Moneyball – Esteban Granero

This is very likely the first and last time a former Real Madrid player graces the pages of the Moneyball series. Esteban Granero made an astonishing 31 appearances in the league in 2009-10 for Los Blancos, more than Guti, Rafael van der Vaart, Kaka and even Cristiano Ronaldo. The arrivals of Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil pushed Granero out of favour in future years, though he still managed to finish his time in Madrid with almost 100 appearances in three seasons before making his way to Loftus Road this season.

Despite that pedigree, his arrival in England barely registered on the transfer radar and he’s hardly captured the collective eye of Fantasy managers – Granero has just a 0.5% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League game, which has risen by just 10,000 or so transfers all year. Given that this is a Moneyball piece, though, we’re not going to settle on a player based on his CV: it’s when we delve into his statistics so far this term that Granero really catches the eye.

  Spoilt for choice really. Perhaps Nolan or Sterling on the bench but it's really difficult to call. If I had to choose I'd go Sterling on the bench, Wigan have got both of their clean sheets on the road, and Liverpool find it hard to score at Anfield.

    @ Bedok page 1 earlier : I pride myself on decent posts and banter on here , I always try to be informed and accurate. Its a forum for fantasy football and IMO soccer is the topic.
    We all have different opinions and we all all entitled to them no matter how digress , if you see questions/posts you don't like - then don't reply.
    You don't have to come across as pompus , free speech is mandatory on here once one doesnt cross the line and shouldnt be interfered with . IMO your being petty and argumentitave for the sake of creating drama.
    I respect your current Rank and your previous rankings - but just because your well informed on matters Fpl , it doesn't give you the right to fravously castigate others needlessly.

I rate Ba highly but 3 of their next 5 are tricky games where sunderland have nice fixtures and a DGW.

Am I mad for having the feeling that Stoke are a team setup perfectly to deal with West Ham's attack? Carroll's height won'd be as much of a problem and they always keep their 2 central MF pretty deep to coap with Nolan. Might stick with my 2 Stoke defenders.

    Steven Taylor...was going to bin him but Newcastle have some strong fixtures in the short term.
    
    I know what you mean about Clyne but if you check him on the comparison tool he has really strong attacking stats and I do think Southampton will, to one degree or another, improve. I will just use him sparingly although the Saints do have decent fixtures (much better than WHU or Norwich match up's) in the next 10 GWs or so.

      Don't think that's strictly true. He's also on penalties (probably) and most set pieces.
