Moneyball – Raheem Sterling

The term ‘Moneyball’ should not become a synonym for “obscure” as value can sometimes still be found in even the brightest of spotlights. Therefore, having highlighted some fringe Fantasy prospects in the first few entries in this series, we will turn our attention this week to somewhere well overdue some strong returns and Fantasy attention: Anfield.

I like the second one except for this weekend. Mancini's talk about fresh legs makes me doubt Aguero starting this weekend. But I think after this weekend Aguero has the better fixtures and Vert is just better than Gallas imo.

Is Gallas a season-long option? Not sure. Vertonghen certainly is.

RVP vs. Aguero - for some reason I am more scared of not having RVP than I am Aguero. But that could change quick. Aguero has the short-term fixtures for sure. Easier to do RVP > Aguero though!

I've sat squarely on the fence there 🙂

Dont know abundance just looking at his scoring record- an average of 5 goals and 7.5 assists for the best team in germany is not very impressive. Loot at Kags for example he had 13 and 8 in 1 season.
Now he is playing for liverpool which is not a very good attacking team. They won 5-2 last week but he only took 1 shot(which he happened to score with) I think he is very much in the Modrich role.
better options in that price- Gervinho, Fellaini, Michu, Nolan, Ramirez.

I'd say Liverpool will be a good attacking team this season. Nolan is a good option though unfortunately his upcoming fixtures are dreadful. Ramirez looks quality but I don't trust Southampton.

Based on what do you think Liverpool will be good at attacking? They basically have only 1 striker(who has a questionable converting rate) and the only mid who is a goalscorer is Gerrard. If you remember Swansea(rodgers old team) last season than their main problem was scoring.

Tactically though, he isn't playing the 'Modric role' - he played in front of Gerrard and Allen vs. Norwich. If he continues there he is definitely one to watch in his bracket.

But agree - I won't be taking the punt just yet.

He's in a bit of a funny price bracket for me. It's early days yet, so perhaps he'll establish himself as a decent option, but there are proven players around that mark or cheaper... and he's also not historically been a goal-scoring midfielder.

You've got Walters when Stoke's fixtures turn in a couple of weeks, and then obviously the Everton boys around him. Ramirez looks a better shout for cheaper with great fixtures and looking to be more attacking (although admittedly he's not proven either) Sunderland options look alright.

Punt too far for me at this point.

Oh sorry, I was gonna post on yours then thought otherwise. I don't rate your captain choice, dont think tevez will do amazingly even though I have him Sunderland have been looking like a good unit this season. Newcastle's defence seems a bit shattered so RVP is a better option. You have problems with your defence but I think CS's will be scarce again this week. I would look into Changing Williams if I was you though.... Maybe for... Caulker or a Spurs player?

Haha! No worries. Interesting 2 options from you and Ginola. I could look at a spurs defender. I'll keep that one in the pot and see if Laudrup gives any news before the deadline. See what you mean about RVP as well but wouldn't be surprised if Pards fields the full strength back 4, likes to play games on the odd occasion! Tough one to call, maybe I'll go Crouch! 😉

I think the team looks good and would be tempted to save the transfer. Might think about Morrison to Michu if you have the money (or indeed Bale, but doubt you have the money for that). But it is a team that could score.

      Hi guys,

I’m not THAT confident in my team this week and in the short to medium term so would be grateful for your thoughts:

      Foster / (Begovich)

      Baines / Rangel / Clyne / (Demel) / (Cuellar)

      HBA / Pienaar / Hazard (vc) / Bale (c) / Guthrie

      RVP / Lambert / Jelavic

0 FT and £1.3m in the Bank.

Shall I transfer do Gervinho —-> Pienaar for a 4pt hit?

I’m worried at having triple Everton coverage and I really want to get Forehead in as I think the Arse have good fixtures and he offers better value than Caz at the moment.

I could save the transfer but I want to go Hazard —-> Silva next week!

That must have been massively annoying.
I was winning one of my mini leagues a few years ago from sept to the end of the season. A friend chose Alfonso Alves as captain for the final game of the season. It happened to be on a day when the played Man City, there was uproar with the old owners etc and the players rebelled. Alves scored 4 goals and I finished 2nd... bad times 🙁

Ouch, with 2 frees? Thats a tough one but if Berba is confirmed out then possibly switch him to another option like Lambert? Or actually, Nelson to Davis from Swansea? Just use 1 this week

      Defence is:
      Jenkinson, Baines, Boyce, Demel, (Rangel)

      Should I:
A: make a transfer (Rangel > Hughes banking 0.6m) or
B: save the transfer so I have 2 for International break

Both will be the main point scorers in there team, even last week when Ramirez outshone Lambert stats wise Lambert was still pulling the strings around the box, could have easily grabbed 2 assists if he werent let down. Prefer both Berba and Lambert to Fletcher personally.

Berb is unlikely to start and say 10% chance of playing at all. Ridgewell and McAuley are slight doubts and Coloccini and S.Taylor are out, Williams of swansea also a doubt.

With both CB's out MUN and RVP wont get a better chance against NEW.
