Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Casualty

As you’ll have seen in Sunday’s Scout Notes, Fantasy favourite Marouane Fellaini was the big casualty of accrued yellows this week. A booking in the 2-1 loss at Reading tipped the Belgian over the five-card line and into the ban list for Gameweek 13 – the pileous purveyor of Fantasy points will now miss the visit of a buoyant Norwich and hand his 36.9% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners a midfield conundrum this weekend.

Elsewhere on the tightrope, we saw a couple of new faces arrive, with Wigan captain Gary Caldwell the first to fill the void left by the aforementioned Belgian, as his fourth yellow of the season added him to an ever-growing list, while in Sunday’s game at Craven Cottage, the only player with three cautions to his name – Steve Sidwell duly delivered another indiscretion and will receive his tightrope invitation in the Monday morning mail.

On to Monday night and a plethora of players blink wildly on the tightrope office radar system, as West Ham host Stoke in a game that could justify a couple of extra paragraphs should the cards fall a certain way. On the home side, we already have the defensive pairing of James Collins and Winston Reid primed on four bookings, just one slip from a week off, while midfielder Mark Noble sits one away from tightrope notoriety on three. The visitors see a trio of protagonists alongside Noble on three bookings, with Charlie Adam, Ryan Shawcross and Andy Wilkinson also ready to climb aboard.

Welcoming Fellaini into suspension land (no doubt to compare grooming tips), we still have Fabricio Coloccini sitting out the third match of his ban in Gameweek 13. The Newcastle skipper will be followed swiftly through the door by the sheepish pair of Tottenham’s Togolese striker, Emmanuel Adebayor and Fulham’s Texas-born Norwegian, Brede Hangeland, after their game-changing straight red cards bring three game bans that will stretch well into December.

okay, Keep Ben Arfa or sell.

Pardew earlier said he's planning to revert to 433 which could mean that Ben will be more involved in the game..becomes an interesting choice again..so, should I still keep him ?
    Or
Just sell him for a stoke or a Sunderland mid?

Stoke or Sunderland mid? I don't think so. I'd want to see Sunderland attacking against 11 men before I jump the gun. Stoke mid is just going to frustrate you.

I would keep for one week due to the rule: Never sell an attacker before a game against Southampton. If he does well and they're in a 4-3-3, he could be a great option.

I don't mind a shift back to 433 as long as Ba is the spearhead. HBA has been very good these past few fixtures; a 433 will only do him good.

Is RVP really the greatest captain choice? The below list is my captains so far showing my realiance on Robin. As you can see, I have been hopeless with the armband this year:

    Captains:
    Mata (wig, RDG) - 5pts
    RVP (FUL) - 9pts
    Tevez (QPR) - 15pts
    RVP (WIG) - 1pt
    Hazard (STK)- 3pts
    RVP(TOT) - 5pts
    RVP(new) - 4pts
    RVP (STK) - 11pts
    Aguero (SWA) - 2pts
    Bale (WIG) - 2pts
    RVP (avl) - 5pts
    RVP (nor) - 2pts

Maybe not week in, week out, but more often than not. He's the player, more than any other, who can destroy you if you don't captain him, and he's very consistent (with the odd anomaly, like this week).

For the next few he is certainly the best option, the mantle could then be passed to Suarez Aguero when their fixtures improve and Uniteds dip. But for me that is why we pay the money for Robin, it's a safety blanket he is more likely to get points than not, Norwich was a blip.

You missed out when RvP played away vs Chelsea and home to Arsenal. He's a fixture proof player who can give you a hattrick any given gameweek. He will also frustrate, but he always gets 2+ good chances a game. Bad luck last few games will change. 5 this weekend? 🙂

Thank you both for the input on Punchy. Will make the switch. Not entirely convinced by Bale. He has been so variable in form this season, captaining him sees risky against a tight West Ham.

Norwich have scored 1 goal each in three away matches and 0 in each of the three other.
QPR have scored 1-1-2-0-0 from August until now in their away matches.

It is time both United and Everton keep a clean sheet again. (You could argue it is time Bale scores double digits again too. :P)

    Crazy thoughts?

    Berbatov > Fletcher
I don't believe in this season keeper thing, I'm more a fixtures man and they don't get much better than Fletchers, would also be Captain GW16 when RVP has City, switch back after then but will lose value on Berbs.

Walcott over Mata until after blank
Although I have Cazorla and no Chelsea I also have Ramirez missing GW17 whilst Walcott has rdg, would then swap one of the gunners to Mata afterwards. Or am I better getting Mata for the long term at the expense of a weakened X1 gw17?

    For those switching to fletcher

Based on this season you are looking at max 1 goal a game. He won't score anymore as sunderland are not threatening enough. Sure they got decent fixtures but the last 10 or so gameweeks have shown they lack threat and demolition of 10 man fulham is slightly skewed some peoples judgement as they now suddenly think sunderland are a free scoring side.

Berbatov on the other hand has more in his locker, can see him notching assists, goals in games. He has the potential to score big. Fixtures not great but remember fulham went to OT and scored 2 and 3 at Emirates when people expected nothing. Expect more of the same v Stoke and Chelsea I say.

Fulham for me have actually looked more threatening away from home and have looked at their free-est away from the cottage

Why is Noble rising? You do realise he is not the same person as Nolan and you can't count tonights points?

    Enjoy his fixtures 🙂

I was thinking about picking up Reus and Lewandowski, but I would hold on to Ronaldo for sure. City are horrible in CL.

Oh, good point on the GK, thanks.

I'm trying to avoid price rises and get the most out of Walcott's fixtures. Only way I can get him in is to drop the GK too.

Think Tremmel or Theo will rise in the next week or two?
