The ScoutCast – Episode Eighty Five – Kolarluv

Aleks Kolarov is a legend around these parts. Two seasons ago I backed the Serbian to shine, only to be left eggy faced as he City man huffed and puffed without impact. Now he’s back and this time it’s personal.

Having crashed the party with a 20-point haul in his last Etihad encounter, Kolarov is being lined up for a start this weekend and even Granville’s taking notice. Having ridiculed my affections for the player and gloried in his failings, the Mancunian has got himself a crush and he’s struggling to fight it off.

This week’s ScoutCast features a lot of Kolarlove, along with the supporting cast of regulars as Granville steals a mini-league march and starts to sound cocky.

Listen in on the Serbian swooning via this link, or stream the episode via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

morning lads. So I'm looking at Davies and Ramirez to Wilson and Lennon this week. Leaves me with

    Migs

    Baines, Rafa, Wilson

    Kebe, Michu, Caz, Lennon

    Berba, Jelavic, RvP (c)

    Foster, Johnson, Hangeland, Clyne

    How does it look

Looks good on paper, but I think Lennon could frustrate you in the long run, plus his fixtures are terrible from GW11

The holy grail of this first part of the season seems to be

          - WBA defender/Foster
          - Stoke defender/Begovic
          - West Ham cheapie defender/Jussi.

Be sure to have all those three combined in your back line.

Personally i feel more confident captaining a striker, not sure why haha

I've had Bale since the start and he has had a few quiet games, the whole baby thing makes me think most people with Bale are going to captain him, so Ba could be good differential?

I can't believe I'm still thinking about a 4pt hit for Sagna this week...

My other options are Rangel, Gunter & Clyne, and I see 0pts at best from all of those players, so I think I am willing to take the risk this week on him starting because I see him making up those points in the next 4 weeks easily... if not this week alone...

    Thoughts?

Haha. I wouldn't take that personally - Sagna still not guaranteed a start imo. Likely, but by no means guaranted.

Fulham are very unpredictable at home so Gunter may even surprise you! I'd start him and then look to get a fully match fit Sagna in GW11

Gunter hasn't played since GW5, I think he's playing Cummings at RB now... 🙁

Rangel and Clyne will both concede more than 2, so I'm left with Clyne as my only option... but I would rather take a hit to get Wilson than wait for Clyne's 1 pointer...

But of course, maybe the universe will reward my patience with a Clyne goal...

                Yeah, likely...

Ah, I didn't realise Gunter was out the frame...

Hmmm. Tricky, but I still wouldn't want to take a hit for Sagna I don't think. Even if Clyne gets a 1 pointer, Sagna would have to get a cleanie to make it worthwhile, and we look far from water tight right now.

will start baines kolorov and sagna if i get him. might go four in the back with saylor anyways.and don't really see any transfers i wanna do this week anyways. what do you think?

You might be tempted to play 4 at the back every week...

Yeah, if you are sure that you have no other transfers you need to make then that makes sense to me... Sagna is definitely first choice when fit, and I just have a sneaky feeling he'll come back with a bang...

😀 that was the plan! point is for rotation so got a strong team all around so i can play for fixtures and can handle injuries and suspensions. like it'd be no problem for me to have gibbs and pienaar on the bench this week. and it allows me to have a risky player or two like kolorov.

all affordable because i don't have any manchester forwards cuz for the time being i'm happy to avoid their rotation nightmare. and i don't think rvp is worth the money

yeahh there are several weeks i will be. all depends on the fixtures though. like i'll be benching rafa for chelsea this week. though i have a bad feeling it'll end up being 1-0 with a goal or assist from him though... ah well

well the only player i'd consider shipping atm is lambert but think i'll give him another week or two at least. gotcha. thanks mate! i may just have to go for that then. i hope you're right!

I can do Fletcher for Rooney

if you have fletcher i'd ship him away before lambert! and honestly i'd get defoe for the next two games if i were you. i'd get him myself for the next two games but that'd require a hit to free up a bit of extra funds to get him in for lambert...

          so try this

          this week: fletcher to defoe
          next week: lambert to rooney
          week after: defoe to ba

Kindly check the team which is linked.

I am done with this week. I shipped Mata for Bale and dont want to take a hit.

Lamb too has nice fixtures WBA, SWA, QPR, NC, NOR.

or I dont do anything and keep both Lamb and Fletcher intact with Ba as 3rd striker

i'd switch fletcher though. i didn't see the game but apparently had like no chances this weekend even when they were up a player. doesn't seem inspiring to me. i'd ship for defoe as he has great fixtures the next two weeks and could even be worth keeping longer than that. or go for roon

Lets see how both the strikers perform this GW and then decide.

Dont have Michu, Bale and Haz ( mos of teams having them) in Midfield could back fire or if they dont score it could be a differential so keeping fingers crossed.

I'd save for this week. It's not 100% he'll start anyway.

To be honest if you already own Gibbs it might just be worth sticking with him and using transfers elsewhere

Who knows after this week, different issues might have arisen and you might be glad of the extra tranny

if michu is playing up front you surely should keep him. quality player and i'm guessing you'll lose a decent amount by selling him. just think if he's nailed on up front for 90 minutes he's great value

I wouldn't get too hung up on keeping Michu myself - his fixtures are awful, and he hasn't really done much in the tougher fixtures so far. Yes, he'll get the odd goal, but I suspect for this period of fixtures there will be better out there.

Yeah, that's my train of thought. I'd lose 0.4m if I sold him and then rebought, however a few blanks in the next 4-6 weeks (which I think are more than possible) may see his price come back down anyway.

Any thoughts on my proposed moves above?

I'm not sure - he started the last 2 though. I guess I think he's value - playing in the hole, on pens, great stats and now has great fixtures.

I fancy Stoke to score in this one, but I see where you're coming from...

Rafael has the most attacking output of those so he has to play... it was a close choice between Cuellar and Hangeland, but having slightly less faith in Reading's attack I chose Cuellar...

Spurs under AVB are going to frustrate everyone, TW. Expect weird substitutions, formations, team selections, strategies to baffle us time and time again. Not willing to ride the roller-coaster once again.

Doing alright, TW. How's college prep cmn along? I still come around in non-DZ hours but it moves too quickly, so I just end up lurking around..

yeah i guess.... though i still think they're worth the risk. don't think they'll frustrate us as much as chelsea did last year.

that's good to hear. how's the new job? its coming along alright. in a last minute scramble to finish these essays + applications for nov 1. then ive got a supplement to do for the 15th and then more applications for the 30th and the 1st... pretty much taking over my life in addition to school work and playing soccer. oh and here when i have time but that's becoming increasingly minimized the last week or so and it'll only get worse

ahh i gotcha. i hate when the pages move so quickly! incredibly frustrating. i much prefer the DZ

Now that Demel is out should I:

    A) Play Clyne
    B) Take a hit and bring in Wilson

Considering the long-term, Wilson could be worth a hit (only if your fifth defender hasn't got CS potential this week)

It's either play Clyne/Nelson or take the hit. 🙁

I think a hit could be justified as Stoke have a great run of fixtures but I just hate taming hits. Clyne consolation goal maybe? 🙂

Think it's worth it. Don't trust West Ham to keep up their good defensive work anyways. Get Demel out!

Soton are known to improve at the back in the latter of the season. Maybe then, you could start Clyne without any hesitation.

TW. To get Defoe, i need to take a hit for Gibbs to santon to afford it. I think it will work out over the next few weeks. What do you reckon?

hmmm. thinking it could be worth it. especially with gibbs out. gibbs to sagna is another possibility though (which i'm strongly considering).

depends on if santon fits your rotation or not. and also you would be removing one attacking defender and taking a hit which are both downsides but defoe could be a great buy for these two weeks.

Ah cool causeI just did that move.

Until I realized that Perch will likely to start on midf since Tiote is out for 3 games. So it's a CS and scoring potential (although the later is very unlikely)..
I'll just pray Anite plays ahead of him. Or even if he plays, he doesn't do anything good. 😛

Zep, if you don't get him this week, will you get him next week? (Utd vs Ars)
If you are going to get him next week anyway, just get it over with. If he does start tomorrow, i personally, am expecting atleast 6 points. Plus, allow yourself a little bit of fun. I did the move too, though it does not make an incredible amount of sense, but what the hell.

I like the point about having fun... I can't remember the last time I made an exciting move...

If I don't get him this week, then I would probably wait until GW11...

If I knew he was starting it would already be done... I would hate to waste 4pts on him, only to have to play Clyne anyway... 🙁
