FFS Paddy Power Cup – The Last Sixteen Draw

Next up, we roll out the draw for the last 16 in the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup VII. Site regulars such as Wild Rover and JMS remain in with a shout of silverware. Both have avoided world number one Iyad Zahlan – he is up against Jon Griffiths, who takes on the role of underdog, with a rank around the 52,000 mark.

For those still involved, it’s worth knowing that the last eight will qualify automatically for the Fantasy Football Scout Shield, where they will meet the final eight from the Members Cup, which starts in January.

The FFS Shield has its own prizes and is played out over the final Gameweeks of the season. No pressure, then…

Dilemma - I want Bale for Fellaini and will need to sell either Rafael or JEnrique to fund it. Transfer choices as follows:

Rafa to Clyne (or another 4m defender)
    JEnrique to Baker (AVL)

Rest of the defence is Nasty, Demel & Nelson

I think Rafa is more of a rotation risk with Smalling and Jones approaching full fitness so I would probably err on the side of caution and go for Enrique.

Puncheon / Pilkington for 4th mid rotation after Jan wildcard allows for 2 big hitters in midfield + michu and 3 big hitters up front. Their home form suggests that could work nicely.

MJ6987 (Atalanta) I don't think anyone is arguing that if both Kun & Tevez play 90 minutes, Tevez is the better pick given his price. The problem is that 'IF'. He is more prone to rotation and given the busy xmas schedule, can you afford to have a big rotation risk? I mean just look at his minutes over the last 5 GWs: 22, 0, 67, 39, 78

Exactly. Tevez's gametime dips as Man City exit the Champo League. From now til the end of the season, Aguero is much more nailed on. I'll be making the switch with the wildcard.

It puzzles me why people bang on about aguero. Yes he's a good player obviously but he hasn't exactly done it this year has he. And he didn't really do it away from home either last year. Sometimes I think all these stats cloud people's judgement!

He hasn't done it this year because of injury + being saved for the champions league. It's about making predictions as well as judging form and I reckon Aguero will have a big second half of the season - guaranteed game time as City fight for the title.

Last year he played most PL games along with his main feeder Silva. This year they have 5 games together and City as a whole have scored way less goals. If they start getting the run the goals will come. I think what he has done so far this season has no meaning on things, it is what he is capable of that matters.

You should look at historic conversion rates for both players. Tevez needs about 7.5 shots per goal, Aguero 4.5. That is because Tevez takes most of his shots from outside the box. Aguero also takes pens. So even with identical gametime I dont think its even close between the two. And now given gametime and the low ownership I think its not even close to Agueros favour.

Yeah clearly, I mean they take similar amounts of shots, but one of them is a much better converter( with more tap ins for Agu, rather than long range efforts like Tevez)

Tevez has a much greater influence on the build up play - and Aguero's form simply doesn't back up such confidence in him as a superior option right now - aside from the possibility of Mancini rotating Tevez...

That's fair enough - but for me the way Tevez almost single handedly turned the tables on United the other week should make Tevez almost undroppable - Balo is a joke and Dzeko only scores from the bench... City were shite against United until Tevez came on...

Tevez having a greater influence on build up play is a fallacy. Aguero is always involved in the attacking play. If you mean Tevez comes deeper to receive the ball and plays more of a creative role maybe you'd be right. But Aguero is very involved

Alright folks, currently in 223rd position overall, but my team has had a bit of a fall from grace of late.
    Bego, Jussi,
    Rafa, Caulker, Enrique, Wisdom, Davies
    Michu, Fellaini, Cazorla, Sterling, Sess
    RVP, Tevez, Berbs

have 2.1 in the bank and 1ft.
    Which of these is best?:

    a) Fellaini > taarabt, Sess > Mata/Bale, Wisdom > Nasty. 8 point hit, but team sorted for a while.
    b) Fellaini > Mata/Bale - straight swap, no hit. Defense is still a mess. Then next week do Sess > Taarabt and change 1 defender for four point hit
    c) Fellaini > Taarabt, Wisdom > Nasty. 4 point hit. Then next week Sess > Bale

No worries, he has left my transfer plans in a bit of a shambles as well with his ban.
Planning ahead for fixtures is hard enough without calculating an unplanned assault related ban into ones schemes. bah!.

For any potential Gallas buyers - Dawson his last 3 when fit, 2 of them Gallas was benched for.
With BAE returning soon and Caulker waiting I'd avoid.

I think most significant was Dawson handed the armband when finally got fit. There's no doubt noone at that club actually wants gallas captai but options not aplenty. i think a lot of appeal in dawson at 4.5 when he can string a couple together. i think the others will rotate

Dawson is club captain, he just wasn't first choice (and may have been struggling with an injury early on?)
He looked to have come in favour but with Caulker and Gallas snooping around it'd be a risk.

theres no doubt only Walker and Vertonghen nailed on i that backline, keepers included. will see a lot of rotation when BAE Kaboul and co all back. Could be the undoing of spurs trying to fit them in. Anyways, i will be dropping Caulker when wildcard hits

gallas wont play every game over xmas, it's as simple as that. he's missed every single europa game this season and the only time there were 2 premier league games in a week he was benched for one of them.
if you buy gallas expect a benching, the bonus being it's 90 or 0 with him so you get your autosub
