Boxing Day Fixture Doubts Mount

Fantasy managers were given a heads-up over potential changes to the Gameweek 19 fixture list after a proposed London Underground strike was today confirmed by the Aslef union. The industrial action by tube station workers has yet to be ratified by the authorities but with three games scheduled to take place in London on Boxing Day, this has major repercussions if given the go-ahead:

While QPR have this afternoon confirmed their home clash with West Brom will take place as planned, Arsenal’s Emirates encounter with West Ham and Fulham’s encounter with Southampton at the Cottage could face disruption – a scenario which will leave Fantasy managers struggling to cope and perhaps staring points hits in the face.

At the same point last season, Arsenal called off their match with Wolves but due to the fact that their next game was not until December 31, they simply put the game back 24-hours – this time round, they don’t have that option. With their Gameweek 20 fixture at home to Newcastle scheduled for December 29, it seems that Arsene Wenger’s side will be left with no option but to postpone the Hammers clash for a later date in 2013, should the strike go ahead. Martin Jol’s men could be in the same situation. Fulham’s following fixture at home to Swansea also takes place on December 29 so they, too, could be left without a fixture. However, a report in the Daily Mail today suggested that, at this moment in time, Fulham’s Boxing Day fixture is to go ahead.

We’ve spoken to Arsenal earlier and they have confirmed they are currently in meetings with police to assess the situation – an announcement from the club is expected within the next 24-hours.

As we await news as to whether the FA will charge Marouane Fellaini following his headbutt on Ryan Shawcross, it seems there could be plenty of transfer activity just around the corner as 15-man squads are restructured to cope with the upcoming ramifications. While the possible postponements could potentially lead to the rescheduling of fixtures in January and hand us a chance to utilise our winter wildcards more efficiently, the knock-on effect on the short-term makes the strength of our benches more essential than ever, with many teams struggling to field a starting XI if the rail strike comes to fruition.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Cheers guys. I was listening on talksport the other day about how he caqn perform well for Italy but not for City.

The conclusion was a cross of wondering how popular he actually is within the team (not very seemed the choice) and that he feels he doesn't need to work hard for his spot because Mancini "loves him"

Somehow over the past few weeks my team has morphed into this average looking bunch:

    Mignolet
    Cuellar O'Brien Cameron
    Morrison Sessegnon Fellaini Bale
    Suarez Tevez RVP

    Guzan, Ridgewell, Sterling, Shorey

I'm 128,000th-ish. Its ok, but I'm gently floating into mediocrity.

£1m to spend - any good suggestions?

A good manager would realise that.... 😛

I'm talking a load of crap really. One would except T&A to start but I have my doubts considering the midweek action. It would be too risky to ship Tevez regardless.

Fellaini out is going to be the obvious move for Donnie.

Frontline is awesome for this week. Although Suarez seems to be slipping back into mediocrity.

Fellaini has to go. Then I would probably look at Sessegnon out for maybe Puncheon/Taarabt and upgrade Morrison to Mata/Cazorla

What a week! If i hadn't put that (c) on RVP i'd have been up the creek without a (p)! haha Its a bit of a mess my team now thanks to fellaini goin bezerk, bale not recovering, rafael and caulker rested, enrique not making it and defoe, berba, michu and sterling getting a total of 7 points between them! I cant complain too much though, having seen some of the comments from people regarding their situation..I've taken a hell of a lot of hits so far this season and yes i am aware it takes some of the forethought out of the game but in the last 2 weeks, before this one, those hits have paid off...Before kick off on saturday, i followed through with my plan to bring rooney in and shipped berba and cazorla for puncheon and wazza...Bearing in mind this was before i knew my defence wasnt playing at all, bale was deffo out and fellaini was gonna become 'the real' sideshow bob and attempt to kill shawcross! I'm not at a loss as to what to do next lads...another hit for fellaini>yaya, re-jig my defence for multiple hits as none of them started this week or just leave it as is...

    team is for GW18...

    jaask(Beg)

    caulker/enrique/clyne(Rafa, Cuellar)

    Michu/bale/sterling/Puncheon(fellaini)

    Defoe/rooney/RVP

All opinions welcome 🙂 ps...feel free to laugh cos if i hadn't this week, i'd have cried haha

Or... he was overachieving before. Not to diss the guy - he's a good fantasy pick and a consistent PL goalscorer from midfield - but he could easily get only another 3 or 4 goals this season.

He *should* have 7 goals to his name right now which would make him 3rd best midfielder.

Giroud is on my bench and sagna playing. 4-3 to reading with a giroud hattrick and a sagna red is about right.

I think the Chelsea-bus might be a little premature. They have only scored one goal in their last eight games that wasn't against Nordsjaelland, Monterrey or Sunderland...

        Team looks like this

        Jask
        Clichy, mertesacker, Enrique, huth (gorkss)
        Caz, michu, sterling silva (Routledge)
        RVP berba (le fondre)

Just feel like Chelsea might do ok over the Xmas period, hence the only Chelsea options (plus my rivals have limited Chelsea coverage). Alternately could do michu > bale (had him before injury) but can't see him doing great back from injury + against stoke.

No blame needs to be placed on the referee for failing to spot any of the Fellaini v ShaX incidents. The worst of them happened after Fellaini looked to make sure the ref wasn't looking. And Stoke v Everton is a very physical game with set pieces being the most significant phases of play so there was too much going on in the box to see one incident.

Maybe he never seen the full extent of the incident only that ShawX fell to the ground.

So both Bale and Fellaini will drop tonight. Tough decision for me. THat price drop for Fellaini actually matters for my team value. Should I risk it for someone else like SIlva in example or swallow the price drop and wait for more news, especially on Bale?

Yeah and more importantly, why are everyone selling when there is nothing confirmed. All we know he could play this w/e. Nothing official no?

Defoe looking good again...with Ade hobbling off at the weekend (not flagged yet ?) the run could be as a lone striker (part) STO...villa...sun..READ...qpr...Or even if Ade is fit for any potion of that it still looks enticing...and he's falling in price again...

Anyone considering Javier Hernandez? He's down to 7.1 and he's sure to play sometime during the Christmas period.

posts like that make me think you must be ranked 2million and something. the likes of hernandez will get one game max from beginning and rot on the bench.

Even if he starts 2 of the 4 games, he will score more points than a similar priced striker who starts all 4. And he may score as a sub in the other games as well

you waste two transfers bringing him in and out. and he aint assured of starts. best to go with nailed on players like berba, benteke lambert in that price range
