Monitor – Hatem Ben Arfa

A series of eye-catching performances in the last few months of the previous campaign had Fantasy managers queuing up to acquire the services of Hatem Ben Arfa. Having struggled to convince Alan Pardew of a regular role in the Newcastle starting XI, the Frenchman finally flourished on Tyneside as Newcastle moved to 4-3-3 but while a shift back to 4-4-2 has benefitted Demba Ba this season, Ben Arfa hasn’t quite delivered.

The opening three Gameweeks had looked promising. Notching in each of his first two home matches, Ben Arfa seemed set to rack up the points but since grabbing his side’s only goal in the Gameweek 3 draw with Villa, his Fantasy owners have been served up nothing more than a solitary assist.

              Yurt. Reasoning really is that I won't necessarily play all three depending on the fixture and what I reckon the probability of a cleanie is, 3 if it's nearly certain, 2 if quite likely. Plus not many defenders giving a lot of points from cleanies this season, mostly from attacking returns but they're very expensive. So go cheap, get a couple of cleanies and beef the rest of the team up.

            I'd consider swapping Wilkinson for someone else personally. You're going to be playing Bego most weeks so I'd spread the risk. Maybe get Gorkss or Turner (Norwich) Just a suggestion...

              See I'm quite alright with three as of now however I had taken the risk into account. My plan is that, in a week or two, if I'm feeling uneasy then it'll be a straight swap with Wilkinson going to Demel once he is back fit.

    Ben Arfa never really scored much at Lyon or Marseille - good form last season in the spring but a wildly inconsistent FPL option for around 8M - spend 1M and get a stud or spend 2M-3M less and get someone just as inconsistent and save the cash.

    Who to play?
    Sterling at home vs Newc or Lambert away at WBA? I am leaning towards Sterling as he is basically playing up front these days and I fancy them to score a couple. Lambert is not in the best of form, a bench worry away from home and WBA fairly strong at home…but he is on pens/some freekicks and always a goal threat when on the pitch. Any advice appreciated.

            Lambert could score, WBA have been leaky. Morrison has quite a good chance of being back in the hole. Ba should play I think. Kolarov might even play 😀 So you could be okay.
