The ScoutCast – Episode Eighty Six – Ghost Ship

Ghost Ship – a Fantasy Football team picked for the first Gameweek and then left to drift without a crew or rudder for the rest of the season. It would stand to reason that such a vessel would hit the rocks and sink without trace. Sometimes, however, they can navigate an unlikely route to glory.

Tell us about. This latest episode is a timely one given the time of year and it’s a “Ghost Ship” lineup, “managed” by the most unlikely member of the team to be up amongst the top ranks that takes up a good proportion of our time, leaving Granville and myself pondering the meaning of it all.

Around all that, we both manage to find the motivation to bring you the regular topics with the concept of “chasing points” coming under discussion, alongside “all aboard”, the weekend preview and a long tale of Granville’s injury list. Ouch.

    Reconsidering my team due to Granville's mullings about his goalkeepers (same as mine)

    Thinking of doing Vorm > Julio Cesar and sorting out the keeper situation, I, like Granville want both keepers rotating and free up a slight bit of cash as well
    then next week Walker > probably Rafael

      I personally wouldn't spend 5 million on a QPR keeper. I would consider Krul. Only .3 more for a much better team.

          I was thinking about the rotation as well. Newcastle don't rotate perfectly it's true, but neither do QPR Stoke's one hard fixture over the next 10 weeks is @ Tottenham in week 18. Newcastle have QPR at home that week.

    I know we have all been singing is praises but tbh I don't see him scoring decent points, despite him being up front oop etc. hence the more explosive Lennon...seems sensible to me!

      Michu can score a lot goals while Lennon. But yeah Michu has bad fixtures.
      Mata is better than Hazard. But if this is a hit better don't do it first and wait for another fixture.

    DGW placement for Sunderland is less than impressive... sandwiched in between CHE and mun...

    The only positive seems to be that it brings to an end, a pretty decent run of fixtures for Sunderland...

    From GW13, (WBA QPR nor CHE RDG)... looks like a Sunderland defender and perhaps Fletcher could be profitable for that run...

      I can see the logic, so I wouldn't say that its madness. But personally, I'm keeping the faith in Cazorla. Arsenal have nice fixtures coming up and I think that he (Cazorla) has more up-side than Pienaar.

      Guthrie -> Taarabt is a bit of a nothing move. Looking at your other 7 front players you're not likely to ever start either of them.

      Your defence looks manageable as it is.

        It's tricky with Cazorla - not expecting much this w/e, and then it's 2 tricky home derbies followed by 2 away games. I guess I'm just not convinced his next 5 are actually that easy. GW15-21 looks THE prime time to get him in imo. I'm also toying with the idea of getting Walcott instead, if he gets the starts he should be getting. Cheaper and will probably score more.

        I think I'd bench Pienaar this week if I made the trade, and it would be nice to have at least one reasonable bench option each week...

          Fair enough. I'm much more optomistic about Cazorla's prospects over the next five games and, like you say, it only gets better after that.

          I agree that Walcott is an interesting prospect - but its too early to make that move yet.
