Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Quiet

With no red cards shown in the fixtures this week, we’d a sparse looking inbox in terms of suspensions, but never fear – there are still some tidbits to throw your way, as the tightrope continues to creak under a heavy load.

Easing that load on Saturday, and perhaps the highest profile of those newly banned for next weekend, Chris Baird is the first to take our interest. Booked for protesting the injury time penalty award for Arsenal at the Emirates, the Northern Irishman had his pain immediately eased by the outstanding glovework of his goalkeeper but a ban still follows; he’ll be absent for the visit of Sunderland next Sunday, with Mahamadou Diarra the obvious replacement should he regain his fitness.

Also doing their bit to free up space on the sidebar widget were Stoke City’s Dean Whitehead and Sunderland’s Craig Gardner, both falling foul of the referee for the fifth time this season in their respective second halves against QPR and Everton. While Gardner will now accompany Baird in the stands at Craven Cottage, Whitehead will be missing a tricky trip to the Boleyn Ground, as the Potters face an in-form West Ham.

Replacing those three unbalanced folk up on the high wire this week we have a former Galactico in the shape of Esteban Granero, and a man capped by France at every age group level (though with the notable exception of the seniors) in Morgan Schneiderlin. Grabbing Southampton’s goal in a 1-1 draw with Swansea which lifted his side off the foot of the table, Schneiderlin also picked up his fourth yellow for unsporting behaviour. The Saints were replaced at the bottom by the QPR side of ‘El Pirata’ Granero, who picked up his censure in the final throws of their latest defeat.

Finally in our round up, it’s the old timers, with Cheick Tioté completing his three-match ban this week to be available for the Gameweek 12 shakeup; he waved goodbye to teammate Fabricio Coloccini who will sit out his second game of three, and QPR’s Stéphane M’Bia serving the last of his trio of enforced absences.

I dumped Cazorla. I don't feel great about it with the suspension looming but I think it is probably smart in the long term, especially if Cazorla continues to give set pieces to Walcott and play as deep as he did against Fulham.

Wouldn't it be cool if all these players pulling out of friendlies with phantom injuries was part of a coordinated protest action by clum managers? Finally fed up with pointless firendlies in the middle of high-stakes top-flight seasons they decided that one by one they would declare all of their players injured until none of the (important) matches can be played. That would be sweet. *sigh*

sorry for re-post but caught at the end of last article:

Evening gents. Am hovering over the WC button with what I think is a beautiful team but not sure if to pull the trigger. Would be happy to get the advice of some of the sages on here:

    Foster Tremmel
    Baines Caulker Cuellar McCart Nelsen/Clyne
    Bale Mata Felliani Sterling Maloney
    RVP Berba Suarez

This is basically 8 transfers away from the team I have now, so definitely not do-able without a WC. I wouldnt say I'm unhappy with team I have now, but I just seem to be treading water around the 100k mark and want to kick on

What ya reckon: WC- Yay or Nay?

Morrison (CHE) // Pienaar (rdg) // Hazard (wba) // Cazorla (TOT)
Ba (SWA) // Suarez (WIG) // RVP (nor)

Bench: Cerby // Noble // Williams // Clyne

Well, originally I thought "no" - but the team had more resilience than I gave it credit for. So now I am not so sure. Guzman is certainly showing well - but I am not sure he and Michu get on ...

Successful crosses, number of passes etc I guess. I thought that he had a very good game. Don't think it's the first time that he's had BPs without assists, a goal or a CS. All part of the territory if you're the best defender in the league.

That what I'm predicting tbh. I might sound crazy for saying this but I'm seriously considering taking them both out for Silva and Maloney, and then doing Tevez >> RVP to catch the rise. 8pt hit though... Long term it looks prosperous!

    Beg
    Baines, Rafa, Demel
    Mata, Michu, Nolan, Bale
    RVP, Jelly, Ba
    (Foster, Cameron, Puncheon, Clyne)
    1FT 0.3 in the bank

So, lots of rises going on. Want Feillani but can't afford to get him in for Michu. Also already missed his .2 rise. Considering Jelly – Berb. Like Jelly's chances, but Berb's the main man at Fulham, is rising and great value at the moment. So basically,
    A. Jelly -> Berb (Get in Feillani or Suarez next week depending yellows)
    B. Michu and Jelly -> Fellaini and Berb for a Hit
    C. Save the FT, deal with this next week and miss the rises

    Mata Fellaini Hazard Bale (Nolan)

    Suarez Berbs Ba

    Hi FFSers,

    Trying to decide what to do with one of both of my 2FT. This is my team;

    Begovic, Jaask
    Baines, Boyce, Rafael, McCartney, Gorkss
    Cazorla, Mata, Morrison, Michu, Sterling
    RvP, Fletcher, Tevez
    0.3 in the bank

If I have to lose somebody for the sake of using a TF, I'd probably go Boyce for perhaps Cuellar. Berbatov is obviously appealing but his fixtures are getting tougher, the weather is getting worse and I've stuck with Fletcher so long I feel like I need to see him through his better fixtures and DGW (16). Fellaini is another one I'd really like.

    Any more creative thoughts?

So after leaving Berba on the bench this last week (I know), and having HBA and Caz let me down, I'm feeling an itchy trigger finger.

    Team:

    Begovic (Cerny)
    Baines, Ivanovic, Demel, Gorkss, Clyne
    HBA, Mata, Cazorla, Fellaini, Michu
    Tevez, Berba, Ba

1FT, £1.3M in the bank, 0.1 short of straight HBA-Silva swap. Worth downgrading Michu to do so, for a 4 pt hit? Feel like I need to make a gamble.

So nice to see a team on here without 'he who scores when he wants'!

I wouldn't buy Michu at the moment, even with his advanced role, but I'd hold him if I had him. HBA def needs dumping IMO.

You could keep Michu and go for Morrison instead of HBA.
