide to do it, you just do it.

the only way you can take advantage of price rises is by playing your wc, you have to confirm you are playing your wc. once you confirm there is no going back. i think thats what you are asking

That's what I figured, but thanks for the confirmation.

Is there a Fiso Crack the Code style price rise monitoring site around?
