Mata Concern for Chelsea

Roberto Di Matteo has left Fantasy managers sweating ahead of Chelsea’s game with Swansea tomorrow after admitting Juan Mata is “very doubtful” to make the Liberty trip. The Spaniard played the full 120 minutes of his side’s 5-4 extra time Capital One Cup win over United on Wednesday evening but may be set to miss out this weekend.

With a stunning free-kick against United in the Premier League on Sunday, Mata has now returned 54 points in his past five appearances. A series of sensational displays have seen him transferred in by over 98,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers this week and with over 140,000 picking him up prior to last week’s match with United, his price has now risen by 0.5 since the end of Gameweek 8.

Bearing in mind Di Matteo’s side have a crucial Champions League game with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, Mata’s owners will be a little apprehensive as the Blues boss looks to keep his key men fit for the midweek Stamford Bridge showdown. Undoubtedly, it’s a real boost for those who chose to hold onto Eden Hazard in spite of Mata’s rising price – the Belgian played just 65 minutes against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side and will surely be more crucial than ever, if Mata does indeed fail to make it.

I’m racking my brain as to what to do for my two FTs…

Foster (McCarthy)
Ivanovic – Saylor – Williams (McCartney, Clyne)
Michu – Dempsey – Fellaini – Hazard – Nolan
RVP – Tevez (Long)

I’m thinking that even though I would love to make a change or two to my midfield, I need to address my defense.
Saylor > Cameron and Williams > Baird make sense? Trying to free up cash but still get defenders that will play.

Got 2fts, 0.0m in the bank, was all set to go:

Wilson —> Cameron
Dyer —–> Sterling/Taarabt

Seems kind of stupid now to use one of the transfers on a fit player (Dyer) when I’ve also got Cuellar, Demel, Mata and Ba injured.

Question is, what to do instead? Demel or Cuellar ——> to a fit, playing defender and at least get 11 men out? Don’t want to shift Mata or Ba, even if they miss this week.
