The Stock Check

The Stock Check – Saturday – Part Two

Anthony Pilkington earns the points for Norwich with a superb headed effort extending his side’s unbeaten run to five. Robin Van Persie fails to score or assist for the first time as a starter for United, with the Canaries resilient defence proving too good for the most prolific attack in the Premier League:

Going Up

Norwich Defence
The Canaries came into this evening’s game having conceded a single goal in their previous four Gameweeks but the visit of United was considered a real test of their resolve. A 1-0 win continued their upturn in resilience as Chris Hughton’s influence starts to have a real effect – they now have five clean sheets this term, three more than this evening’s beaten opponents.

Anthony Pilkington
His first goal of the campaign was enough to produce the points for the hosts. Norwich have not tasted defeat since a 4-1 battering at Chelsea in Gameweek 7 and while they may not score many – netting more than once on a single occasion so far – Hughton’s side concede even less; the opposite of last season’s form under former boss Paul Lambert.

Going Down

United Defence
David De Gea was given the day off after a trip to the dentist caused problems but Anders Lindegaard could do little about Pilkington’s excellent headed winner. United have now conceded first in eight of their 12 matches and for once, their attack was unable to bail them out.

United Attack
Tonsillitis kept Wayne Rooney out of the reckoning and with Javier Hernandez selected to start, Robin Van Persie dropped a little deeper. Having racked up 29 goals in the previous 10, with at least two goals per game over that run, the visitors were snuffed out for the first time since Gameweek 1. Three favourable fixtures in the next four look set to offer Van Persie a chance to rectify tonight’s blip – this was the first time he has failed to produce a goal or assist when starting a league game for United.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

He's not certain to play at the moment due to injuries, he should be back in the team when he's fit though, and with a bit of a goal scoring threat would probably be worth getting over Cuellar then. Hold off 'til confirmed fitness though.

These two past weeks are a great reminder of why I am retiring from this silly / pointless game at the end of the season. Can mess up your entire week, and makes you watch football like a complete and utter retard. One last hit of the bong (or crack pipe) and I'm out. Gotta find another hobby, or addiction? This is my happy mood by the way, I did well this week.

taylor to huges/cameron or a 4.5 defender of your choice and then save the other FT for after next week (baines vs norwich could bring points) - then do baines to enrique and upgrade fellaini to a 9.something midfielder (mata/silva?)

        Bale - incosistent
Mata - point sharing with Haz and Oscar
        Silva - won't score goals.

What does "not explosive enough" actually mean?

Silva (for example) wasnt what anyone could consider explosive last season, he was consistent.
Thats the point for me. Having Silva for 22/23 GW''s last yr was 9 odd mill tucked away bringing in the bread while you looked and chopped and changed and had headaches elsewhere....

Silva (and Caz this season) will be consistent and thats usually enough for me.
This explosive thing seems like crap really

I told someone to do Hazard -> Theo

I told someone else if they were going to Kun -> Saurez they should captain Saurez, and that I wouldnt transfer Kun but would captain him if i had him

I said Silva was a bargain at 9.3 and I took a hit to get him in, others should do the same

I would have liked to have been told that I shouldve captained Saurez or Silva instead of RVP

Will Silva rise 0.2 or more this week?

I'd like to bring him in but is there any point away to Chelsea?

Well United scored 3 there (altho 2 men sent off)

The way Chelsea are defending and City's first choice front line being restored (Nasri, Silva, Tevez, Aguero) I dont think it really matters who they play, Silva will create chances.

    Vorm (Bego)
    Baines - Rafael - Nelsen - Clyne - Ridgewell
    Mata - Fellaini - Michu - Sterling - Guthrie
    RVP - Tevez - Berba

In need of a change or can it be fixed with a -4pt hit? Ta

    Ruddy Jussi
    Wisdom Davies Rafael Cameron McAuley
Sterling Bale Michu Fellaini Walcott (or Silva)
    RVP Berbs Suarez

    Sound?
