FFS Paddy Power Cup VII – Entry Reminder

Just a reminder that this weekend’s fixtures provide the qualifying round for our seventh FFS Paddy Power Cup. The tournament is free to enter and there are prizes for top three teams, plus the Quarter Finalists will qualify for our first Fantasy Football Scout Shield later in the season.

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Haven't done this for a while, but i'm wildcarding, so please be cool and RMT 🙂

    Begovic - McCarthy
    Baines - Sagna - Simpson - Nelsen - Gorkss
    Bale - Mata - Pineaar - Morrison - Sterling
    RVP - Tevez - Defoe

*0.5 in the bank for Defoe ->Ba next GW (that's why i'm keeping/benching Mata)

Id ponder gain on Morrison but you may not have enough cash to improve it. You might also want to look at other options to Defoe now Ade is back. I saw him at Saints and he was poor.

    Begovic
    Cuellar, Baines, Simpson
    Pienaar, Mata, Bale, Sterling
    RVP, Ba, Fletcher

    Schwarzer, Nolan, Demel, Wilson

Could i get away with saving my free transfer?

    1) Mata > Bale
    2) Keep Mata and play Pienaar or Nelsen this GW.
    3) Mata > ?? (Someone else)

    Foster (Bego)

    Caulker – Cameron – McAuley – (Nelsen) – (Demel)

    Dempsey – Michu – Sterling – Mata – (Pienaar)

I was considering him earlier, but losing to Mata on 9/10 key stats and virtually all his shots coming from outside the box plus less time played puts me well off.

He's started 5 straight league games, scored 1 goal in every 3 games for Internacional and 1 goal in every 3 games for his national team, and if Mata's hamstring complaint is more serious than expected, he's guaranteed a starting and more creative role for the next few weeks. At 7.8M he's a superb buy if you DON'T own Mata OR Hazard. The problem is, most people do own one or the other of those.

I know you like extrapolations from his time at other clubs, and I've bigged him up myself before seeing his role in the Chelsea system, but there's significant uncertainty about how long Mata is out (if at all) and how much Oscar would benefit.

I think you are being a little too certain. Extrapolation isn't the only criterion, let alone the strongest.

    Here's the front eight:

    Bale - Michu - Nolan - Mata - Sterling

    RVP - Tevez - Berbatov

Who should I bench? Ultimately it won't matter if Mata doesn't play but still....

    Thinking Sterling.

    Cuellar (75%) , Baines, Nelsen
    Michu, Hazard, Carzola, Maloney
    Aguero, Tevez, Ba (50%)

Guthrie (0%), Demel (0%), Jenkinson (unlikely to play)

Ive already used y FT to take out Richards and now in a quandry whether i should take a -4 hit in the case that Ba doesnt play.

If i make a transfer it will most likely be for a defender in which case i will probably only get 2 pts. This means that ill be worse off with -2 effectively than if i risk Ba. On the otherhand, if Cuellar or anyone else is out, i will effectively lose 4 points...

Is it worth taking a hit? If so im thinking Cameron or Baird for Jenkinson. Thoughts?

i suppose if u get baird you would be spending four points on a midfielder.

would you consider taking out Guthrie - as if Ba doesnt make it you have plenty of money to get a decent midfielder

I am offering a service to anyone who wishes to take it, if people do not they do not have to. But as well as simply giving my choice or answer to a question, I explain my reason stating both the pros and cons of the situation. I will also GUARANTEE to write a decent sized paragraph instead of only a few words. If you wish to see evidence of my detailed opinions then just visit "The ScoutCast - Episode Eighty Six" my comment if currently the lasty one on the last page of comments.

Wild-carding this week, would I be utterly mental having a defence as dire as this:

    Begovic/ Tremmel
    Nelson/ Gorkss/ Baird/ Baines/ Clyne

Admittedly the rest of the team of the team is considerably better, just worried about being so defensively week.

    Rest is

    Hazard/ Bale/ Michu/ Pienaar/ Sterling
    RVP/ Berbatov/ Tevez

    Thoughts?

Above midfield will always give you a tough decision for who to bench... I'd downgrade Michu/Pienaar --> Ramirez if fit personally and upgrade a defender (maybe to Shawcross).

Not a WBA fan but think I read that he should be back this week.

If he's fit, he'll start as he's a key player for them, see Ben Foster's comments on competition for places.

That allows Morrison to return to the role in the hole and shifts Gera either onto the wing or the bench.
